My pets have been seen by Dr. Gaston and his team for over 15 years. Dr. Carson is on his team and she is phenomenal! We recently had to put our cocker spaniel down. He had lymphoma. She took her time explaining in detail what our options were and was very compassionate. We love Crabapple Knoll and would never use anyone else. The staff is very friendly, efficient and understanding. Dr. Gaston, we hope you never retire!

I took my cat here and I would have to say, I was not impressed. I see all the good ratings and my friends in the area have said they are really good, but didn't really have a good experience. They wanted to take some blood for a blood test and the doctor and the tech she called in had trouble finding the vein in the neck. Thank goodness they had my calm cat as they tried for 10 minutes before they got it...because I tell you my other cat would have freaked out and bolted out the door. They also could not "express" his little rear end..something my other vet could do in 2 notes, took a tech and a vet multiple tries and when they still could not do it I asked them to stop. These people seem right out of Vet school and always start with.."well..I think it might be". I went back to my vet in Sandy Springs(who took care of his little rear in 2 secs). I am still searching for a good vet in the Roswell area...maybe I just got them on a couple of bad days....

We have been taking our dog and cat to Crabapple Knoll for many years and have never had bad care or bad service. We appreciate the kindness, and knowledgeable care that all of the vets we have seen have given our animals. We will continue to take our animals to this very special provider!

They saved my tiny 3.5 lb yorkie from near death with a simple tape worm treatment. She was down to 2.8 lbs, not eating, and droopy for about 2 months. I was almost sure I was losing her due to kidney failure or something. Since its been 6 months now, and she is back to rambunctious herself, gained and kept all of her weight on with no special effort, Id say they were spot on with their plan of action. I cannot say enough about how kind & considerate everyone is in the office. Very knowledgeable, no matter which vet you see. Outstanding. They also have wonderful pets to adopt.

I've been bringing my 14 year old mixed breed dog her since she was an 8 week old pup. They have ALWAYS been extremely professional. In fact, I'm driving up from the Perimeter area today rather than visiting a closer vet. I also had another furry friend whom I had to put down a few years back. They were incredible about the whole ordeal, from when I went in a few days prior to when she had her seizure a few days later.

Seven years ago my dog was very sick with severe pancreatits. Crabapple Knoll did an excellent job saving her. While we weren't sure if she would make it through the night at the time I am happy to say seven years later she's still with us. For the past seven years I've been swinging in to CKVC once a month for her special food now because of the condition and the staff is always friendly and willing to make suggestions on how to spice up a bland diet for a senior dog with special dietary needs.

The staff at Crabapple made me feel confident entrusting my "fur babys" health to them! Dr.Gaston and some of the other vets have been there for years but hirer recent grads as well, it makes me feel I receive the most current care. I had previous negative experiances at another facility before so was nervous about leaving her....you could not ask for better service! The grooming department was awesome and taught me how to care for the long hair. Over all great experiance

The groomer, Katherine, is amazing. I have never been disappointed in the way my dogs have looked. You can deal that she cares about how the dogs look. She is a perfectionist, which is wonderful because the animals come out looking and smelling wonderful. If you want a good groom for your dog or cat, take it to her!

Dr. Gaston and his staff have been our pets providers for over 17 years. We absolutely love Dr. Gaston. He has proven over and over his dedication and skill in caring for the needs of our pets. His work with abandoned, injured and abused animals is limitless. I recommend him and his staff to every pet owner.

My family and I have been clients of Dr. Gaston and Crabapple Knoll for as long as I can remember. My mother was the first to take her dog to Dr. Gaston many years ago and she never looked back. Since then, we as a family have continued to take our pets to Crabapple Knoll Vet Clinic and have enjoyed meeting each and every veterinarian that has joined the team over the years. The prices are not what one would refer to as "cheap" but both the quality of medicine practiced and the level of service provided make the cost well worth it. This has to be one of the busiest vet clinics around but the techs and vets make sure to see each and every pet that comes in (even if you don't have an appointment) and they do it without making you feel rushed out the door. The vets always take the time to answer any questions I have during a visit and the staff will always return your call when you call with questions from home. They also call to check on your pet if he or she was sick and had to see the doctor! It's obvious to me that these people truly care about the animals they treat and I appreciate that most of all. I would (and do!) recommend Crabapple Knoll Veterinary Clinic.

I am saddened to say that I lost my beloved pet due to certain circumstances from this practice. I won't go into detail, just that they charged my a whole ton of money and the vets had a lack of experience as well as made me feel like two cents when I tried to figure why this has happened. My animals are like family to me and I feel like mine was taken from me way too soon. What was a routine surgery ended up a tragedy.

My wife and I had a terrible experience with this vet. We took our cat in to have her claws removed because we just moved into a new house. The Vets said that the cat would need all of her shots "before" they could do the surgery. Out cats medical records were faxed in by our normal vet, whom we should have never left. The records indicated a heart murmor and that extreme caution should be used when attempting surgery. The cat was put to sleep for surgery when her lungs began to fill with fluid. The vets did a heroic job of saving her life but I feel they should have known about her previous condition. What really sent me over the edge was that after the surgery, when she was still fighting for her life, they decided to give her the shots that we were told she need before the surgery! We were told to take our cat to an emergency clinic for over night care and we did. The next day, we picked up our cat from Crabapple Knoll and looked like she just came out of a dryer because her fur was a messed up. The cat was actually wet too! later on that night, our friend died in our arms when we were trying to nurse her back to health. Total cost: $700 including the overnight stay at the ER. When we tried to talk to the vets about getting our money back, they would not budge. Actually we were told to dig our cat up and send it to UGA of all places for an autopsy. Later that week, we received flowers from Crabapple Knoll. Needless to say that this was a heart breaking experience.

Every time I have been here...the front desk staff are NOT particularly attentive when you walk in. There are usually 3 or 4 people behind the counter and it is hard to get anyone to look at you...they are usually chit chatting...but they sure are ready when it comes to taking your money!
The building is older and is fairly dirty and smells. It makes you wonder what the back is like where the surgeries are and where the boarding and grooming is since you do not get a tour of the facility last I recall.
I have a very old dog who became crippled last Summer ...on a Saturday. I brought her here and the weekend Vet was 'right out of Vet school-UGA' and the first words out of her mouth were that the dog had to be taken immediately to UGA's vet school and have a $3k back surgery. I told her that if that were me or my husband laying there flat out that we would not opt for surgery as our first option and that we had a cat have the same problem years earlier and their clinic gave her shots of steroids and confinement and she got better. This approach..after a lot of threats and arguing and bemoaning by the newbie vet was then taken for our dog and she did get better...but still had some minor problems. When I picked her up from confinement I took her to another vet where my dog made a resounding recovery and a year later is like a puppy at the age of 17. A spinal adjustment, some Chinese herbs and acupuncture worked miracles! My biggest issue with several years of using this vet is that it seems that they bring on a lot of new female vets...fairly newbies. I like some experience in my vets and do not like a lot of turnover. I have lots of animals and am very protective of their care. I also spend a lot of money on my pets. The vets here should be more attentive to their clients and not push major surgical approaches and if they have a client that wants that- and they cannot help..they should refer them out to another vet...not tell them that it is hopeless without surgery.

I am sorry the attorney that wrote the comment regarding our malpractice was not happy. We have a surgery check-in sheet where he indicates what is to be done. We did exactly what he indicated by removing only those masses he authorized. As the other masses got larger, and required excision, he felt we should be responsible and not charge him for the second surgery. He created such a problem, I agreed to refund the cost of the second surgery as long as he promised never to come back in. He agreed to do so, but apparently felt it necessary to vent. You decide who you trust, him or me? Signed, Dr. Joe Gaston(not annonymous)

I had been taking my dog to Crabapple Knoll since 1995. In 2006, I was shocked at the unethical conduct and malpractice. My dog had surgery and there was a large tumor on his paw that was supposed to be removed, but wasn't. Thus, at age 11 I had to have him undergo surgery (and anesthesia) again. They charged me to have my dog's teeth cleaned twice within a few months (when it was not necessary). It is much worse than this (page after page of issues I documented when I reviewed my dog's records.) I received about an $850 refund from the owner, which was not the full amount he agreed to by phone.

I have been using CKVC for over 3 years. Overall, very pleased with service I have received. Vets and staff very knowledgeable and professional. I took last dog there when she was very sick. When she passed away, I received a personalized card and clay paw print from the vet. I nice touch. CKVC is open 7 days a week. The day I took my last dog there for her final visit, the office was very noisy. That part was unenjoyable. I did not let that small disappointment change my decision from taking my current dog there.

We have three cats who all go to Crabapple Knoll for their care. I have been very pleased with every level of service offered. The staff is friendly and the vets are very skilled. We have never felt rushed while there, the vets always take their time to answer questions and explain procedures. While we have been fortunate enough to never have had to use them for a major emergency, we visit them for yearly checkups and some minor cuts and bites. The prices are very reasonable and are way better than what we used to pay while living in Buckhead! All and all, this is a great place to take your animals!!
PROS: great staff, caring vets
CONS: none!
