Don't go here - snobs & they cut my hair crooked!

by Lisa L.

Don't waste your money. I tried them twice, both times they messed up my hair. 1st time, they colored my hair 2 different colors for my root and length. Don't know why, they didn't ask my input on choice of color. 2nd time, I tried Theresa, what a snob. She had an attitude that I didn't use a "dedicated" stylist, then cut my hair crooked! It's a straight cut shoulder length.. how do you do that? When I realized it after getting home, I called them and they gave me an attitude about trying to squeeze me in somewhere... like it was my fault! Crappy customer service, they should have been bending over backwards to fix the screw up from Theresa. I'll never go back. I went to Phillips next time and saw Jessica. Wonderful sweet people working there and she picked out the color with me and gave a wonderful cut. Don't waste your money on snobs at True.

Terrible service and snobby

by Anonymous

I have to agree with some of the others this place is too snobby! I went two times and left feeling bad. The girl that cut my hair was way into what the other stylists were doing. She paid no attention to me or my hair cut for that matter. The stylist leave much to be desired. Now the store I like, I went in the other day and the girl that helped me was very nice, she was new so maybe that is why, but she smiled at me the whole time and was great help. If you are going to the salon save yourself the time and money and look elsewhere.

Trendy Environment, Great Hair Styles

by Amy B. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,722

The staff at this salon is very energetic and friendly, and the dcor is trendy. Ive had my hair cut by two stylists, and was pleased with the results from each. The stylists work with you to choose a style that fits your appearance, hair type, and lifestyle. The salon also offers spa services. Like all Aveda salons Ive been to, they offer you tea, coffee or water, and provide a free (and relaxing!) scalp and neck massage.

I finally love my hair!

by 2dact

I found this salon online and was surprised because I always thought that the Aveda place at The Avenues at West Cobb was just a store. They have a whole salon and spa behind it. I knew Aveda had a good reputation so I called and made an appointment. It took a few days to get in but that didn't bother me. My worst haircuts were from people who were available when I walked in someplace without an appointment. I saw Kelly and for the first time in years, I feel like my mane has been tamed. The best part is I can do it myself. She was as much a coach as a hair stylist. I looked around a lot and they seem like a happy group of people. I only saw pretty hair-nothing crazy or 'out of the box' on the staff or their clients. I'm so happy, I want to tell everyone I know! Oh, and it smells so good in there--almost delicious!

Pros: While I was waiting, I had a great hand massage. The hot towels are nice too!

Cons: Seems a bit crowded in the salon. They were really busy but I never felt rushed.

I really like this place.

by cathyj417

I stumbled upon this forum quite by accident and I have to say I was shocked to see some of the comments. I have been a client at true for nearly 4 years, shortly after they opened, and while no business is perfect (I own my own as well), I am always impressed with their commitment to excellence. My hair always looks great (that is what I'm paying for), the two stylists I have used are both professional and friendly and I have received loyalty discounts on both my hair and products I have purchased. I did have an issue once when my color wasn't what I had hoped for but Ava, the manager, was quick to return my call and get me in the following day to have it corrected. One time in 4 years is much better than what I have experienced in past salons. I like that they always call me to remind me of my appointment because my stylist is hard to see (that is why I have seen one other one) and I have to make my appointments a month in advance. I like to think the fact that it is hard to get an appointment is because they are so good. As far as I can tell, all their stylists work full time and are always busy. If you wait until the last minute, there is no way to get an appointment - they are the only nice salon in West Cobb and I have been to many to make this claim. I hope you enjoy true as much as I do. They are really good, accomodating and the salon has a nice, comfortable atmosphere. Try Stephanie or Heidi. Best wishes.

Pros: I always love my hair!

Cons: expensive (but not arrogant)

Avoid if possible

by sallly

I've been going to True ever since March 2006, however, many issues arose that caused me to never come back here again. It has always been an issue getting an appointment with my stylist! How come that is ALWAYS the case when calling two weeks in advance?! Apparently True salon doesn't want to keep the business on their repeat clien who had spent $$$ there!
Recently they have changed their phone number-no courteousy notice, no card, no call....poor customer service-awful managment!
My stylist was the only reason thet kept me going there-she is very professional, nice individual-even sent me a card last Christmas-please note the card was from my stylist personally-not from True!!! True salon "true"ly leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Don't waste your time or your money here.

Pros: great sylist

Cons: very poor management, luck of customer service

Nice place, Needs new Managment !!!!

by ksmith

I love the hair stylist at the salon and the atmostphere. But the ladies sometimes seem a lttle down. I couldn't quiet place it at first. Then I saw it with my own eys. This lady is the wrost manager I have ever seen! To put down the employees like she does. I want return to this salon as long as this lady is the manager. One poor girl was crying because of this manager told her she was useless. I hate telling store like this but what a waste. My hair styist is leaving because of this manager and I don't thank THATS FAIR !!!

Pros: GREAT STYLIST

Cons: BAD MANAGEMENT

My wife loves True Salon and so do I!!!

by kash22

The staff is attentive, the atmosphere pleasant, an overall wonderful experience. My wife has been going there for a couple of years and raves about the place. I decided to ride along one day (50 miles roundtrip) to see what the hubbub was all about. They were able to squeeze me in for a haircut and the rest is history. We were going to Vegas that weekend and they turned my wife into a Desert Fox!!!!

True is also in a very nice retail center with great restaurants and stores, a very enjoyable experience!

Pros: Very attentive, professional staff! Great services and products!

Cons: Need to open a True closer to me!

Good Luck getting through the snobiness

by mmeberg

I used this service to find a good reputable salon in the west cobb area and thought that aveda true salon looked like a wise choice. I clicked on their website and requested an appointment with one of the more "impressive" looking staff members to get no response at all. What good is having internet booking if you don't monitor it. Anyhow, after a day and a half of no response to my request, I called to see if they had received it. I gave them my name and that I was requesting an appointment with either stylist A-who is on maternity leave, and B-who doesn't take new clients. As I was told this in a half cynical, Nasty-nice manner, I gladly said thanks and have a nice day. I hung up the phone feeling good that I just saved myself over $300 most likely for a hair do that at the end of the day is not going to transform me to look like Claudia Schiffer. Thanks AVEDA, my husband will be pleased. By the way- there is nothing prestigious about The Avenue, it's an outdoor shopping plaza, and anyone can shop there. To all mothers, they have a no children policy.

Pros: Flashy Name

Cons: Price, Customer Service, Good luck getting one of the Higher Ranked Stylists

Worth Every Penny!

by kaydee1215

I've been a "Lynda" fan and client for the last 8 years. As a colorist, there is none better, anywhere, period. She is a Master Colorist for Aveda and teaches all over the USA for them. Is it inexpensive to get your color by Lynda? No, it isn't. Is it worth the cost? Absolutely! If you want top-notch, you have to pay for it.

Kelli cuts my hair and it always looks awesome. I've paid 2-3 times as much to have my hair cut in Manhattan and Atlanta by "celebrity" stylists and not had cuts as good as I get from Kelli.

I just started going to Courtney recently. Again, if you want a super-star, you have to pay. Courtney teaches globally for Aveda, I think she is fantastic. I've had my eyebrows tinted, shaped and waxed, and my eyelashes tinted for $90 - I think that is reasonable. Added bonus, Courtney gave me a mini-massage while we waited for my eye-lashes to dry.

To sum it up, you get what you pay for. At True, I feel I get a lot for my money and they make me look and feel wonderful too.

Pros: Top-notch quality and service.

Cons: Make appointments in advance for the "stars, " they are in high demand.

'True'ly Fabulous

by lorettacastorini

I recently moved to GA from NJ and had some bad hair experiences in GA til I found True. Mandy is my stylist and she is wonderful. She understands me, she is extremely talented and I always walk out very happy with exactly what I asked for. They do not push products either, which I find terribly annoying at other salons. My cut, highlights, and toner treatment were very reasonable at $100. Some reviewers have said that this salon is overpriced, I disagree. From salon experiences, you should always ask first about pricing and make choices and you'll never be surprised by your bill.

Pros: Clean, friendly staff, excellent service

Cons: Ask about pricing before service

WAY overpriced for what it is

by secretshopper007

I've been to True several times, however, many issues arose that caused me to never come back here again. My stylist got more clients, which caused her to leave me in the chair a lot while cutting, and had another person come in to finish me up. The results, of which, were horrible. If a stylist is going to charge 55+ a haircut, that stylist needs to do the job through and through and continuously do the job well, not leave you alone and have someone subpar to finish the job. At another trip to this salon, I was charged over three hundred dollars for something that should've cost half that. You'll never know how much your bill will be. Stylists charge extra for things you don't even know you're getting. True salon "true"ly leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Don't waste your time or your money here.

Pros: nothing

Cons: overpriced, fake, unprofessional

overpriced

by nene524

I went to True Aveda Lifestyle Salon a month or so ago. It is very appealing for the eyes, the customer service was great, and the stylist were definitely above par, BUT when I got checked out, the bill was much more than I have been charged at other comparable salons. Come on, I think for my brow wax alone, I was charged $45.00 (not including tip.) Other than this, the salon was good.

Pros: atmosphere

Cons: price

Exceptional Service!

by juliedavis3213

I heard about this great salon in the Avenues at West Cobb, being the skeptic that I am I decided to scope it out before I made an appointment. When I entered the salon I was greeted like they already knew who I was. I felt very welcome. I was offered a cup of hot tea (yummy). I was given a tour of the salon and mini spa. It is small, but very nice. I decided to make an appointment with Kelli Hardman. She is a master stylist and worth every penny! I have never looked so great. Thank you True salon and spa.

Pros: customer service, atmosphere, hand massages!

Cons: parking

Cortney and Linda

by kjb315

I didn't believe my neighbor when she told me she had her hair done in West Cobb. Her hair was always fabulous, her color natural and near perfect. I went to see her stylist, Linda, and I can't believe how my hair looks and feels. They use Aveda hair color and the shine and condition of my hair is unbelievable. Linda told me about Cortney and said to have my eyebrows done by her would be like nothing I ever experienced. I left the salon looking ten years younger and feeling more beautiful than I ever have! Thank you true Salon!

Pros: professional, relaxing, experienced

Cons: expensive
