Ratings_icons Really...????

HM K.

I have been knitting now for about 7 or so years and Needle Nook was the first shop that I visited. Over the years, I have found the staff extremely unhelpful and sometimes just plain rude. Perhaps if you are an expert knitter you are treated differently, but if you are just starting out or trying something new, there is none of the patience and kindness as described in the other reviews. I find Needle Nook very cold and I always feel like if I am not being watched for stealing something then I am totally ignored. Unless, they accost (yes, accost. me to knit for one of their many (granted fabulous) pet projects (ie chemo hats, which I have done many many times). Their selection is improving, but if I can't get something at one of the other shops (Knitch is usually the one that comes through for me 99% of the time) then I would rather pay shipping costs and order on line, then go to Needle Nook. Having little kids, I am very good about knowing what I need before I enter a shop (kids can be a little wacky sometimes) and a shop's website is important to me. Needle Nook's site leaves alot to be desired. I would love to know at least what classes or yarns in stock.

Ratings_icons great variety and great prices

Genevieve E.

I agree with "Jamie" - This long-time shop is not as pretty at first glance as Knitch or some of the other high-end knit shops, but they have *lots* of lovely yarns, from inexpensive to fancy, at better prices than you can find elsewhere. The staff is very knowledgeable. You will find the location is "on your way" to a lot of other errands - great for stopping by to get needles, etc.

Ratings_icons Better and Better!

Kathleen S.

I've been shopping at Needle Nook for yarn for the last 2 years or so and I've noticed that it's getting even better over time. Their selection has always been impressive but the vibe has gotten friendlier and friendlier. The classes are really good and I've found that if I stop in at a slower time, they're always happy to answer questions. They're prices are pretty competitive from what I've found.

Ratings_icons Actually is one of my new favs!

Jamie H.

I must admit that I was not initially impressed - this is a little store in a shopping center, so it isn't as cozy as the little shops that you find in houses like Cast-On Cottage, Knitch, or Why Knot Knit. BUT, I was definitely convinced that it is one of the better stores around. I really liked their sock yarn selection. Lots and lots of variety. The ladies are very helpful and I will definitely be back.

Ratings_icons Large selection of fibers, needle accessories!

Sara W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,744

One of Decatur's longtime shops, the Needle Nook has been on Briarcliff Road for probably more than 25 years. The selection of yarns and fibers is one of the best in metro Atlanta - the range of colors alone is staggering. The shop also offers classes for beginners to the advanced - call well in advance as these classes fill up fast! Parking is generous, though traffic at the Briarcliff/LaVista intersection can be daunting, especially at rush hour. The staff is knowledgeable and usually don't mind helping out with a stalled project, but call first.
