Wonderful to find an independent book store. I found the owner, and past owner (ask them to tell their story!) to be warm, friendly and helpful.

On my final visit I spent 75.00 on one book but I didn't even get a "thank you." Went elsewhere from then on.

Great to still have a few independent bookstores in the country. Staff helpful and friendly. Yes, you can go to the chain bookstores and find perfect sterileness. Why go to a small store when you can "mall" yourself to death. Cell phones, flat screen t.v.'s, computers, kindle, iphones, ipads are great and I love them but I also need a book in hand and sit on a wooden bench in the park. One day there will be no paper anything, but the trees, forests will still be destroyed.

I love indie bookstores, but found this one to be lacking. All of the categories I browsed seemed to be lacking key titles. Most of the shelves were sparsely stocked, so space is not the issue here. I assume their buying budget is low; this may be a reflection of the current economic times. The atmosphere was less than I had hoped for as well - the look and feel was very similar to a chain bookstore you might find in a mall. An employee did greet me when I entered but otherwise seemed distracted behind the counter (the store was empty). Not a good experience.

I started using Tall Tales Book Shop when I was in high school at Druid Hills. They have a great selection and they are more than willing to obtain the most obscure literary titles you can imagine. The location is very convenient in the Toco Hills area. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The prices are pretty good as well.

PROS: Location, selection
CONS: none

Tall Tales is one of my son's favorite bookstores. He loves the children's section and so do I. The best part is that the staff actually knows the books when I try to describe them. remembered a story I read when I was little and the only words I could remember were that this man and his machine built stuff "neat and square". Most bookstores (Think big chain stores) just looked up "neat and square and of course nothing came up. One of the girls who was working in the kids section of Tall tales, however said she was not certain but she thought the story was Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel. They were able to find the book and now it is one of my son's favorites.
The biggest difference I see between them and the larger stores is summed up by this example. They really know thier merchandise and are more than willing to help.
For the adults - they do carry all the new books and have a good selection - our main draw, however, is the kids section!

This is the perfect little bookshop around the corner, a huge contrast to giants like Borders and Barnes and Noble. Tall Tales carries new books and offers a wide variety for both adults and children. If you need a recommendation, the staff is more than happy to help - bookworms themselves, somebody has nearly always just finished something new and is glad to share! The children's section is set up to accomodate small people, and has room for kids to browse, sit, and read while parents make their own selection. Tall Tales also holds author readings and book celebrations throughout the year, so there's plenty of activities to attend.

PROS: Friendly staff, large selection of popular books, welcomes children
CONS: None!
