We have been going to Lost Mountain Animal Hospital for over 15 years. We have always had good experiences. My dog loves the staff and the staff spoil him rotten. They always seem to be kind, sensitive, and helpful. The prices here always seem to be reasonable and in line with other vets.

For quality, caring pet care, the best place to take your pets is Lost Mountain Animal Hospital. The staff couldn't be better -- they treat each pet as if it was their very own. Dr. Newsom is an excellent doctor and, in our dog's case, found a tumor that was overlooked by the specialists at Auburn. The care they provide to all 6 of our dogs is what keeps us coming back - the dogs love them!

I have been taking my pets to Lost Mountain Animal Hospital since 2005. The Doctors there are very knowledgeable. I dont always have the funds to do everything they recommend, but I love that they always give me prices, and discuss treatment before they do anything. The staff members are always understanding and take great care of my pets!

We've been taking our dogs and cats to Dr. Newsom for 14 years. Like most vets, the price of care is sometimes expensive, but you get what you pay for because the service is excellent, the staff is friendly, grooming is great, and everyone who works there seems to genuinely care about the animals at the hospital.

What a rip off! My appointment was at 10am and I THINK the doctor got there just before 11am and I finally saw her close to 11:30. Apparently the women out front got in some trouble about it because I heard the yelling from the little room I was in. I thought I would see the doctor then, but I had to answer questions from a tall woman and sign a price sheet with two sets of charges on it. When Dr.Newsom came in, she seemed nice enough, but wouldn't answer any of my questions directly and kept showing me things on the price sheet that she would do to make my cat better. I left my cat, paid her all the money that was on the price sheet I signed and the cat was no better. Dr. Newsom's answer was to have one of her people give me another price sheet to sign! I took my cat somewhere else and for about 1/5 of what I paid her, I have a healthy cat again. Take my advice and don't go there-they say they love pets but what they really love is $$$$$$!

I started with this clinic in 1998 and they were wonderful to deal with. Prices were reasonable the care and attention my pets got was personal and great. I stayed with the clinic after it was sold, carried my pets there, and adopted three kittens. One of the adopted kittens (I was told) was a neutered male and I paid the adoption fee for the kitten with the neutering and the record clearly shows that it was neutered. I even called back once to inquire as HE was walking around yowling loudly every four or five weeks and the records were checked and I was told yes HE was a neutered male and probably just confused. HE had two kittens last week and when I called the vet about this and she finally called me back, she told me to stop calling there and that she was not responsible for what people who were no longer there had told me when I adopted the kitten. I had changed vets about a year and a half ago because of what I felt were inflated pricing and after my conversation today realize I made the right choice in changing. Very disappointed in this attitude after my many years of being a client trusting them with my little animals - I am no vet but I do think there is a difference in a male and female cat

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lost Mountain Animal Hospital and all the staff. I have been a customer for about 5 years and I cannot say enough positive things about the staff. They have always shown my dogs love, kindness and compassion. My cavalier loves it there and he just leaps out of the car. I always know whether he is boarding, being groomed or seeing Dr. Newsome he is going to be cared for in the best manner. In addition to my cavalier I have a 5 month old lab and he too loves it there. When my 10 year old lab passed away last August they shared my loss and honestly they were so compassionate and Ms. Debbie really saw me through some very dark days. I believe their prices are fair. If you are looking for kind, compassionate, knowledgeable folks please go by and see them, they are awesome!

I couldn't ask for a better office. Dr. Newsome is great! The staff members are all very friendly and professional. They never do anything without your permission. Every visit starts with a care plan so that you know what will happen to your animal. Did I mention The care plan includes the prices of every service, so there are no surprises when it comes time to pay. I will always take my animals here.

I can't believe some one would not like the people at lost mountain animal hospital. I brought my cat in cause she was not eating and not going to the litterpan. I couldn't afford to get shots and all this year, but Dr. Newsom just took my cat and helped her anyway. She worked out a way to keep my cat in the hospital and take care of her and now she's home and doing a lot better. All the people there are just as nice as they can be and the place smells nice too.
I tell all my friends & family to go there cause they are great!

My dog is a mixed breed, but I love him very much. He is healthy so he only has to go to the animal hospital for check ups and for the yearly shots. How can someone complain about shots, heartworm, flea preventative, and a check up for under $200? The heartworm and FrontLine make up most of the charges AND they are the same price as at PetCo or PetSmart? The also have a program that provides ID cards for the dogs, it shows all the information about the pets shots and valid thru-dates. The are good to my Rocky when he gets groomed and treat him like is he is the most special dog there -- that makes me and my mom feel good about taking our pets there. I think they are good to pets and would send my friends and neighbors there, too.

LMAH takes care of all 4 of our dogs. Three schnauzers and a Wal-Mart Special (from a shopping cart at the Hiram Wal-Mart). From yearly check-ups to "whoops - I ate the whole roast beef" visits have been handled both professionally and with loving attention to the dogs. One of the schnauzers, Fritz, was very ill last year and had to stay in their hospital for over a week -- but we were able to visit daily and were called at least twice a day with progress updates on his condition. He is doing great now and goes back for checks on his thyroid levels (he has a thyroid condition) to make sure his medications are the proper level. The costs for these complex tests is comparable to what is charged by other animal hospitals. The cost for yearly shots and the yearly check up is the same as what you would pay other places, unless you go to a clinic for shots (like PetSmart) or a place like SANTA. Grooming, actually, costs less than what I paid at other grooming salons -- but at LMAH you have the advantage of, if a problem is detected - like ear infection - the vet is right there to address the problem. Pet ownership is not cheap - but the prices charged by Dr. Newsome is very fair. If you want quality pet care in a loving, caring environment - then call and schedule an appointment. They are the best animal hospital in the area.

We have never been more impressed with the care and concern that we have been shown for ALL of our pets at Lost Mountain Animal Hospital. They did the initial puppy check on our mini-schnauzer, Courage. However, due to a outdated Parvo shot given by the breeder's vet, he developed Parvo. Dr. Newsome and her staff devoted love, care and came in during the middle of the night to check on our Courage baby. They went above and beyond in caring for him - and he survived Parvo. Unfortunately, he developed cancer. We made weekly trips to Auburn for cancer/radiation treatments. A few weeks after his last radiation treatment, Dr. Newsome did an ultrasound and saw something that caused her concern. A trip back to Auburn showed that they had missed a tumor on his back and in his stomach. Their advise: put him down - today. We weren't ready to let him go - and Dr. Newsome and Dr. Everett worked with us and Courage, helping us to find a pain medicine, helping him to go to the bathroom, and helping us to get ready to let him go. He lasted another 3 months, and finally we had to ease his pain and let him go. But, the tears in our eyes was matched by the tears in Dr. Newsome, Debbie, Tiffany and rest of her staff's eyes. They helped us let him go, peacefully. The care given by Dr. Newsome and her staff is excellent. We paid thousands of dollars to Auburn and do not regret anything except them missing the other tumors. We thank God that Dr. Newsome found the tumors in his back and stomach and helped us get through the sunset of his life. We miss Courage to this day -- over 2 years ago. He was just a baby - only 4 years old -- he was part of our family. And, at no time during his treatments with Dr. Newsome's did we ever feel over charged. I would recommend them to ANYONE.

My cat was very sick and the staff and veterinarian took care of her. I was so happy to get her back I hugged the vet and assitant. When I brought her in she couldn't get up. The Dr. called me every day to update me of her progress even on Sunday. I would recommend this hospital for your pets.

We have been taking our dog to this hospital for several years, mainly out of "convenience". Our dog has seizures and is on Phenobarbital. It is imperative that she receives her medicine regularly. When we took our dog in for her yearly blood screening, we requested that all necessary blood work be done in order to prevent a disruption in her medication. $93 later we were under the impression that this was completed. However, we learned soon after that it was not and further work was necessary. When I spoke with the staff they attempted to tell me that only a portion of the screening was requested and that the full screening was refused. This, of course, was a CYA maneuver and had no truth to it whatsoever. Then, I was quoted a price of $300 for the full screening (this would have included a new $93 charge for what was already completed). The fact that I am frustrated enough to sit here and write this review should be testament to how poorly run this hospital is. Further, it should exemplify the poor customer service and inflated costs one will encounter if they take their pet to this hospital. Please avoid taking your pets to this horrible, horrible hospital. Save yourself the headache and money and take your pet elsewhere.

As a new patient I brought our cat's 2 year med treatment. They didn't put it in chronological order to be able to properly review. As the only person in the waiting room, I thought we would be in and out - not so, we were there for 1 1/2 hours. Once in the room the assistant could not analyze the med history and came into and out of the room at least 3 times asking the same questions. Once Dr. Newsom came in and checked out cat, she was unable to diagnose or prescribe for asthma even though our cat was wheezing and hoarse. She suggested xrays and bloodwork, and when I asked the cost she said they would work up a treatment plan. She and her assistant left and the assistant came back in with another tech with a printed treatment plan to the tune of $395! No wonder she wouldn't tell me herself! I acquiesced to heartworm bloodwork and when our cat was getting the blood draw Dr. Newsom heard that he was hoarse and prescribed amoxicilan (sp?) at $34 - pricey when you can get a human 30 day Rx of this antibiotic for $4! That was the only treatment and no diagnosis! With the comings and goings of staff into the treatment room, and the amount of time I was left there waiting for them to come back in, I felt like I was buying a car and they were checking with the manager on a price every time they left the room. Don't go here unless you want to spend a lot of $$$ and get no diagnosis or treatment.

I dislike the Dr. Newsom very much I feel like she is making guess' and always wanting to either do xrays or bloodwork and it always comes back with no answers. I spend ALOT of money there and I am never completely satisfied. Boarding is horrible I recommend doing a tour before you leave your dog you would be surprised how small the cages are. Also don't bother paying for extra walks they don't hardly do them especially during busy boarding. Dr. Moore is alot nicer than Dr. Newsom and will call you back WAY more often than she would. So if your going to go ask to see Dr. Moore! SERIOUSLY!

I took my 3 year old dog for an annual exam and shots, and a new puppy for a first exam and shots, and paid over $400! That is FOUR times what the bill should have been. They were nice enough but you can get VERY good care at a vet that will be good to you, your pet, and your wallet.

I've not taken my pets here, but I've inquired several times about pricing on shots, dentals, etc.

$525+ for a dental is simply the most pricey I've seen, even in the Lost Mountain area. And the prices for annual vacs and normal procedures are outrageous ...

So sad. Prices like that discourage people from getting vet care for their animals.

We have taken many of our animals here over the years. We always felt they received caring, attentive service. The offfice staff is very friendly and it is usually easy to get an appointment. They offer a variety of services too, not just veterinary care. I would recommend them to any pet owner.

I would describe my experience with this facility as neutral. I boarded my late cocker spaniel, an older dog at the time, at this facility on several occassions. hile the facility appeared clean and the staff friendly, my dog typically returned home thinner and quite nervous -- however, I cannot say for certain that it was totally the fault of the staff. She did come back once with a skin/coat condition that I must assume she picked up at the facility. For that reason, I did never returned to this location for future care.
