My dog was almost dead And a fearless vet tech carried him in And was prepared to save his life! He has the best surgion dr.macdougal And her great techs worked on him And he's the happiest dog I know. I highly recommend georgia vet specialists. If there's a bad apple there I've yet to see it. My dog is red.

I work with a rescue group, and we have unfortunately had to use GVS several times with pets in our rescue program. Overall, I have been pleased with the service in the various departments we have used. The ophthalmology department is particularly good - compassion, very skilled and professional. And I think, for an emergency and specialty vet practice, their prices are fairly reasonable.

My cat has been a patient of Dr Hamilton at GVS since a cancer diagnosis earlier this year. They are super nice here, and while my kitty does not enjoy going there, I feel like she is in capable hands. She was referred here over UGA. They are a specialty & emergency vet, and for the oncology, you will need a referral from your regular vet. Not sure about other chronic illnesses but you can check out their website or call.

My experience with GVS was several years ago. I was incredibly disappointed with their service. My impression was that the staff there was nice enough; however they simply seemed too overwhelmed by the caseload to give the pets and their owners the attention they deserved.

My cat was diagnosed with lymphoma and went to GVS for treatment. He was put on chemotherapy, but deteriorated VERY quickly. After Sam's diagnosis, I would often call with questions...as I'd never had a pet with cancer before. I always got the voicemail of Sam's oncologist. One of the nurses would usually call me back at some point, and simply tell me that the clinic was open 24 hours if I was concerned and wanted to bring Sam in (mind you, GVS is not inexpensive). That seemed to be the response to any question I asked.

I brought Sam in one day because he has deteriorated very much overnight. He was thin, would not eat or drink and could not control his bladder. GVS kept him that day and put him on IV fluids. When I called that afternoon, I was told I could come and pick him up. He seemed to be in worse shape than when I brought him in, but I took him with me. That night, he was in agony. I made the decision to put him down the next day. I called and made the appointment with my WONDERFUL primary vet (Ansley Animal Clinic). I also left a message for Sam's oncologist to let him know of my decision and tell him that I would appreciate a call from him before I took Sam in. I never heard a word...until...the following week when I came home to a message on my answering machine reminding about Sam's chemo appointment the following day.

I truly cannot think of anything good to say about GVS. To me, they seemed too harried and overworked...and primarily concerned about making money.

Pros: none

Cons: too busy to give pets/owners the time and attention they need
