We take the kids to the Alpharetta location for dental and orthodontics. Their billing department and front office staff are difficult to deal with. They have pushed extra services on us to increase their fees. They would not make an appointment for our child because of a missed payment. We offered to pay on the next visit, but this was apparently not good enough.

Verify with your insurance what they will pay before you have any work done!!!!

I have been to this office 3 times and each time have been misquoted and have ended up paying large amounts of money out of pocket. When I have called to talk to the billing department about the bills I have been transferred to voice mail repeatedly left messages and have not been contacted back.

The ladies at the front desk have been rude and flippant and made the visits to the office uncomfortable. I will say that the dentists and dental hygienists were kind, but I feel they try to get you to do procedures that are not needed. I went in for a cleaning and was told that I needed a deep cleaning that would run me around $250.00 out of pocket (this after what the insurance would supposedly pay). I've had my teeth cleaned every year and have never been told I needed something like this. I kept waiting for the typical "check" up where they check for cavities and never did any one even check my teeth, only my gum's. I could go on and on but won't. I will just not use their services for any of my family.

I am frustrated that I am stuck with this practice for the next 18 months!!!!!
I have yet to have them correctly bill me for any services that I have had preformed. I had a routine cleaning done last month where they wanted the second set of x-rays in one year. I specifically asked if it would be covered by my insurance because typically they only cover one set per year. They stated yes and sure enough I received a bill in the mail for the x rays that my insurance did not cover. I also had to come an extra $500 out of pocket for a crown that they misquoted.

I recently had braces put on and through a series of misinformation on which teeth were going to have brackets on - my crown broke (they originally stated that that tooth would not have a bracket and I would have had work done on before getting the braces had I known that I would have to have a temporary crown for 18 months). When I tried to schedule an appointment to have my bracket and crown fixed the front desk person hung up on me.

I have also received and invoice in the mail for the remaining balance for the braces because they submitted my information to the wrong insurance company. When I tried to get that matter resolved I was told to call back and talk to Kim. I have yet been able to get in touch with Kim.

I am embarrassed by my own level of stupidity for continuing with this practice.

Ratings_icons Imagix dental give wrong estimate to trick you!

Lily C.

I am very unhappy with imagix dental because I feel that they do un-necessary work on my son's teeth and give me wrong estimate. During my son's regular visit in Jan., they told me that he has 4 cavities on his baby teeth, and give me an estimate of $190 out of pocket after insurance. I was hesitate to do the filling because my son is 9 years old, and his baby teeth should soon be replaced by permanent teeth. At another visit to extract a baby teeth, they wanted to do the filling together, and we did and paid the estimated amount. Then they sent me another bill for $140 because insurance only pay silver filling instead of composite filling. They never told me that, and I feel that they did it on purpose. I'll definitely not see them again.

Ratings_icons jones bridge location - find another dentist.

This place is fine for children who have no dental issues and just need a quick cleaning. But for adults, they recommend many ridiculous "extra services" and fees that insurance doesn't cover.

My children's cleaning went well. No problems. They did not want me present during their exams, but did not insist, so I was able to accompany them during their entire visit.

My own experience, as well as that of my husband's, was unbelievable. They wanted to charge extra fees for everything (over and above what my insurance would pay). They also told me I needed to come 3x a year, and pay out-of-pocket for whatever my insurance didn't cover. This is ridiculous b/c I have a total of 4 cavities and no other dental issues. They also wanted to sell me all kinds of stuff (oral cancer screening, mouth wash, dental guards). They took impressions for the dental guard 3xs and still haven't gotten it right. Now they don't want to refund my money.

My husband was so dissatisfied, he went and saw another dentist shortly after visiting this place. His new dentist was amazed that my husband had a giant cavity that Imagix missed.

ANNOYMOUS A.

I will never go back to this office. The office is very nice but I think that they try to charge you for all of these services that you don't need to pay for the flat screens and the other things in their office. I went in to have a cleaning done but when I left, I never got the cleaning because they want to charge me $500 for a cleaning.I have never paid that much for a cleaning in my life. Dr. Medders claims that I need to have so much done to my teeth when I am a person that constantly get a cleaning twice a year. I have so many upgrade fess that I have no idea of why I am being charged these fees. I was quoted with almost over $4000 of of services that needs to be done. I had a second opinion and a third opinion that looked at my x-rays that said that some of the things that I need to have done is ridiculous. They will not get my money nor will I allow my insurance to pay for their outrageous fees.

I have never enjoyed going to the dentist, but my experience with this office was wonderful. They worked around my schedule and were always friendly when I entered the office. After 4 days and 16 hours of seat time they even called and checked up on me 2-3 times to make sure I was ok. I will never go to another dentist and will always refer anyone needing any work done to this office.

Ratings_icons Very Happy with Services!

Anonymous

I have three adopted special needs children. Two are in braces. Imagix (Alpharetta, GA) has been wonderful in treating them and understanding the need to communicate on their level. We are there at least twice a month. I also use them and am happy with their services. They are by no means your high end swank dental office, but neither are their prices. Pricing is very reasonable. I left a much higher priced dentist, where I paid 2x the amount for a crown. However, they are not at the lower-end in pricing but neither are their services. The treatment is above satisfactory. They have had to reschedule a few times, but I have had to reschedule much more and they have been very accomodating. I have never had anyone be rude. Our waiting time has always been fairly short. I think the greatest plus is that I only have to get to know one staff for the entire family and having ortho and dental in the same office is ideal. If you are extremely picky go to a high-end dentist. However, if you have a lot of work to be done as I have and a big family with dental needs, the Imagix staff in Alpharetta are very willing to work with you, move at a pace that works for you, and tell you upfront what costs are involved everytime.

After a series of appointments at the Alpharetta office had been rescheduled by Imagix, in the middle of the conversation about why there were so many rescheduled appointments, the person on the phone hung up!!! I called back and spoke to Tracey the office manager who was equally rude and unable to help beyond setting another date (which would be our third attempt)

Imagine my surprise when I got home tonight, and in my mailbox was a letter from the dentist, a Dr Shehata, cancelling our service. Now, it should be stated that we never received a call from Dr Shehata, he arbitrarily canceled without hearing our side of the story. Now, we were moving on anyway, but you should be warned.

Ratings_icons Not happy with this practice

I have changed dentists 4 times in 5 years. They are awful around here. Not the medical treatment but the sales/billing practices. I took my 3 kids to this practice. My one son had braces at the time and they recommended that he have an additional cleaning in between his 6 mo. check ups They said that it would be a 35.00 charge not covered by insurance but I agreed to make an appt. to have an additional cleaning for him. When I showed up they explained that they would be charging me for a cleaning, fluoride, and a check up by the dentist. I explained he just had a check up 3 mos. ago and didn't need that, but they said that they wouldn't be able to clean his teeth unless the dentist checked him as well which would charge me another 65.00 plus the cleaning fee and fluoride none of which was covered by the insurance. I told them to forget it then and left. They insisted that my kids needed the bite wings at every appt. even though the ins. didn't cover it. When I said that I didn't think they needed them every 6 mos. they said they couldn't treat my kids without approving them. I wasn't even told of this policy on our 2nd trip and found out when I had to pay them 0ver $100 dollars for the uncovered fees and xrays. Needless to say, I go elsewhere.

The reason I am writing this is because rarely anyone writes when they have a great experience. The people there are so friendly and nice. The doctors there are wonderful. I had a appointment recently and have never enjoyed the dentist until I went there. From the front desk to the back I felt so at ease every step. They really care about each and every patient, that much is very obvious. I highly recommend going to this office.

I was not impressed at all at this practice. I went here as a new patient for a cleaning and check up. I told them that I had already gotten my x rays done at my other dentist this year. They said that was fine but they still wanted to do the bite wings. When I got the bill, the insurance did not cover these again and I had told them that but they insisted they would be covered! GRRRRR... They told me I needed a deep cleaning to which I agreed and did it that day. I was to come back for my cleaning. Though the dentist was friendly enough and told me I had 3 cavities, when I returned for another visit to get them filled I saw a different dentist who told me that I only had one that needed filling (great news, but who do I trust?). SO I get the cavity filled and the cleaning, was told to rinse with flouride treatment, get to the front counter and was charged $15 for the 1 oz of rinse! Had I known up front that I would be paying out of pocket $15 for a 30 second swish swish I would have declined. I spent a few moments arguing the charges with the office staff who was most unfriendly and had me pay the balance of my previous visit (the xrays that hadn't been covered, the copay, the rinse, etc) and I felt like they were really nickel and diming their customers in a most sneaky way.
