We went to Sun Valley as kids and now that we have kids, we have been visiting the park for about 5 summer seasons. This season, however, will sadly be our last unless things change. After the addition of the parking fee, which was not added until after we purchased season passes which advertised "free parking" and observing a constant state of disrepair all summer, we cannot continue to patronize such a dishonest, unsafe business.
?Consistently dirty water containing sand and bugs
?A large hole in the bottom of the pool (located in middle section between shallow & deep ends)
?Rusty slides
?Tall weeds growing in picnic area
?Rusty playground equipment
?Tall weeds growing in playground area
?Uncovered trash cans swarming with flies and yellowjackets
?Cracks in sidewalk around pool
?Weeds growing in beach area
?Paint peeling on slides
?Two slides in deep end not functioning and holding stagnant water
* Filthy bathrooms

I have a difficult time believing that anyone could give this place anything more than a completely abysmal review. I took my family there last Saturday for a fun day at the end of summer. What a terrible mistake. The place was way overpriced, dirty and unsafe. We left almost immediately. There was debris, cigarette buts and even used band-aids floating in the water. There were bits of broken concrete and trash in sand on the :"beach". The place was very poorly maintained and appeared to me to be very unsafe. The stairs going to the slides were rotten and had pieces of the railing either loose or missing. There was rusted and corroded pieces of hardware throughout. I even noticed missing fasteners and bolts. The fiberglass was in disrepair and had holes and sharp pieces of broken fiberglass on the slides. There was a broken lifeguard chair in the water with broken metal with sharp rusty edges and rotted wood. We took pictures of what we found and uploaded them here...take a look for yourself. We approached the owner and voiced our complaints and requested a refund. His reply was rude and I could honestly say that we felt intimidated when we pointed out our various concerns. We contacted the Better Business Bureau to lodge a formal complaint and noticed the business had an F rating. This place was discussing, filthy and unsafe. Do yourself a favor, stay away at all costs.

I have been going to Sun Valley for Ten Years and I have never seen a parent told they must hold their children's hands, unless were talking about toddlers.

I do not recall ever seeing a sign saying we are responsible for your children. Be a responsible parent and watch your children. Know and understand their abilities.

The segregation comment is not true. I have never seen that. Some folks of darker color prefer to sit in the shade, but they are not made to.

The police come only when people are not obeying the rules after being warned several times (I have seen this). The owners seem friendly, although they cannot be everywhere all the time to see what the employees are saying. Ask for the manager or owner if there are issues.

There has been alot of problems at Sun Valley for alot of years. The rest room is why we stop going. When you see the pipe to the rest room over flowing on the grown year after year. It is time to stop going. The price is to high to still have this problem.

To the lady the had so many lies to tell about Sun Valley I'd like to say shame on you. I've been going to Sun Valley for 4 years straight with my grandchildren and the things you said are just not true. Obviously you had some sort of bad expreience, and I sympathize with you there, but to make up all the things that you said is so unfair. For your childrens sake you need to learn to be honest when telling someone of a bad expreience. It's because of people like you that we have so much racial tension in our world, there has never been any type of segregation at that place. Please grow up.

This place sucked!!!! I took my daughter and some friends to Sun Valley Beach for her 9th birthday and we were treated badly. All the people of color had to stay to one side of the pool, while all the white people were on the other side--so the pool was segregated. The restrooms were "out of order" so everyone i assumed used to pool--and the smell of the pool is proof of this. The woman lifeguard was rude to all the kids and nasty to their parents. She said that all the kids under the age of 7 had to hold their parents hands while in the pool--WHAT??? How is this possible---this woman made it impossible to have a good time. 30 minutes later the same lady changed to rule by saying kids under the 12 must have an adult in the pool with them--my kids are excellent swimmer but were not able to go pass the kiddy pool--they could not even go into the 3 feet....The water slides did not have water coming down them, so you could not successfully slide down without scarring up your legs. The pool was nasty, dirty and smelled like spoiled fish. They called the police on so many kids to put them out of the pool--for no reason(this is not fair after people pay good money to get in) They are so rude and nasty to everyone but you just have to take it because they will not issue you a refund when you try to leave. This place is over priced and not worth the money you pay. I will not recommend this place to anyone because you will not enjoy it. The customer service sucked!!!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!!!

Cons: terrible customer service

The place is a dump, not to mention un-safe. I believe they have a few lawsuits already. Management is very rude, and the place is way overpriced. The manager called my mother after 10PM to fuss her out about a refund that was requested only moments after the credit card was charged. Due to the fact that although the pavilion was rented for a birthday party and all tickets purchased for the children, but the parents (swimming or not) had to pay $18 just to go to the party.
They offer no refunds, and stole over $100 of our money.
I would suggest the county pool's at only a few dollars a head.

Home to the largest pool in the Southeast, Sun Valley Beach is gallons of fun! Not just a pool, there are 11 waterslides, a showering umbrella, dolphin fountain, lumber jack log roll, diving platforms and tarzan swinging ropes. In addition to the water areas, there are a playground area, rental pavilions, picnic areas, grills and a concession stand. They do have beach chairs but they are on a first come-first served basis so you may want to bring your own.

Sun Valley Beach is a fun place to take the kids on a hot summer day. The little ones can play and you don't have to worry about too much craziness that happens at White Water. We picnic and just relax . I do think it is a bit expensive and we do it only as a special treat.
