I had a fall wedding at Primrose Cottage. After reading the reviews here, I had to write about my experience. My wedding was fabulous, friends and family are still talking about the food and flowers months later!
All the costs were detailed in my estimate, and I was even given a brochure with all of the possible menu choices, bar choices, and anything that would be an additional cost was listed in my brochure. There were not surprises, I was even given a brochure with floral pricing.
I am so glad we did it at Primrose, they made things so easy and the day was incredible.

I was planning my wedding from out of town so I wanted a place that would make things as easy as possible and Primrose did. Very attentive service, great food and beautiful decor. Family and friends are still talking about our reception and it was over a month ago.

Primrose Cottage was a dream come true during planning. I was planning from a distance and they were able to work with me when I was in the area and by phone. They were proactive and attentive throughout the planning process. The food was delicious and decor was beautiful. Our reception director kept us on track and catered to our needs throughout the night. We even used them for our ceremony flowers at a Church. Our family and friends were impressed by the professionalism, food, service and decor. Primrose Cottage and Magic Moments made our vision a reality.

Like most of the other reviewers, there is a lot of add-on fees that are not initially disclosed. I have organized a number of corporate events and consulted with a friend to help her select a location for her wedding. I asked questions that were not answered directly and asked for notations and clarifications on paperwork which they were not comfortable with accommodating.

From the moment I saw Primrose Cottage on the internet, I knew I wanted to check it out for my upcoming wedding. The grounds and home are quite beautiful. When you enter the front door, there is a sign that states someone will be with you in a moment...please make yourself comfortable. So, my fiance' looked around a bit and waited. Then we waited some more. We heard people meeting upstairs so we didn't want to disturb them. After 30 minutes past our appointment time, we decided to see if anyone was going to bother with us at all. One girl upstairs said she didn't hear us come in and shooed us back downstairs to wait. Once our meeting began we spent the first 15 minutes listening to what was going on with the previous couple and how hectic their plans were. Hmm. The meeting continued with our wedding constantly being referred to as a "production" which is not what we were looking for. Then when pricing was discussed, not a lot was included in the "all-inclusive" package. We decided to go with another beautiful antebellum home in the area for less cost and everything actually included...and then some.

Also, Primrose staff did not follow up with me or my fiance' on our visit there until more than a month later. When I advised them we were going with another location, the girl said ok and hung up the phone. Thank goodness, we made the right choice.

Primrose was very cooperative when planning our company holiday party. They were willing to work with us on our many special requests. As a result, we were blessed with great food in a beautiful setting.

I had my wedding at Primrose this past fall. When we first visited it, the staff blew us away and did a great job selling the beautiful location. After the contract was signed, it went down hill. There was one hidden fee after another. They charged you to put flowers in the urns out front, to plug in their decorative lights outside, to put table clothes on the tables, and even to set the tables for a full buffet!! Yes, we paid $5 a person for them to set the tables with silverware, napkins, water glasses, and to put out dinner plates instead of salad size plates at the buffet. They also make the bride and groom leave 30 minutes before the contract time is up. We had to purchase an additional hour at the cost of $500. It's one thing if those are their policies, but a lot of fees were not discosed in any paperwork that was provided to us before or after the contract was signed. I will admit that we had a beautiful day and the staff treated us like royalty that day, but everything in between the day the contract was signed and the wedding day was awful. We definitely felt like we had experiened the old bait and switch. The week leading up to the wedding was just filled with regret for chosing Primrose. I still loved our day and enjoyed it to the fullest, but I would advise future brides to keep looking at other locations that may be more honest with you than Primrose was with us.

If you're looking for a nice place for an outdoor wedding that will bear much of the burden of planning for you, Primrose Cottage makes a lovely choice.

Being married beneath the stately branches of a 300-year old oak tree lends a dose of reality to the occasion when two lovebirds pledge forever. Bricked pathways, seasonal flowers, and lovely period decor give this antebellum home all the charm it needs to help you have a beautiful wedding your guests will never forget.

An attentive staff provide planning and wedding direction services, in-house catering services, flowers, and can meet many other needs. Of course, you can also use all outside vendors or a combination of the two to create the wedding of your dreams.

PROS: reasonable cost, service
CONS: located among a dozen other similar venues
