I took an acoustic guitar in for a bridge pin replacement...I left with the same guitar with NO strings or bridge pins (The repair tech was kind enough to give me three loose ones...). Now, I work as a professional musician and music educator in a major city and brought my guitar to them while visiting family thinking I was doing a good thing by giving business to a local shop. I let the repair tech give me his spiel about how this happened which basically amounted to him blaming the shape of my bridge pins...totally BS!

I am appaulled a)how the repair tech handled this(He never apologized for breaking three bridge pins or even admitted to it) b)his lack of concern for either my satisfaction...or even actually acquiring the parts needed to FIX what he did. He actually suggested I visit musiciansfriend.com and order the parts myself!

I also purchased an oboe reed from them...total crap! I would not under any circumstances as a music educator recommend this shop to a student or ANYONE for that matter!!!! Stay away and after all...as he was nice enough to point out...you can order most stuff online.

I think this store is, unfortunately, a prime example of a retail outlet that doesn't know anything about what they are selling or at least the hired help doesn't...in a field such as music it is imperative that you a)sell quality products b)are able to FIX and repair instruments...

Pros: Friendly Staff

Cons: Inexperienced Staff; No concern for customer satisfaction

The music room used to be the place to go to get your student line instruments. They offered fix it service at your school....since seem to have been replaced by other companies...

My experience with the Music Room, Inc. in Rome, GA was not a good one. Where I came from you are only as good as your WORD. I rented a snare drum set for my son in middle school. I was hesitant to rent an instrument because he was undecided what he wanted to play. At the school meeting the gentleman said you had absolutely nothing to loose by renting from them. If in the first 12 months you decided you no longer wanted to rent from them, you could simply return the instrument and you would receive 75% of your cost back. I did not rent that day because my son was undecided. I called the store and spoke with someone and they verified what I had heard at the meeting. I went into the store and the clerk at the register also verified the same. We rented the set for 6 weeks then returned it after paying for two full months of rent. When I returned the set the clerk said he had never heard of receiving a refund of 75% before and I needed to call the accountant on Monday. I waited until Friday to call and spoke with Heather. She said I had misunderstood. Apparently I misunderstood THREE different times and three different people. I do no consider myself a genius but I also am not an idiot. I had three people tell me the same thing BEFORE I rented from them. Suddenly when it came time to refund, things changed. Just beware when renting from these people. Obviously the are not as good as their WORD.
