I just had to visit after hearing how open they were to the L/G/B/T community. Even though they have a "gay sunday school class", i was never made to feel welcomed. And when i 1st visited crossdressed, some members insulted me! When i tried to get involved with their activities, the activity director sent me a scathing e-mail & accusing me of being a trouble maker! Of course, the activity director was simply a non paid volunteer & not on church staff, but still, I WAS HURT & DEEPLY OFFENDED! So after visiting a few more times, & feeling alone & ignored, i stoped attending.

This is a very open congregation of believers who actually live out Jesus' call to love EVERYONE. Everything about the church is diverse, including the ministries: feeding and clothing the homeless, helping the addicted, loving the unloved, and testifying that God's love is unconditional. Plus, the music and fine arts ministry is awesome!

Pros: Welcoming congregation that is open to ALL

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I have never felt so loved and accepted in a church before. This is a place where my family can worship the loving God. We searched all over Atlanta and the surrounding areas and this church immediately felt like home.

Pros: open and accepting; drama, choir, overall programs

Cons: drive into midtown

I have been to several churches in the past and St Mark was the first to accept me for who I am and not try to change me. People I met are warm and friendly. Ministers really care about their flock. Music and Drama departments are first rate. The Grief Support Group is awesome and helped me most when I was feeling my worst. God Bless this church.

I felt at home the minute I walked through the middle of the three RED DOORS on Peachtree Street over 5 years ago. This is the only place I know where EVERYONE is welcome - no matter who you are, no matter what you look like, no matter what your background, and certainly no matter what your sexual orientation.
I invite you to come!

Pros: Loving, accepting congregation, beautiful setting, many opportunities for service to God.

Cons: Parking isn't totally convenient, but they're working on it.

Well, not sure how the 2006 review lasted so long on here without response...but, I have to say I disagree. St. Mark is a loving, nurturing, welcoming church. The congregation is growing, and the community outreach is so exciting. If you are looking for a place that welcomes everyone, no matter what...this is the place. God surely blessed the corner of 5th and Peachtree with St. Mark. I have been a member of the church for a little over a year now, and I have seen God's miracles happen here. Join us!! You will not regret it for one minute!!

Pros: Beautiful building, wonderful people, awesome ministers, fantastic outreach programs, amazing music program

Cons: parking at times...oh well! You are in Midtown!!

Great clergy but a very unfriendly congregation. If your only desire is to hear a good sermon you won't be disappointed, but if you are looking for friends and outreach keep on looking.
