Every month or two I meet with a former business colleague for lunch in Douglasville. In April 2007 we settled on Yummy European Caf (off Chapel Hill Road in a small strip mall across from Kohl's). Yummy (for short) offers a unique menu of soups, sandwiches and entrees with origins from all across Europe.

I was pleased to find a very neat and clean restaurant that was quaintly decorated. On this particular Wednesday, it wasn't very busy and our order was taken quickly.

I ordered the Chicken Florentine soup along with a turkey and cheese crepe for my entre and was pleased to find that both exceeded my expectation. There were no strange or harsh flavors which I had feared were mandatory in any dish dubbed "truly authentic". Just to be sure, however, a perfectly blended glass of sweat tea assured that my taste buds stayed grounded in the South.

This really was a pleasant surprise. If you happen to be enjoying a casual day shopping in Douglasville, Yummy European Caf is worth a visit. You might find something yummy here too!

Although it isn't much to look at, the food is what makes this place so special. His cakes and pies will melt in your mouth and curl your toes they are so good.

Pros: Good food, good food, good food

Cons: out of the way, turn over of servers, small

This little restaurant is one of my favorites. It is a great combination of laid back family style and world class food. The owner/chef is exceptional - both in food and friendliness. There is an incredible range of foods available, with regional takes on European foods. He also has a great selection of deserts and even the most legit gelato I have found in the local area. The cost is reasonable -- remember to save room for desert (or at least get some to take home).

PROS:
CONS: None.
