Thorsen James R Dvm - Animal Health Ctr

My husband took our pet there while living in Ft. Benning, Ga. Now that we lived in NC is very disappointed to find out we wont be able to continue our pet treatment because their policy is they only want you to buy the pets medications with them.

Wonderful place to take your animals. The groomer is amazing and has a lot of experence under her belt i think if i'm not mistaking she said she has been in the business 20 yrs now. The clinic in all is a wonderful enviroment, very clean, very cheerful. i love the people and the Dr.'s. I HIGHLY RECOMEND EVERYONE TO TAKE THEIR ANIMALS HERE!

I have to say all of my families pets have been going to this vet my whole life. Starting with the Doctors, Dr. Thorsen and Dr. Gasser make a wonderful team helping animals and their owners. They both have treated all of my pets for years. I would never choose a vet over them. The employees as well care deeply about every animal that walks through them doors of the clinic. I want to take this time to say I am thankful for all the time that has been spent by the Doctors and employees caring for my pets. Words can not explain how greatly i appreciate everything that has been done for my family! So thank you to the Doctors and thank you to all the staff for a wonderful 20 yrs!

I first came to AMC at my daughter's recommendation, having moved here from MD. I take my poodle to AHC for grooming and check-ups. Everyone is kind and attentive to me, but one time in particular Dr. T met me at the office at midnight as my dog was sick. After checking her out, he reassured me that everything would be fine. As a senior citizen, I appreciate the patience and kindness they show towards me. My questions are never left unanswered. I appreciate everything that AHC does for me and my dog.

I have taken my animals to AHC for the 10 yeas that I have lived in GA. I have had nothing by kind and compassionate service from everyone, from the Drs., to the techs, to the front desk personnel. Through terrible times, i.e., putting to sleep my 20 year old cat, hospitalizing my Boston Bull Terrier for a week with stomach problems and surgery on my mixed shepherds's leg) I received nothing by the kindest service. All my tears and fears were put to rest by the staff. No one complained about the million phone calls to check on my pets. I even got calls to let me know that my Bull dog was doing better. I would like to take this opportunity to offer a personal THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to all the great people at AHC.

I have taken all my pets to AHC for almost ten years. Today, my sick father asked me to take his dog in for grooming. I choose to take the dog to AHC. I asked to receptionist to call my father's vet to get the dogs shot records.See said that I had to personally go retrieve the records from Phenix City. I asked to speak with Dr. Thorsen about the matter. He refused to speak with me and told the receptionist to tell me to take the dog to Phenix City. I have terminated the services of AHC for all my pets.

The office has some good vets I think, but I cannot recommend it. They seem knowledgable about the animals, but not their staff. I called on more than one occassion to try to find out if they had medicine for my dog so that I would not make a useless trip there only to get the answering machine. Although I left a message each time, I would say that I probably got a call back twice out of ten times. I did not feel as if they cared for my business at all. This after I let the vets know about not getting a call back. When I went to pick up my records, I did not feel as if Dr. Thorsen cared whether I stayed or left nor did he seem to care why I was leaving.

I couldn't disagree more with some posts here. The staff and doctors at Animal Health Center have always been very thorough in explaining test and treatments and costs. I have used them for 18 years. They always seem to have the best interests of my pets as their first priority

I took my puppy Mary Lou to Animal Health Center to be spayed. The people were all so nice and I was very comfortable leaving my Mary Lou there. During the surgery Dr Thorsen noticed that Mary Lou's puppy teeth had not fallen out like they were supposed to. Unable to contact me he removed them while Mary Lou was still asleep . He saved me at least $40.00 and more importantly kept Mary Lou from having to be put to sleep again to have the teeth pulled. Mary Lou did great, I couldn't even tell she had surgery and she was eating and drinking at home the same day. I am glad Dr. Thorsen took the extra time to take care of Mary Lou's teeth to prevent crooked teeth as she grew up.

These folks are fantastic! After the tornado Dr. Thorsen's staff were on the phone the very next day calling to check on us and our puppies. They offered to keep them free of charge for 2 weeks while we repaired our house. Thats one reason we've been using Animal Health Center for years

I strongly recommend this vet. I took my first himalayan cat there several years ago. I took her to Dr. Thorson for several years for her shots and he treated her for pancreatitis. After he diagnosed her with kidney failure he gave me 2 treatment options. I chose not to put my cat through the treatments since she had always been such a great and caring cat and I felt that she should go on her own time and not mine. After about a month and a half when she started to suffer I took her back to AHC and Dr. Thorson put her to sleep at no charge. I really felt like they cared. I couldn't bare the thought of having a bill to pay and no cat to take home.

I use Dr. Thorson to treat my current cat. I have been taking her to him for several years for just her yearly shots. She had never been sick until a couple of months ago. When I took her in he determined that she had a blockage in her bladder and it was severly inflamed. Her bladder ruptured and Dr. Thorson stayed several hours after closing that night performing emergency surgery on her that saved her life. I was able to go into the office daily while my cat was there and visit with her. Dr. Thorson took the time to answer all of my questions, 2 pages worth. Dr. Thorson and his staff really cared about my cat and I know that she was well taken care of. After my cat came home I took her back daily for the next 4 days to have her checked to make sure that everything was ok. AHC did not charge me for each time that I took her back even though I brought her in more often then they recommended. His charges were less then I expected and were what he told me they would be before he did the surgery. I expected my bill to be much higher then it actually was.

I strongly recommend AHC and Dr. Thorson.

The staff here is amazing, even in an emergency situation. They are all kind and caring, and they love their jobs. The vet is absolutely one of the best in this area, and they offer a wide array of treatments. This is the best place to take your pets if you love them like family. The prices are reasonable and the office is always clean.

This is one place where I will always bring my pets. They are just as concerned as you are about the health of your pet, and they go out of their way to make you comfortable and make your pet comfortable. They are even great during emergencies, making time to treat your pets and give you reassurance. They are also moderately priced.

This is a great place to take your pet. The vets are great and so is the staff. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. You will love to take your pet here.
