This store is a great concept for parents with teens and tweens. However I believe that their buying practices are a little shady! I have observed the employess for several years and what I have noticed is that customers that come in wiith large quanties of clothing with tags seem to be the ones that walk out with the CASH! These customers claim that they are cleaning out their closets!!! Hmmm...seems to me more like cleaning out retail stores. (Yes) I have observed teens and even older females bring in clothes in large trash bags....Almost everything....yes...everything would be accepted! On the other hand, I have observed individuals pull up in nice cars and almost look to be somewhat t embarrassed to be there in the first place; bring in their merchandise only to have just a few items selected. I know this is their perogative....but....I don't know about this one folks! Anyways....the ones that like them....KEEP SHOPPING THERE! But for those of us who like a little courtesy along with our exchange of cash from one hand to another...you might try "Googling" second hand stores, consignment shops around the metro. There are some super nice ones out there! I found one just north of the Barrett Pkwy. Platos!! Me and my girl friends just make a day of it and drive the 45 min. drive to a little town called Calhoun. It is just off Interstate 75 between Cartersville and Dalton. Woww at the finds. The last trip that we made we found out that they have 2 stores. Their big store I'm told is over 10,000 sq. ft. They have the cutest clothes, some new, and some used...all in great shape....and get this....most sold for under two dollars Cute jeans, tops and capri's. I asked...how in the world do ya'll do it......they replied "we never buy"! Everyone that has something to GIVE...DONATES TO US! In turn....we give back by selling at LOW PRICES..to help out people who need it the most. We were so impressed that we plan on telling all of our friends and taking a passenger van on the weekend to shop there. They are lovely people and always greet the customers with a smile and a hello....and THANKS FOR SHOPPING WITH US! So to all of you that are reading this I will tell you there is an alternative to Platos Closet and it is WHITTLES & CO. THRIFT STORE and their 2nd location you actually will get to first when you get off the interstate is called "YesWeCan Thriftstore just after the DQ. They were having a sidewalk sale and all the clothes were just $l.00 . "I racked up...lol". ....Save some fore me!!!!

Pros: an option for name brands for less

Cons: racks are packed/small stores/musty smells

i agree. the girls that work there are SO mean. they didn't buy my tommy hilfiger, mudd, lei stuff. they said they are looking more for designer denim, skinny jeans, high-waisted jeans, etc. that just is not fair. i have good stuff that i want to sell to them but they're not going to take it because they're being "selective" right now. i don't get it. it's not like they have to look through 1,000,000,000 buys a day. why can't they just take my 1999 tommy jeans and give me five bucks for them? i mean, someone will buy it, right? and also i don't get why they listen to reggae all the damn time. that shart went out when boob marley croaked. WTF. ps- plato's: YOU SUCK. and your displays suck harder. come on, put forth some effort when trying to make your store astetichally pleasing- you're the ones who've got to look at it EVERY day. i feel sorry for those poor bozos.

I took some really nice clothes, that were hardly worn and for what they would have given me for them, I could have maybe bought a value meal at Mcdonalds! Needless to say, I won't do business with them and wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

I agree with Lonni. My mother and I took my niece's old Mudd, Hollister, American Eagle, & Abercrombie & Fitch, clothing in to sell...(exactly the brands they sell in the store!?!?!?) the staff was incredibly insensitive, and rude. We had a huge stack of jeans, some almost new, and see took all of maybe 5 seconds to "look through" the stack ( and no..I'm not exaggerating!), then said I can't use any of these. With no reason why.....my mother who has custody of My niece does her best to provide for her...and she just wanted to sell my niece's old clothing to make a little extra money to buy her some new things. And the woman at the counter acted like we were disrupting her whole day by entering the store....basically making us feel like we aren't the type of people she buys from....she made her decision when she saw us...way before she pretended to look at the clothes. All I can say is the store really should treat their patrons with a little respect. I won't shop there because of the way we were treated. I'd rather go to the mall, buy new, and spend more...... at least we get treated with a little common courtesy,

If you're hoping to sell your used clothing at this store, you may come away bitterly disappointed. My children and a few of their friends have yet to have much success in that arena and we are perplexed and have yet to understand their buying strategy. While they claim they prefer certain brands and clothing dated within a particular time frame, they did not seem to follow their own guidelines. While the merchandise we brought to the store met that criteria, little to anything was accepted. Yet we saw far older merchandise in the store -- and a good portion of that was far from what I would term "gently used". A multitude of brands were found - yet we were told they did not buy brands we brought in (yet we saw the same brand in the store). While I do think that they had some really great deals, I found little that offered a reason to shop there (or that offered much appeal over your average Goodwill or thrift store). The shop seemed crowded and a little dingy. Staff was too busy chatting among themselves and were arrogant to rude to several other people ahead of me who had come to try to sell their clothes. Staff should be reminded that they should leave people with their dignity and treat them with respect. They never know who their potential customers may be. I'm sure that if that was their normal way of dealing with the public, they have most certainly lost potential sales.

This is a nice store for teens and young adults to trade , buy and sell used clothing and goods that appeal to this age group. Don't expect to get alot for your items though. The shop is normally organized and clean but the music is Loud. I do like that you can basicly trade your old stuff in for different stuff. They also carry so hard to find items that are no longer sold in retail stores - Think last years jeans that you wore out and would love to find another pair of!
