My family and I have been members of SCC since 1991 and we absolutely love it!!! The first thing that I hear when I tell people that I attend SCC is "Wow....it's a big church".....I am always puzzled by this statement though. I think it is great that SCC is making such a large impact in our community. Some people prefer small churches and some prefer big churches....I used to be one that liked the small church atmostphere too.... But, I found out that the more people that I met, the more involved I became, and the more I ENJOYED going to church...and the more I wanted to learn about Jesus Christ. Not everyone can say that!!! To get connected in a large church (or community, school, etc), you need to be involved. If you do not get involved, you will not be connected. It's pretty simple. SCC keeps the MAIN thing (Jesus Christ) at the center of everything. Coming to church with a servant heart and a servant attitude makes all the difference in the world. It's not about "how the church can serve me", but rather "how can I serve the church".....by serving, I am following the best example ever set out before us!!! Thank you SCC for allowing me to serve God. It is my home away from home - and I wouldn't have it any other way. May God continue to BLESS SCC!!! :)

I began attending Savannah Christian Church in 2004 after twelve years at another church where I did not feel like I was truly a part of the "Family of God". The first four years I sat in the very back of the church and would leave during the alter call. I did not feel plugged in and struggled with going or not some weekends. In 2008 my husband was laid off from work, both of my parents were in the hospital, I was afraid I was losing my home and my sanity not to mention going through the change of life. I wrote a note on one of the comment cards at church sharing what was going on and ending it with "stick a fork in me, I'm done!" I had two of the loveliest ladies reach out to me and help me to get involved with a ladies group. I have found my place at Savannah Christian's Celebrate Recovery Group in that it is their for people who struggle with hurts, habits and hang-ups (which I have all three). My life is being literally transformed by the ministry and the encouragement and transparency with which Pastor Cam shares is refreshing and inspiring. My husband and I have been in Savannah since 1991 and I truly thank God for this ministry and for bringing me to Celebrate Recovery. I am not the same person I was last year and I trust that God who began a good work in me will continue to do His work as I look to Him for everything! God bless you in your search of your church home.

My husband and I moved to Savannah, GA a few months ago after my husband got stationed at Hunter Army Airfield. We were instantly welcomed, and although the church is large, were offered many opportunities to "get connected" with programs in the church. We went through their "What we Believe" class and their "Getting Connected" class, and joined a few weeks later. We were never asked about our income, or asked to provide a W-2.......
Our children are very involved in the children's ministry, and the middle school Blitz program is AMAZING! Our middle school son just returned from a Purity Retreat with Biltz, and it was amazing to see the spiritual growth one can achieve in a weekend!
My husband and I have just started leading a small group bible study at our house on Sunday nights. This is Savannah Christian's way of bringing a large community together into more intimate small groups. We have enjoyed many hours of bible study, fellowship, (and fun) with other believers!
If you want a church that takes its direction from the Bible, and who is committed to leading people to a life changing connection to Christ, Savannah Christian Church is the place for you!
It is a big church, but it is making a B-I-G impact for Christ!

I have been going to Savannah Christian Church for several years. I feel that it is by far the best church I have ever attended.
The church family really makes you feel welcome. There are many programs to get involved in, the sermons are relevant to current events, and the music is amazing.
My daughter attended the Growing in the Son program. When she started preschool, the teacher complimented us on our daughter's development thus far. We attribute that to our partnership with the GIS staff and Kidztown staff on the weekends.
What I really like are the small groups. Yes, it is a large church. The church organizes into small groups that meet once a week to discuss the week's sermon and perform a study.
My small group is like my extended family. I am not from Savannah, so I do not have my family here as a support system. My small group is always there for me. That's the idea of the small group; it's what contributes to the success of Savannah Christian Church, and allows the church to fulfill it's mission statement of guiding people to a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Just don't take my word for it. Check the church out for yourself.

Savannah Christian Church is a Mega Church. You either get lost in the shuffle or trod forward trying as you live, learn, and grow through Christ. The leaders are judgmental hypocrites, and they don't even realize it.
I went through some very trying times and never received any support from the Church.
My griefs with SCC:
1. When I was a young High School student begging for some help and guidance, the Youth Group asked me not participate because of my sin.
2. I came back to SCC to worship with my parents while my husband was in Iraq and their Military Ministry was only a gossip group made only to make Officer wives and young wives feel ostracized. Oh that isn't completely true, they also pushed Pampered Chef on you.
3. I worked at their PreSchool Program, determined not to judge the Church by a few people. It was awful! Run by incompetents with no concern for their Teacher's welfare. I was bitten numerous times by a student. Then the leaders gossiped about me and said hurtful things about my past, my marriage, and the way I dressed (My husband bought me a Gucci bag for our anniversary, and though I never mentioned it to any of them, they continuously made comments about it.).
4. Their Church budget for 2008 was over 8 million dollars. Very few of those dollars went to local Charities. Wonder how much went into the pockets of their many pastors?
5. If you work for any part of the Church, no matter how remotely, you must sign a contract that is by Christian and America's law wrong.
-You cannot associate with Homosexuals. You cannot drink any alcohol.
-You cannot curse at all.
-You cannot see R rated movies.
-You cannot be with a member of the opposite gender not your family or spouse alone.
Any many, many more.
This is an awful Church that does not have Christ as it's center.

My wife and I attended SCC East until we were told I was not welcome because I am transgendered. SCC knew about me since Oct 28, 2007 when they gave a sermon on how they may lose members but they were opening their doors to the homosexual community. Things went fine until February 2009 when my wife and I asked if I could participate in women's bible study. The answer was more than just no, it was a total condemnation with discussion of child molesters and constant homophobic talk even when I told them I'm not homosexual. Each time I brought up the October 28, 2007 sermon I got absolutely no response. That is how they deal with hypocrisy, they act as if nothing was said. At SCC you are expected to accept what is preached and not to question anything. If you like a good fundamentalist church and want your kids taught to hate various groups, SCC is probably the place for you. I don't expect everyone to like my circumstances, but I was attending SCC to further my relationship with Jesus, what is so wrong with that?

My wife and I went to church there for years. We were founding members of the East Campus. Donated money, time, effort, and our hearts to what we believed was a good thing. My mother in law even started to attend with us. Unfortunately, my mother in law died and we informed several members and staff at the church. Not a word, card, flower, phone call, nothing came our way by means of support, which was a very trying time for our family. We stopped going to church there, and about 8 months later, ran into a member of the staff from the Main Campus. He asked us how everything was going at East Campus. We told him what happened, and he said that he had no idea what happened or that we had stopped going to church there. Funny thing is, to date, we have not received a single phone call, letter, or anything asking us where we have been, or how we are. All that effort put into dragging the equipment to and from the gym, in the scorching summer heat, the money we donated, the time we put in on many Journeys, and we were forgotten by our family in Christ. I hope God truly touches those that attend there.

I can't stand a church where the goal is see what percent of my income I can donate. I hate mega churces and lil' ol' Savannah is not used to big bully churches. I wish they'd fold up and go away.

I absolutly love Savannah Christian Church. Feeling like I was in the right place from the moment I pulled in the parking lot is amazing. There are programs for every thing imaginable. My children beg to go to church because of the fun they have learning about God. I have found my home.
Savannah Christian Church and School are not affiliated in any way.
PROS: Tons of programs for everyone, small groups, book store, child care,
CONS:
