The Center for Puppetry Arts is a very interesting place both for children and for adults alike. They have children's shows, and they also have some shows geared towards adults. I have taken my first grade students on a few field trips there, and they have always been a lot of fun. They puppeteers even show you how they put on the show when they are done. They also hold workshops for children. The prices tend to be a bit high, so be prepared!

don't know if there are other performing arts halls like this one elsewhere, but I've never seen one. Everyone should see at least one show here, it is wonderful. Best bets are fairy tales and well known stories.
They did the Jungle Book and it really blew my mind. They used the entire auditorium ceiling as the jungle canopy. Wizard of Oz, Charlotte's web were good also. There is so much attention to detail given and this is not an art you get to see very much of.
They also have a puppet museum as you are walking through to either see the show or leave. It's amazing to be able to get up close to some of these really intricate pieces of movable art.
Parking, like anywhere in Atlanta, isn't great. This is located in the midst of a few one way streets so have a care that you don't miss your turn or you'll go a bit out of your way.

The Center for Puppetry Arts consists of performances, a museum and classes. We recently saw The Little Rabbit and Other South American Tales by Akbar Imhotep of Atlanta and took a self-guided tour of the museum. The performance was delightful and we equally enjoyed the museum tour. With advance notice, you can request a guided tour and behind-the-scenes tours (which look very interesting) are also given. I look forwarding to taking one of the classes (for children, teens and adults), which look like they would be quite fun and educational. The Center also has an impressive, extensive library for filled with books on puppetry topics.

This has been a long standing tradition in our family because the Center for Puppetry Arts is such a wonderful experience. The goals of the programs are not only entertainment but education of the arts for their audience. Not only are there amazing family programs but educational puppetry programs, and grown-up programs too! The prices are great and we recommend it to everyone.

Not just for kids - the shows definately have humor geared for adults too. The show is a good length and my 1.5 and 3.5 year olds both sat through the show. Makin a puppet afterwards allowed us to bring home a souvenir puppet. A fun day!

I never imagined that I would visit the Center for Puppetry Arts until my husband's company held an after hours party there and we had the run of the center. It is really a neat place and somewhere that kids would really enjoy. They have an impressive puppet collection which is on display, as well as activities for kids. Puppet shows are a given, and they have a very nice, large theater that they also use for shows. The center is pretty modern, lots of windows let light into the main areas and it is a really nice atmosphere.
I'm not sure about admission, since we were there for a party, but it would definitely be somewhere to take the kids. Parking is available on location and it is conveniently located in midtown.
