I trust Dr. Smitherman and his staff for one thing because they have been around for so long. I've observed their love of animals for years. I've taken countless cats and dogs to him and always gotten the treatment and answers I desired.

I've seen their tireless efforts to please their customers and take care of their pets in the best fashion. It's only in recent years that they have had to start charging an office visit charge. Prior to that, they only charged you for what you bought or what tests they had to run. Like everyone, they have bills to pay, so they had to start charging, but they really seem to try to keep costs down.

They also only carry products that they themselves have tried with their own animals and are comfortable with. I recently asked them why they didn't carry a specific flea treatment and they told me frankly that they didn't feel it was effective and couldn't in good conscience recommend it. I think that says it all. They really do care about their patients and do what's best even if that means losing some money from sales of ineffective products.

I also like the fact that if I have an emergency or just an ordinary concern, I can walk in their door with no appointment. It's first-come first-serve (except for non-emergency surgeries which are scheduled at your convenience.) I cannot really say one bad thing about this place. They are like family, and the community depends on them.

PROS: Reasonably priced, Really cares about pets, the best treatments
CONS: Their parking is a little crowded at times because so many people go there
