My dog died while he was boarded there , only two days. The dog seemed very healthy when we brought him but he never made it home.
The dog was 11 years old but I found it very strange that 2 days later he was dead.

I met Dr. Holland after my dog ate a 2oz bottle of gorilla glue. Dr. Holland and her staff were able to surgically remove the mass from her stomach. My dog recovered well and the whole thing cost me about half of what the emergency vet wanted to charge.
Since that day in 2003 I have been using her as my vet for my two cats and two dogs with NO complaints.
She is to the point, has a great interaction with each of my pets, and doesn't up-sell or try to get me into gimmicky meds/treatments/procedures.
Her staff does turn over quite a bit, but they are friendly and competent. Her building could use an extreme makeover, but then again we're not being gouged on price to pay for pretty facilities - we're paying reasonably for high quality care.

People who are complaining must not have seen Dr. Holland. She is fantastic. My dog loves her and most of her staff. The biggest drawback I have there is that the staff keeps changing. I don't think that selling is what the counter staff does, they seem to be reminding me that Frontline and Heartguard are important and available there. She has done 2 surgeries on my dog, and she has recovered fully from both. Dr. Holland is very open to my limitations as a parent and has even given me her home number for questions that could arise after hours.
I have been using her since she took over from Dr. Harrison which was back in the 1990's.

I trusted Fair Oaks to provide care to my Kitten (Brody) without any predjudice. We recieved just that predjudice, I showed up for my appt. 30 mins early and left 30 mins after. We were shunned by the bigot at the front desk.

Dr. Holland has been our German Shepherd's vet since she was a puppy. The building is older and I know thee has been some staff changes but the most important thing is that Dr. Holland treats my dog like she was her own pet. She is clam and great with all my animals and really cares for each of my pets. Her advice is always good even if it is not what you want to hear. I am shocked about these other reviews but I recommended Dr. Holland all the time, she has been wonderful for the past 5 years!

I too like many folks around here I have been giving this vet a lot of business in the past but NO MORE!I have had appointments scheduled many times only to sit in their depressing waiting rooms for more than 3 hours. No one came in to check on us until I went to the desk and complained. Treated even ruder when Ms. Holland came in to see us she was upset because I was upset and was rude, rude, rude to me. If I can't enjoy the experience of taking my pets to the vet then I know my animals don't get a good vibe when they are there either. Ms. Holland should go into the collections business where I'm sure she would excel!
Additionally, money, money, money is all they seem to really care about there. Everyone has a well rehersed sale pitch and is really disgusting.
I go out of my way to tell everyone I know that has pets NEVER to go there.

We have used the Fair Oaks Veterinary Clinic since 1980. The former owners, Dr. Harrison, and his staff were great. They were clean and very professional. The new owners have presented challenges, particularly in the customer relations category.
Boarding has been especially challenging in the last few years. This summer, I boarded our dog for a week and had them give him his annual checkup and shots. The day before I took him in, he was bathed and groomed. He looked so good that before we left him, I took some closeup pictures of him.
When we picked him up he was a mess. The vet said he was a mess when we brought him in, which I knew wasn't true. She implied that I was not a good pet owner and was very rude during our entire conversation. I said nothing in response but when I got home I went shopping for a new vet after 28 years. The present owners are very pushy with selling additional products and services every time we take our dog there and, in my opinion, it seems that loading pet owners up with guilt is a way for them to get more money. The pills they billed me for on this visit were twice the price that the local pharmacies were charging. It is always a stressful time when we go to pick up our pet and it was never that way with the former owners. They were polite, professional and I would leave there with my dog looking good and my patience intact.

I purchased an 8 week old kitten and have taken her to this vet several times over the last 4 months for shots and to be spayed. The staff there is very nice although Dr. Holland is kind of abrasive and not very friendly. However, you can tell that she and her staff love animals. When my kitten was there overnight for her spay surgery the office let me know that I could call as many times that I would like to check on her. My experience has been good overall...although I do wish that Dr. Holland were as nice to people as she is to the pets...

I have been taking my animals there (all of them) for years. But now am looking for someone else. I too like most of the other people felt they cared more about SELLING me extras then taking did caring for my pets needs. I felt like I had just been to a car dealership and a sales person had just gotten done with me. I will not return.

Im a bit shocked reading these other reviews.
In Sept 07, I had to put my 16 yr old Yorkie down. I had called my usual vet who made me feel horrible about the already hard decision. My aunt suggested calling her vet, Dr. Holland at Fair Oaks. They took him in without asking any questions and made me feel as comfortable as possible.
In Oct of 07, I was miserable without a pet and adopted two free dogs. When it came time to get them spayed that Dec, I went back to Dr. Holland at Fair Oaks. Prior to bringing my dogs in, I explained that they had been strays and I had only had them for about two months. I also explained that all their behavior pointed to them having been abused prior to becoming mine.
The staff members were great working with my two scared to death lab mixes. After individual work ups and happy shots, they were off for surgery. Dr. Holland made me feel very comfortable leaving my babies with them.
In Jan 08, one of my dogs was having problems that later turned out to be food allergies but I was in and out of the vets office every two weeks for a month and a half. The staff members understood when I brought both dogs in even though only one had a problem/appointment (they have sever separation anxiety from each other).
When I arrived for our first appointment in Jan, it was the first time the dogs had been back there since surgery and they eagerly went inside I usually have to drag them places.
The things I like about this office is that the staff are always friendly and know me and my dogs by name (that could just be from seeing us so much). I like that their products (flee and heartworm) are less than or comparable to local stores and domestic internet sales. I hate having to shell out a small fortune for my dogs special food but that is a small sacrifice and her food is less through them than other places Ive looked.
My only complaint, which is quite minor, is that when I scheduled their spay appointment, I specifically asked if they had to be kept over night. I was told no, they could go home that evening. I didnt find out they would be staying until they were already taken back into the holding area. Like I said, a very minor problem and it was better for the dogs anyway.
My dogs love to go to the vet and that makes me comfortable and happy.

Our dog became very sick while we boarded the dog there.
The dog was only there for two days and when we came to pick him up we were told by Dr. Holland that she recommended we put the dog to sleep. Terrible experience, I would never go back.
We ended up having to put the dog down.

We started taking our dog to Dr.Holland a couple of years ago. We initially went for her surgery that our original vet didnt perform at the time. In between time our vet closed and she was the next office that was familiar with Diamond. Dr. Holland is an expert in upselling products and recommended test but really never diagnosed Diamond. She blurts out statements in front of whomever "THEY HAVE NO MONEY!!!!" They're not going to purchase the Heartguard!!! What about the Advantix??!! We went to her twice in one month and she even took blood. Never a diagnosis or a kind or sensitive word. We felt as if we were bothering her. Today we took Diamond to another vet and he took one look at her and diagnosed her with LIVER FAILURE. He advised us that she was suffering and today she was put to rest. I hate that I ever took her to that UNPROFESSIONAL, INSENSITIVE doctor. She is a discace to other vets.

We recently just saved our dogs from neglecting owners. In the second week of having him, we took him to Fair Oaks to get a check up and his shots, so he could eventually be groomed. When Dr. Holland walked in she made rude comments about the condition of our dog, even though she was just told that we basically rescued him. The way she treated us was very unpleasant and rude. Whenever we asked her any questions, she would give us sassy remarks, not even answering the question asked. The rest of her staff was nice. The groomer, was very friendly as well, which was why we went back to Fair Oaks for the grooming. When we got our dog back he was not the same. He walked sideways and hid under the bed for 2 days. We took him to another vet to see what was wrong with him and the vet pointed out that he had cuts everywhere on his body including around his eyes. We ended up paying $200 to fix the problems that THEY caused for a $50 grooming. I will NEVER go back to Fair Oaks again.

Dr. Holland was extremely rude when I visited. She was very pushy with selling products. Although her assistant advised her that there was no evidence of fleas on my pet (while in front of me) , she still left the room and returned with a can of flea treatment for to purchase any way! Although I advised her that I rescued my new pet just two weeks prior, she practically accused ME of not feeding him. I reminded her that the pet had actually grown over the past few weeks, which I advised her of when I walked in. While leaving we ran into a couple who advised us that Dr. Holland nearly killed their pet by trying to a perfom a surgery in which she was obviously not capable of performing.

Dr. Holland is fabulous! She's great to her patients and their owners. Plus, the clinic doesn't try to charge you an arm and a leg for veterinary services. My dogs love her and she really cares about each and every animal that comes through her door.
