After our most recent experience with Douglas Oaks, I just had to speak from my heart. Dr. Mike, as well as everyone there: the office workers, the vet techs and the VERY capable vets, just exceed our expectations every time we go there. Our most recent "emergency" happened to our 11 week old puppy. He ate something he shouldn't, and Dr. Mike said we really needed to take it out. That afternoon, the foreign item was taken out, and our little guy was back home eating and, uh, pooping, as if nothing ever happened. Thanks so much Mike, Jane, Courtney, and all the gang at Douglas Oaks. You've saved us again!

I just want to thank Dr. Mike and his staff for the love and care they showed toward our golden lab over the Christmas holiday. Our dog who is about 85 lbs. was in the kennel and upon routine check, Dr. Mike noticed something was wrong. It ended up our dog needed emergency surgery on 12/24 @ 9 pm. Dr. Mike drove our dog during the snow storm to the emergency hospital and kept in touch with us as we were 700 miles away on Christmas vacation. He updated us every step of the way. Dr. Mike even took our dog home for a night of recovery. Our dog was well taken care of by Dr. Mike and his staff. They saved our dog's life. Thanks Douglas Oaks for being the "BEST VET CLINIC IN DOUGLASVILLE."

I was new to the area and have two chihuahua's. I was a patient of Banfield when one of my kids got really sick...she was old and had a lot of medical issues, and Banfield and I decided to only keep her comfortable. When the time came, I contacted Banfield to see what it would cost to end her suffering...they told me around 200 dollars....I called around to other vets and couldn't find anyone priced under $100 until I contacted Douglas Oaks. Their charge was only $45. We we arrived the office personel was sooooo compassionate. The Doctor was more understanding than I could have ever asked for...they helped make her last moments comfortable...and they made us a little marker with her footprint on it and her name....it was something that I will never forget...they didn't know us from Adam but we were treated like family....I love this vet and now take my other pets to them...With them this is not just a business, but it's about family...they treat your animals as your kids (which is exactly how we feel). If you want a vet that is compassionate and understanding...look no farther, you have found them....I would not go anywhere else now...

They did a great job boarding my dog, she seemed to be more at ease on her stay at the vets office. Staff is nice and did a good job with her. Will definately bring her back again. I haven't had an encounter with the vet yet, but I have heard he is excellent. The techs are nice and did a great job. Very quick service, not much of a waiting time.
Will definately come back again.

Nice Vet, horrible office staff and lots of problems with billings. I've decided to move to another vet office after the continual problems with Dr. Gallagher's staff. Even though he is good, too many issues with the staff make the visits and discussions with the staff unbearable. Think of hiring different people, and getting them trained properly on new equipment, and I might think of coming back. I'm really wishing Dr. Morgan was still here

My Min Pin had an allergic reaction to something this week. She had severe facial swelling and hives. Since it was so early in the morning I figured I wouldn't be able to get in touch with anyone until around 9:00 that morning. I decided to call anyways and try and leave a message to be called back. To my surprise I was able to get in touch with the Doctor directly and was given instructions on how to treat her myself. Then once her symtoms worsened later that afternoon they worked her into their busy office schedule so she could be seen before the end of the day. Everyone at the office is amazing and very caring. They even did a follow up call to check on her the next day. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I'm so glad to know that my little baby is in such good hands at Douglas Oaks!

After watching my beloved Molly go downhill the last couple of weeks, I finally decided to have her put to sleep on Thursday the 15th. Douglas Oaks had cared for Molly the entire 14 years we had her and were always professional and caring. I know Dr. Morgan has retired now, but the new group there was just as caring this morning when this big ol' baby said goodbye !
I would not hesitate to recommend Douglas Oaks to anyone.
Thank you M. McCrary

I've taken my pets to Douglas Oaks, since January 1980. The service and care were great under Dr Morgan and are just as great with Dr. G. I've taken my dog to Dr G twice. He is just as knowledgeable and friendly as Dr Morgan.
Granted the fees have gone up, but that is only normal. Everything is more expensive these day. It's just a fact of life. While the fees have gone up, if someone did a survey of the other area Vets, procedure by procedure, I bet Douglas Oaks' fees would be about the same or lower.
I hope Dr G is here for the long run.

Dr.Morgan was great... we've now been blessed with a new enthusiastic team of sensitive, caring, brilliant, compassionate vets along with hard working staff. Dr. Gallagher & Dr. Jones have booth worked with my furry family members. I cannot say enough good things about both of them. They take their time. They call back to personally speak to me, making sure I understand the health of my cat and dog. They take my little buddies very seriously. Cannot ask for more. Plus their prices are very fair. They help make any charges clear before & after their work. MS

I take my 2 dogs to Douglas Oaks, these guys are great. Honestly, this whole area has questionable vet care and this place really makes me feel secure. They are thorough and friendly (the receptionists could be a bit friendlier) and I will always take my animals here!

Had this practice taking excellent care of my 2 dobies since they were puppies. 4 years ago and every time we get great service from the team at Douglas Oaks! I drive out to see them from metro Atlanta because they are worth the trip and always offer a quick prognosis and don't 'guess' as much as other vets we've used in the past.

Dr. Ed Morgan and Dr. Justin Verner are both great vets. I tend to have Dr. Verner most of the time and I love his patience and caring understanding of my pets' needs. I have a 15 and a half year old miniature poodle, who now has heart problems, a 7 year old toy poodle, who has had a couple of seizures, and a recent addition of another shorter mini, now 6 months old. They are great with all of them. The medications work for them and they are healthy, happy and vibrant loving doll babies. They also see birds, snakes and other non-dog/cat pets. I would recommend them to anyone.

I recently moved to this area and chose this Vet (referred by a neighbor). It was the best choice I could have made. I am so pleased with the caring service that my "baby" received. My little one tends to be frisky and she was handled with respect and care. This is definately her Vet for good!!
PROS: Exceptional office staff & wonderfully caring Vet.

Dr. Morgan and his hospital staff have cared for my pets for many years now and they have always been helpful and caring in the health treatment of these important family members. This past Christmas we had a health crisis for our 13 year old black lab and they pulled her through this rough time with excellent health care and compassion. I appreciate their help in this and in so many other instances over the last 15 or more years.

THANK YOU for your time & reviews! Please click & read ALL reviews around the web for the most current experiences. Douglas Oaks Animal Hospital has had more 5 star reviews than any other. Since new ownership October 2008, they had many 5 star reviews & one 4 star. They care about patients, clients & their team! They constantly strive to improve & provide for everyone's needs. FYI, Citysearch has only Citysearch's reviews on it's landing page. Tired of the old review & time for the current! Their most recent review, was before new ownership & their comments do not show up without clicking on them. I don't know another way to let everyone know. Happy tails to you! THANK YOU!
Pros: High Quality Care, Compassion, Affordable

If you love and care about your pets as I do, you need to check out the Douglas Oaks Animal Hospital. I'm very dissapointed with Dr. Morgan and his office staff wife, Judy Morgan. I almost lost my cat due to total neglance and lack of concern from this animal clinic. I took a male cat in at 10:30 AM Friday morning crying out in pain as he couldn't urinate. This should have been treated as an emergency as it's considered life threatning. This I did not know at the time. I had already taken my cat to Morgan a few weeks prior with the same problem, not just as severe. He would not order test or x-rays but sent him home on antoboties saying he sounded a little raspy. He went on to say he may have a constipation problem blocking his bladder a little, but he'd be ok, just give him some cat lax. The problem was he had KIDNEY stones. He obiviousley manage to pass it however, there were many more. The new vet after doing an ultra sound and other test said his bladder was swollen and had so many stones it looked like a snow globe. To make a long story short, I ended up having to pick up my pet from Morgan's office and take him to the vet emergency clinic to have a cath put in to drain his bladder. Come to find out this clinic on Thornton Road was afficilated with this bunch and provided a poor level of care as well. This is another story. I did manage to find a reputable vet and emergency clinic. Dr Morgan let this poor suffering cat lay up there in a cage all day as he saw other patients. When I called and finally got to speak with him, he said he would probably have to wait till he got off work to do the cath. Can you believe this statement? I think this is a disgrace. I plan to make it my top priority to try and make certain people are aware of this type of care so maybe no other sweet little innocent cat will have this kind of in humane treatment from someone of this character, or maybe I should say his lack of charcter.

I have met both Dr Verner and Dr Morgan. My cat hates other vets but did good with Dr Morgan. Dr Verner has done alot for our dog. I would highly recommend them. They have a great understanding manner and are very good with the animals. You will feel comfortable with them no matter the situation.
Pros: Polite, Knowledgable, Kind, Caring, animals take to them
Cons: none
