My wife and I were shopping for a small tow-able camper and saw a one year old used unit at PECO. We were just looking at that point and continued to look at other dealers. We found another one year old used unit at another dealer, same brand, identical to the unit at PECO, but the dealership was considerably closer to our home. The price quoted for this unit was $2000 more than the unit at PECO but we told them about the PECO unit and price and they reluctantly agreed to match the price. We also haggled about the extras - hitches, sway bar, and wiring for our vehicle. They finally agreed to match the terms offered by PECO. After about three hours of negotiations, the final purchase agreement was prepared and they had added a $605 "Dealer Fee" to the total. I disputed the fee since it had never been mentioned. They refused to negotiate on that fee. I refused the agreement and told them I was going back to PECO. This dealership is a national company and over their reception desk they had a picture of the CEO of the company and an email address to notify him of any customer concerns. I sent him an email the next day, and to his credit he responded within an hour stating that it did not sound as though I had been treated fairly and that I would be hearing from someone. Also to their credit, the Sales Manager form the dealership called me shortly after and offered to remove the dealer fee. I told them I was going to do business with PECO.

This was certainly a good decision in the end. The purchase transaction was quick and easy with PECO and no surprise fees. A $35 title fee was the only fee and they had told me that up front. We scheduled a pick up time and their service department did all the prep work on our vehicle as promised and oriented us on all the camper details.

What really speaks to the quality of this company is next. We took our camper out the next weekend for a short 70 mile trip to the mountains and a two night stay. On the first night the furnace worked fine for about three hours and then stopped working. We had taken a space heater so we were not left in the cold. When we hooked up to leave something in the wiring went afoul and we blew a fuse in our vehicle. It turned out that the camper lights worked, just our vehicle lights were wacky. We were able to get home without incident. I called PECO Monday morning and they were very eager to get things resolved and had me bring the unit in that same day. When I got there, all their service bays were full but they called their lead wiring man into the office and he went over everything that happened. He went with me to my vehicle in the parking lot and took it to the back. I was there for just a little over an hour and was looking at some accessories in the retail area. The salesman who sold me the vehicle spent some time with me and ended up giving me over $50 worth of accessories as compensation for the time I was spending there. WOW.

The service department fixed all of the issues, including my vehicle issues, and including the furnace issue, all at no charge. Since the unit was used, the furnace was not warranted and I expected to pay for that repair, but they covered the costs for everything, including a wiring modification to eliminate a possible fuse issue in the future.

I have become accustomed to customer "no service" over the years, but this company proved that customer SERVICE still exists. The best part is that it was not a "forced" service atmosphere, you could tell that this kind of service comes naturally to these people.

This a short story about customer service. I really do not know a lot about Peco Campers as an organization but I do know them for how they treat customers. Here are a few of my experiences.

#1
My history with Peco began after I moved to Atlanta and I purchased a small Coleman popup from them. I really do not know the exact date but I may have in the late 80s or early 90s. They were still located in downtown Tucker and I assume I was dealing with one of the owners when I purchased the camper. In 1994 I had to have the wheel bearing greased and had Peco perform the service. I had just lost my job and decided to go on a hunting trip to Talbot County GA. When I arrived at the campsite the wheel bearing on the axle had burned out and the axle was about to slide out of the axle housing. I found a local shop that patched it back together and I think the cost was about $350. When I got home I called Peco and was told the work was done by a contractor and they failed to repack the bearing. I expected to be reimbursed the $350 dollars but the person that I was dealing with said that not only would they reimburse me for the $350 but they would order an entire new axle assemble and replace it free of charge.

#2
Needless to say I was impressed with that experience so when my daughter wanted to buy a popup for her family I told her to consider Peco. Her and her husband bought a large Coleman popup probably around 2004. They were camping on a July 4th weekend at Stone Mountain and the cable system failed in the popup. They called Peco, took the camper to the shop and they were back camping that same evening.

Well now it is the end of 2009 and my memory is a little better on this experience. My daughter??s family and my wife and I were each interested in buying a light weight travel trailer.
Peco did not let me down. During the purchasing process the sales staff consistently helped me and my daughter make the right choices for options that would benefit me, the customer. They could have easily added on more volume in the transaction but they looked out for our interests. Oh yeah and when I picked up my camper it was a cold day and I had to wait for an extra hour. They gave me a free accessory for my camper for the delay.

These are examples of great customer service. You know when you think that something will go wrong in a service call or purchase the Peco staff is out in front of the process and are on top of their game. I realize it cannot happen this way every time but these guys must be in the 99th percentile. Exceeding a customer??s expectations is the key to their success.

I have been doing business with Peco campers for over 30 years. Sometimes I see reviews about one person or another bad mouthing this company and I know that they are just plain wrong.\nThey offer their products in an honest an easy manner to deal with. They are the type of folks you want to do business with because they treat you as good as you could expect. Once you buy a camper from someone you want to be able to trust them with quality service and a willingness for them to help you get camping. No camper is perfect. If you buy one and expect that your more than likely going to be upset at some point with your camper because they have problems just like every other thing to come in contact with. You have to remember...your dragging a house down the road. You have to spend some time taking care of it like anything else you own. \nIn the past I have taken my camper over to Peco and was just taking it in to have a problem fixed. Even though I wanted to go camping and they asked me when I was going camping and I said after you fix a small problem. They got it fixed in an hour. Don't expect them to do that every time you go see them but thats just the type of folks they are. I have learned over time that they are busy and I can't just stop by and have a problem fixed on the spot. I don't expect them to do that ...but they have. I go now in advance and give them plenty of time to get my work scheduled which is fair. When they do their work and you pick up your camper you get the parts that they replaced back. No funny business here. They are honest. They don't do things for free and I don't expect then to but I do appreciate quality work and honesty. That is what you will get with these folks. You might always be able to look all over the nation to find a cheaper price but besides your camper being the neatest thing in the world ...the next neatest it to have someone you can trust to keep you camping...and these folks do exactly that. They are not real pushy over there so it might help if you aren't either. Folks tend to get along better when both parties are respectful to each other and everyone over at Peco has always been that way to me. Go give them a try. They are great folks.

I have often been underwhelmed by service people, because I expect professionalism and truth telling as the benchmark. If that is all I got at PECO campers I would not be writing this review. Our camper was damaged in the tornado's that went through Cherokee County. I was not aware of this until 5 days before we were to leave on vacation. Aaron in service told me point blank that it would take six weeks to get the parts he needed, but that he understood the challenge and importance and asked for a day to work out an alternative. Amazingly - Aaron got our camper fixed in time. I live over an hour from PECO, but I chose to buy there. I will have service work done there and I will buy my upgrades there. Even my insurance agent took the time to call me and say how great PECO was to work with. I cannot imagine a circumstance where a level headed ""real"" conversation without threats and intimidation could result in anything less than stellar service here. Highly, Highly recommended.

I received rude , unprofessional, angry verbal assaults from the asst service manager. As the son-in-law of the owner he felt beyond giving any customer service, respect or even decent human interaction. Do not get service here ever!! My RV problem was never addressed by him and he lied to me the day before on the phone. When I complained at the front office I was told in certain words that he was untouchable and then others apologized for him. I was then dismissed. Pecos Campers does not care about its customers!!
