I love this authentic pub that is off the beaten path of River and Bay Streets. It's a combination of tourists and local regulars plus very sweet bartenders (Laurie, Sean et al). You can sit outside and watch the world go by or enjoy some Shepherds pie or French onion soup while watching sports at the bar. Check out the incredible toby jug collection.

Pros: Great beer selection, good prices

Cons: Food is alright for pub food

We enjoy going to the Six Pence every time we travel to Savannah. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgable about all sorts of drinks. The food is tasty and the price is just right!

The location on Bull St. is in the heart of everything in Savannah. The atmosphere is "Brittish Pub", and the selection of drinks is, too. You may drink and dine on the sidewalk outside as well, where you will interact with passersby.

There are fewl "authentic" Brit dishes, but mostly the food is just plain great! The pot roast, the Shepherd's Pie, the onion soup, and the deli-type sandwiches are very reasonably priced. If you ask for a Pimm's Cup or a Shandy, they don't just stare back in puzzlement...they make the drink.

There are plenty of "regulars" and "tourist regulars" that make "The Pence" a place of great friends.

I've never had a meal here but only had a few drinks at the outdoor tables (I go quite often however)... but the atmosphere is very laid-back and comfortable. The waiting staff is very friendly too. It's a great location--for those that don't like the "club scene" or unsafe areas of Savannah!

This is a fun little english pub. Great traditional food and a wide selection of beer. Inside seating is limited but there is outside seating as well. The bicyle cabbies park outside here all the time so its fun to eat here and then take one down to Bay, River St or City Market. This is also where they shot the scene in Something To Talk About, when Julia Roberts catches Dennis Quaid having diner with another woman.

Cons: nothing to note

This place is one of my favorites in Savannah! I would definitely recommend sitting outside if its warm enough! There French onion soup and Brie plate is the best....and they have a great beer and wine selection. I have been there a million times and have never had bad service! Prices are pretty good!

I have not eaten here, but only been for drinks. One of the haunted pub tours in Savannah starts out here (THE ONLY haunted pub tour, as far as I'm concerned...you have a great tour guide from Boston, he's lots of fun!). It is very neat looking inside and out, and it's supposed to be haunted! So cool! You can sit inside, or at one of the several wrought iron tables outside on the sidewalk and people-watch. It's very casual and local-like. It can be hard to find, but it's worth looking!

PROS: great atmosphere, outside seating, it's haunted
CONS: it's haunted (can be a con, depending on how you feel about it!)

Message from Six Pence Pub

First opened more than sixteen years ago in Savannah, Georgia, the Six Pence Pub has grown to become the first choice for great food, and drink in a cozy, congenial, conversation friendly atmosphere. We are proud to say we're the most authentic English pub in Georgia! In 2001, Six Pence opened a second location in Blowing Rock, NC, and in 2006 a third in Fort Mill, SC; both with the same authenticity and friendly service.

We offer a full menu throughout the day, and into the late night. If you're looking for a fun, welcoming place to relax with friends over a pint, or some traditional American, and British food, come join us at the Six Pence Pub!
