I am appalled at the reviews written below. I had nothing but exceptional service while a parent of a child that attended Tara Christian Academy. If you are looking for a professional, service oriented environment, then you are in the right place. Mrs. Douglas does not accept the status quo. She does not accept her employees acting "ghetto and hood". She only wants and expects the best of her staff. Afterall, they are setting an example for the children. The curriculum is exceptional! After my son graduated from Tara, he was tested in the public school system and the teachers stated that they noticed the students that attended Tara were well above the required standards of GA. Now, if this does not speak volumes, I don't know what will. Moreover, the Center is always clean. Lastly, Mrs. Douglas is an excellent Director and she founded the Center to make a difference in South Dekalb County.

My son went to this daycare about 5 yrs ago and everything was great! He learned so much so i decided to take my infant as well. I always spoke highly of this daycare until my 4 mo old son attended tara academy. I believe that everything that is said on this website is true. The infant room is way to small, it stinks and my baby smelled like poop. The staff is not informative. They will not tell you whats going on with your child but will talk amongst themselves about your child. The documents you sign states they wont give your child anything unless you tell them but its false. They put cereal in my sons milk and didnt tell me. I dont even but cereal in my sons milk. The only reason i found out is because they forgot to throw out the old milk and i saw it with my own eyes. I brought it to mgmts attention and they had knowledge of it. The asst. Director asked me what do i want them to do because my son is still hungry. Funny how they make parental decisions for me?! It should have been my choice!! I took my son out immediately. I spoke with the director and she is way to arrogant. She told me that, "i will be back" like my concerns were not important. I will never come back.

I would like to make it known this daycare is not the best and there are other daycare with great curriculums and a proficient staff.

PEOPLE DONT BE FOOLED! You cannot trust them with your child. They will do what they want to do and you wont have no idea.

Tara Christian Academy is a joke. I have never been to or worked at a christian academy where the director/owner wants their employees to lie. YES I said lie. Ms. Douglass knows nothing about teaching, running, and controlling a classroom. Her methods are not only un-christian like but they are also wrong according to Bright from the Start. Ms. Douglass handed out self evaluation forms to her staff and when they were completed and turned back in, Ms. Douglass and Cindy(the lady at the front desk) hand delivered the forms back to all the employees and literally asked them tho "dumb it down". The employees were told that they couldnt possibly have that much knowledge about the material that was asked. The employees were also told that the center would not receive money from the state unless the "self evaluation" forms were not filled out correctly. There are actually some very good teachers that are employed at Tara Academy. Ms. Keisha is great with the children and the children take to her very well. I cant remember the teachers name in the baby room but she is also very great, but it stops there. The center is a mess and needs new management. I have seen ants and spiders in the Toddler A classroom and when the management was told about it on numerous occassions they did absolutely nothing about it. The school hides behind the NAEYC sign they have posted in the parking lot but i honestly dont believe they are even accredited. Ms. Douglass is rude and does not believe in her staff, all she cares about is getting money from the state. If Bright form the Start is reading this, you should send someone in there undercover as a teacher or even an interm and I promise you, you will see that all of these reviews are very truthful. The best thing that could ever happen for Tara Academy is for Ms. Douglass to step down and let her daughter, Ms. Renee run the center. Ms. Renee is more calm and speaks to the staff and parents alot better than her mother does and if Ms. Renee was in charge of everything the center will be completely different and there will be teachers up there that actually want to stay.

I am an employee at Tara Academy and I have experienced a lot of wrong doing since I have been employed here. I have recently heard that Ms. Douglas terminated a teacher that had just started not too long ago. People are saying that she was terminated because of a post on the internet about the center and then she took it off. My belief is that this particular teacher was set up or framed to be terminated because it would be out of the ordinary to put your name on a blog!! I really liked this teacher and she was always cordial. One morning as she went in, I overheard all of the children yelling good morning to her as though they were very happy to see her. I went on the internet to see the post, but I did not see the teacher name on any post. Today, any and everyone has access to computers and the internet. This could have been done by anyone, because I don't think that this teacher would do something like this. I have observed this teacher on many occasions and she seemed to have structure in the classroom. Before she started, the children in that room were somewhat out of control. The teacher that is in there for the school year, in my opinion is not a very good teacher, that is the one they should have let go. Everytime I would pass the room, she would be sitting or texting on her phone and the children would be all over the room. I really think that there is some underhanded things going on at the center that Ms. Douglas doesn't know about. I have been employed here for a while and I have observed some bad things happening, but at the same time if you don't want to lose your job then you say nothing, in which it is hard to hold something in especially if you think it is wrong!!

Tara Academy is a hoax!! Please don't apply for work here or put your child here. Mrs.Douglas is so rude and mean to employees. She talks to them like they are beneath her and like they are children. She is not hurting for money, she drives a cadillac escalade and a brand new jaguar!! What a heathen!! Then you have Cindy who is so rude and does not have manners, she doesn't speak to you when you enter the building. She is another one who is something else. I really hope that bright from the start is reading this!! They need to know what is really going on there. There was no AC for 3 days in the front of the building, but douglas driving that jaguar. Poor management and poor ownership!! Retire douglas and let someone else run it with more respect and dignity for employees.

The teachers are great and the center is always clean it the nices center in the area. mrs.douglas is very nice it the front staff i dont care for you have to make them speak when u walk in the school.I feel every parent should be spoken to no matter what u think about them or how bad your day have been.But i love the teachers they had a great one name ms.monica in the baby room she very good and she love them babys i was sad to see her go.but over all it a good school just front staff no thanks.

If anyone sees this, know that Mrs. Mann is telling the truth. I don't know if your still an employee at Tara Christian Academy, but things have changed!!! I know the employees who are currently working at the center, I am one of them. Ms. Douglas yells repeatedly at her teachers in front of parents, Bright from the Start has been at the school more than they are required because of incidents. Teachers have been investigated for hitting children, let the children run out of the front door, classes are over ratio for 2 teachers. Mrs. Mann's son was in a class with 19 other children when there should only be 16 in total with 2 teachers. There is a very high turnover rate for teachers. Not because Douglass is picky, but because she fires people for any reason, even when she is in the wrong. Children have left the center because of the constant disregard for the parents. As an employee we were told that any issues with a child was to be left for the front desk to handle. This is totally outrageous. The front desk isn't in the classroom with these children all day. They are simply at the front desk.The teachers are suppossed to have a trusting relationship with the parents in order to communicate efficiently and reassure the parent's child are safe and will be well taken care of. Douglas reasons for keeping issues at the front desk because she constantly thinks someone is turning the parents against her, wanting to know if someone has called Bright from the Start on her, and also wanting to know your (the parent's) business. She comes off as she cares, but she only wants your money honestly. I don't honestly think that Douglas has ever been a childcare teacher, especially in the last three years. She micro-manages what she thinks how the classrooms should be ran, but as a teacher we are contracted to 12 hours of classes a year, which she does not attend. She takes classes on how to manage a child care facility and how to keep money coming in. We learn things on bringing out a child's creativity, safety, the communication triangle (child, parent, teacher), etc. On the other side , Douglas only favors parents who have "money" or important business relationships with people with money. Every one else is "chopped liver". I can blog all day about the inner workings of the center, but know this, she does not uplift her employees. You rarely hear "job well done" or "that was creative". Instead employees have been threatened to be terminated if they testified against Douglas and the center. She has unfairly fired people because of her dislike and low opinion of them. She claims to be a Christian, but listen to gossip and is rude and disrespectful. She thinks that everyone who works in the front of the center is against her and only work to collect a paycheck. She favors only the teachers who work in the back.What she doesn't realize is that people work to provide for their families. What parents don't realize how stressful the job is and that the teachers are on average get paid less than $8/ hr. If it wasn't for minimun wage going up some teachers would still be getting paid $7/hr. Who can support themselves and their families on that, really? oN the other hand,Renee is more positive than her mother. In my opinion she should be the owner/ director she treats people with more dignity and respect. Douglas should just retire, everyone knows she has the money. By the way for the parents who have chosen Tara Christian Academy for NAEYC accreditation it is rumored that they no longer receive it and they never go by NAEYC standards only when NAEYC is there to check up on the center. Find somewhere else to go, it may be more expensive but I promise it will be worth it.

I am appalled at the post complaining about Tara Academy. I have been a parent as well as an employee since the center opened in 2000. My 13 year old started there and attended the afterschool program and my 6 year old started there as soon as she was 6 weeks old and is now in the afterschool program.
As a parent, I can say that my children were 1) well cared for 2) taught above and beyond the standards of the Georgia school system. My six year old is one of the top in her kindergarten class, not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. As a working parent, I can attribute the care and learning she received while at Tara Academy to her success as well as being a dedicated parent. Also, as a parent, I know it is my responsibility to make sure that my child is getting what she needs in every setting that I put her in. As a parent I am responsible for her strengths and weaknesses so if someone is telling me that there is a developmental problem with my child, I need to have it checked out.
As an employee of the center since it opened, I can assure anyone that the owner and director strives to have the highest quality teachers, materials and equipment available for all the children while keeping costs completely affordable and will even work with parents if they are going through financial difficulties. When an issue comes up with a child it is addressed with the parents, it is the parent??s responsibility to follow-up and have their child checked out. The center is not listed as a special needs facility, while the staff members do their best to work with special needs they are not specialized in this area. Parents with special needs children are informed of this fact up front or when concerns arise and are given other options that may better help their child. Also, being an employee of the center, I have seen the care that the children receive, my own child has been in attendance for six years, that is a testimony to the facility in and of itself.
If you felt that your child was not being well cared for?. why would you continue to leave your child in that environment???? Some parents do!

I would say if Tara does not want real reviews published; do not ask for people??s opinion of their experience. I thought this was a helpful tool to help the school better it??s techniques at being a childcare facility.
