Doug's Place

The first time my husband (boyfriend at them time) brought me to Doug's I was nervous to go in. I am very picky and wasn't sure anything would be any good. Once I took that first bite there was no going back. I am now pregnant and have been craving Doug's fried chicken for about a week and a half. The fried green tomatos are awesome, sweet tea is about perfect, and the mac n cheese is so good too. Definately go try Doug's Place.

Doug's Place is the perfect place for an old fashioned breakfast,lunch ,or dinner. There is nothing fancy here , but the food is good. Often times there will be quite a crowd. Doug's is off the beaten path , but it is worth a try.

Family in town from North!? Then you have to take them here! It doesn't get any more down home than this. They put PITCHERS of sweet tea on the table! Everything is like your southern grandma makes. Something everyone must experience! And no place would be complete without stray dogs outside - they love leftovers...

Great Southern restaurant with good country cooking! Good proportions and great prices. Often very crowded with a wait line. Well worth the wait though!

Good country cooking at a reasonable price. Fried chicken livers crisp and tasty. Service always friendly and prompt. A little out of the way but fun listening to the trains go by.

Our Corvette club showed up on Saturday morning. The parking lot was jammed. We managed to squeeze 25 Corvettes into the large lot. Service was prompt, considering the size of the group and the packed restaurant. The biscuits were light and fluffy. The gravy for the biscuits was real! Not that white floury stuff that most restaurants serve. This gravy actually was made from a roux, in a pan where sausage actually was cooked, and made the biscuit even better. I can't wait to drive up from Atlanta for lunch sometime!

Doug's Place serves authentic southern food. Their menu changes daily, but always provides large servings at a reasonable price. You can choose meat and vegetable plate or all vegetables. No matter what time of day you visit expect a wait. The restaurant is always busy! The staff is friendly and definitely keeps your drink glasses filled.

Doug's place has some of the finest southern food I've ever tasted. Whether you are in the mood for fried chicken or meatloaf, or just want a veggie plate this place will satisfy. Its cheap, the waitresses are friendly and cute, and its standing room only whenever they are open.

If you have the chance I highly recommend going and eating there. You'll be coming back for more and more if you do.

Who would have thought that this tiny spot in this tiny town would have such fantastic down home country food. This restaurant has limited days and limited hours. Guaranteed to have a wait, so don't get in a hurry. You won't go away hungry and the southern country cooking is worth the wait.
