I delivered my second child at this hospital. I took the tour and was very impressed by all the programs they offered. The staff was very helpful and courteous. However on the day of my delivery I was scheduled to come in for induction as I was over due. The time scheduled, my bed wasn't available. No problem, although I was still nervous. When I went in I was already in the inactive stage of delivery. They were very helpful I had a short delivery and was taken to my room. This happened around 9 at night. The nurses brought me some food, but no baby. Several hours later no baby still. I went to look in the nursery and my son wasn't there. I'm exhausted and very stress because when they first brought me to my room I was told they were cleaning him up and would bring him to me shortly. I still hadn't held him. After walking around the nursery I went back to my room, my nurse came shortly after asking if I was ok. I explained I wanted my baby. Shortly after another nurse came in with him. She explained that we was having trouble maintaining his temperture and was under observation, but that he was ok now. We had to return to the hospital every day for the next two weeks because of other problems. Each visit the nurses explained everything that was going on, and were extremely helpful.

I have delivered two babies at this hospital via c-section and have been treated kindly and with respect. The only complaint I have is that my youngest was having an issue with oxygen saturation levels, but self-corrected immediately.. and rather than observe her on the floor, she was sent to the NICU. Once in the NICU, we were told she was fine after a few minutes observation, and that if she self corrected, it most likely was nothing major. After an hour, they said there wasn't anything wrong with her. That being said, I was very worried and under a lot of stress when they wouldn't bring her back to my room. It wasn' t until I went down there to nurse her again and a nurse commented that she'd been there 11 hours and it wouldn't be much longer until I could have her back with me that I found out that once in the NICU, they are required to stay for 12 hours, even if they're fine. While I don't have a problem with that, an awful lot of stress and panic could have been avoided for me if I'd been given that information when they took her downstairs. The staff down there was incredible though.. and I'm greatful to them for their treatment of both my baby and me.

This is a great local health system. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The doctors are great and knowledgeable. It is located on Hwy 120 in Lawrenceville, GA. Surrounding the main hospital they have small independent doctor offices. They have great volunteering opportunities. You can volunteer in particular fields that you are interested in. This is a great hospital!
