The Scene
The Tuscan terra-cotta walls and earthy tones give this Paces Ferry spa a warm, welcoming feel. A recent European-inspired re-design of the spa traded in formal frilliness for a more soothing environment featuring an indoor garden for lunch and private couples massage room. Pure Southern hospitality exudes from the smiling staff. The spa's calming atmosphere, far from hip or snobby, should make anyone feel comfortable.

The Services
The lengthy, varied menu of reasonably priced services includes microdermabrasion, hot stone massage and a 90-minute pedicure. An exfoliating and tanning treatment leaves clients glowing like bronze statues. Aromatherapy is popular and choices include rosemary, geranium and grapefruit for balance and citrus and rose for energy. Even a basic massage feels indulgent because of enthusiastic therapists, extremely quiet treatment rooms and soothing classical music.

The Details
Massage, body treatments, facials, hair removal, sunless tanning, manicure/pedicure, makeup application.

Key Points

  • European Charm & Feel

The Inside Scoop

  3. Save Money - For almost all of the treatments, the option of buying a series of six is available. The price for six is equal to five treatments.

TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE MASSAGE!!

by K S.

I went for a much needed massage and JAIME was THE WORST massage therapist I have ever been to! She was rough, and I felt like she didn't really know what she was doing. I have given my husband the same caliber of massage at home with no training! After the massage, my upper back actually swelled up and became so sensitive to the touch that I couldn't even lean back on a sofa!! I called to let them know about this absurd reaction the next day and that I wanted my money back, and their answer was that I didn't drink enough water. I informed them I had received many massages and knew the protocol about drinking plenty of water and that in fact I had been drinking only water since leaving the spa the afternoon before. They informed me that JAIME was the manager, the same person who had given the massage, and that she was out of town till Thursday. She didn't even take my phone number so I am not expecting a call. I will be calling Thursday to discuss this with JAIME and let her know that I will be filing a complaint with the state's business agency. The whole experience was very unprofessional in my opinion. I was handed a clipboard with the standard spa questionaire and told to go upstairs. The clipboard they handed me to fill out my PERSONAL information contained someone else's form so I went downstairs to give my completed form back and to let them know and they shrugged it off. Unfortunately I had already handed mine over , but told them that I would appreciate it if they wouldn't leave my personal info for others to read in the spa. Also, there was no place to put your clothes, purse, etc. and they didn't offer a towel or anything to wipe off the oil after the massage. I even looked in the cabinets after JAIME left the room and found them mostly bare. The woman also told me that they have never received any complaints about JAIME and that she has many repeat clients. I have since seen a handful of pretty negative comments on the web about JAIME in particular, so to all of you thinking about booking at this spa, DON'T!!

Worst Massage Ever

by Megan P.

I went to the Spa on Paces to relax the day before I took the LSAT. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating, and I really liked the look of the spa. When my therapist, Jaime, greeted me she took me right into my massage room and told me to change and hang my stuff on the hook. I was a little surprised, because for a spa that boasts "Celebrity/VIP Treatment," I didn't understand why there wasn't a changing room. I ended up folding most of my clothes and leaving them on the floor, since there was no way to hang all of my clothes on a hook. When my therapist returned I let her know that I just wanted to relax. I never had the opportunity to relax the entire time. The massage was extremely rough and she kept shaking me to see if I was relaxed or to get me to relax. After my hour of pain and torture, I felt terrible. To top it off, they don't offer a shower room for you to wash off the oil. They don't even give you a towel to wipe off. You have to get dressed and walk around greasy, until you can get home to shower. I didn't feel relaxed at all; I felt more like I had been beat up for an hour. I was extremely disappointed and felt like I had just wasted a lot of money. I called the next day to mention that I was extremely sore and felt that I didn't receive the service I had paid for. (I thought since their website also mentioned exceptional customer service there would surely be something to rectify the situation.) The young lady on the phone was extremely rude to me, and blew me off by taking my phone number. She blamed the soreness on me, saying that I didn't drink enough water and the toxins couldn't release from my muscles. My fianc is a doctor, and my intelligence was insulted by this made up excuse about toxins. Overall, this was the worst spa experience I have ever had. I would not recommend this spa to anyone; there are much better spas in Atlanta

Nice, private spa in Buckhead

by Alix N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,409

I really like this spa. It is located in Buckhead, just off of East Andrews. It is nice and quiet and private, and the treatments are fabuluus. I really recommend the reflexology and the mud wrap. You get much more personal service here than if you went to a Spa Sydell, and the prices are good.

PROS: small, private, personalized service

Heaven on Earth

by Busy B Traveler

Rozina is an angel from facial heaven and The Spa on Paces is my personal heaven on earth! I have been seeing her monthly, for over a year now, and have had everything from the Oxygen/Vitamin C facials, to the 4 layer facial, to peels. I am very picky about my skin care since I have ultra-sensitive skin. I can honestly say, Rozina customizes my skincare to meet my personal needs and she makes my sensitive skin seem not so sensitive! I?ve never had an adverse reaction to anything she has recommended or done to my face. In addition to providing great advice on skin care, she has a very therapeutic touch as she explains what she is doing and why it?s good for your skin. I love the products she has used with me, but I also love her facial massages and how she truly relaxes you. I?m a very inquisitive customer, so I ask questions about certain products, techniques and procedures ? Rozina always answers and educates me. My skin has improved greatly since I have been seeing Rozina and I follow her advice and informative instructions on my skin regimen. Even if I moved 100 miles out of Atlanta, I would still find a way to get back to The Spa on Paces for my monthly facial treatments.

In addition to Rozina and her outstanding services, Jamie, the manager, is usually there to provide a friendly greeting and always offers delightful conversation. Every time I come in, she remembers me and my stories. I know she truly cares and makes me feel welcome every time I walk through the door. I?ve also had a couple massages from Howard and he is such a sweetheart! His hands are amazing and he, like the rest of the crew, is a true professional and is amazing at his work. If any of the staff members were having bad days, I could never tell because they are all very client oriented and put your needs as the priority.

The spa itself has a very warm and cozy atmosphere ? never have they forgotten to offer me liquids before and after treatments. Never have any of them been tardy or unfriendly. Never have they not escorted me upstairs to their cozy client area and made me feel relaxed before my appointment began.

In addition to the aforementioned positives, The Spa on Paces carries top of the line products and never force products down their customer?s throats. They give recommendations, but never do I feel pressure to buy anything like some spa?s attempt to do to their customers. Some of their products include Eminence, a high quality organic skin care product line. Eminence is not easy to find, even in a city like Atlanta. After searching everywhere across Atlanta, and experiencing some of the world?s finest spas ranging from Los Angeles, New York City, London, Milan, to everywhere in between, I have to say I?m proud to call the Spa on Paces my favorite spa ? and again, it is my personal heaven on earth.

Pros: superior facials, cozy environment, friendly staff

Cons: dependings what time of day - parking. Typical Buckhead tho

Spa needs help

by MrsBigglesworth

I have been to Rozina a few times and she is wonderful - she truly understands skin conditions and the spa has excellent facial products. It is unfortunate when I call during business hours, I can rarely get anyone to answer the phone and when I left a message no one called me back. When I complained to the owner, she simply responded their voice mail was having issues but did not provide anything for the inconvenience. The same thing is happening this morning and I am once again looking for another spa as no one is answering the phone. This spa should go to an online "make a reservation" system if they can't cover answering a phone during business hours.

Pros: Rozina is a wonderful esthetician

Cons: Can rarely get anyone to answer the phone

Services above and beyond expectations

by killakp

I wanted to try a new spa experience for my birthday and a friend recommended I try something different. I always look for smaller spas as opposed to those big "fast food service" spas in the area. When I arrived I was surprised to see how cozy the placed seemed, with big comfortable chairs and a pleasant staff. I was immediately offered water and then escorted upstairs into my first service which was a signature facial. The aesthetician was amazing, one of the best facials I've ever had. The young lady took her time, always checked to see if I was comfortable, and was very informative with any questions I had. I then had a deep tissue massage which was wonderful. Deep tissue massages aren't easy as most people don't know how their muscles will react to the pressure. This therapist knew when to be easy and when to press while always making sure I was relaxed and satisfied. During my appointment I never felt like I was being rushed, or pressured in and out of the spa like others. I was told I could relax in the waiting area until I felt ready to leave. All in all this was a wonderful experience from a truly genuine spa. A must go!

Pros: Relaxed, Cozy Atmosphere

Cons: Limited parking

Wonderful Experience

by kimsha

I went to the Spa at Paces for a much needed manicure. The person at the front desk was very kind and courteous. I loved the ambiance and scents and felt more relaxed just after a few minutes. I was guided upstairs and sat on a couch waiting for my appt to officially begin and was greeted by one of the massage therapist. My nail care technician was Dana. She did an excellent job and made something as simple as a manicure a relaxing, pampered experience. My experience with the staff convinced me that I must return for additional services! I here they are regarded as THE place to go for eyebrows so that will probably be my next service.

Pros: special attention to detail and meeting needs

Cons: parking may be limited depending on the time of day you go (but so is every other place in Buckhead)

Great Massage, Great Atmosphere

by CeeCee95

I have visited this spa on several different occassions and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience each time. The staff is always courteous and friendly and my visits are usually for therapeutic massages. Each time my massage has been wonderfully relaxing. I prefer this spa to other's as they make each person feel special and take time out to understand your needs prior to providing service. I have and will continue to reccomend this spot to my friends. The atmosphere is relaxing and tranquil.

Pros: Ambiance, good service

Just ok

by SpaGirl03

I was really looking forward to this visit and unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed and out $225 at that!

One thing that struck me was that the place was trying to be upscale, but failing miserably. The paint on the walls looked poorly done and it had a feeling of a mediocre place trying to be something it was not.

I had signed up for a body scrub with massage, mani/pedi and an eyebrow threading. The girl who gave me my massage was too rough and even though I asked her to lighten up on the pressure, she was still too rough. Also, even though body scrubs are supposed to be somewhat abrasive, I felt like I was being rubbed with sandpaper. I would also say, that as a frequent spa goer, I was dissapointed in the way the room was designed . Many places that offer this have a shower in the room. The person scrubs you down and then you shower the scrub off of your body,

The girl doing the mani/pedi was nice, but not even 2 hours after the mani, the clear coat began to peel. Also, the nails were uneven.

The only good thing I had here was the eyebrow thread. It's hard to find someone who is competent in eyebrow threading and this girl was quite good.

I went here to relax and escape. This was just ok, and if I had to do it again, I'd go somewhere else.

Pros: Nice area of town

Cons: Overpriced

Buckhead Bliss

by CCouvillon1

I discovered Spa on Paces as it is next door to my hair salon (Zapien's). Wanting to relax one Saturday, I booked a 4-layer facial and a 1-hour massage. The facial was incredible and the esthetician was very informative. She educated me on the products she was using and how I could improve my skin. They have this amazing line called EMINENCE which is organic and made in Hungary- I ended up purchasing a pear & poppy seed microderm polisher as I loved it so much during the service.
The massage was terrific as well and I will definitely come back as I left completely satisfied.

Pros: Client service was top notch

I tried this spa after a friend said they were the "berries". I thought the massage lacked and the facial was dated. I left feeling like I would have rather gone to the gym. I understand that places have off days and this just might have been one of them. The front desk staff was very nice and the place was clean!

Yummy Manicure!

by Snevada

In June I came with my husband to celebrate our anniversary, we had such a fabulous massage, I decided to come back and try a manicure. Their menu changed a little bit since I'd last been, so I tried the revitalizing manicure. I didn't think I had the patience to sit through an hour service but I am so pleased I did. I was pampered to the fullest, warm towels, massage, and the best part was the yam & pumpkin peel. This stuff not only smelled good enough to eat but it really helped my hands look and feel great. I could definitely make a habit of this! Spa On Paces, thanks for the yummy manicure!

Lackluster

by jboeke

Husband and I went for a couples massage on our day off as a little treat. We read the reviews here and had high hopes for Spa on Paces. We really liked the entry and the decor/feel of the place - not like being processed at Spa Sydell - but that's where our enjoyment peaked. The massages were weak. I expect to leave feeling a bit like jelly and almost sleepy from the relaxed state it puts you in. Instead I felt like some woman had just run oily hands over me for about an hour but barely touched my muscles. My husband's was a little better, but we agreed it was the worst either of us had every had and was definately not worth what we paid. We won't be going back because we did not feel we got the relaxing, de-stressing experience we expect from a massage.

Pros: nice environment

Cons: bad massage - not relaxing at all

massage

by 1110111

While the massage was first rate, my spouse and I paid $200 for a couples massage. The website boasted that with this fee champagne and fruit would be included. As a couple, my spouse and I looked forward to that. Instead, there was no champagne and there was no fruit. After the massage, we were taken to a room and given what I presume to be tap water. I could have gotten a good massage at Massage Envy for $40, but instead I chose to go first rate assuming I would be receiving all the perks associated with the pricey massage. I was, essentially, disappointed. So if you want a good massage, fine, go ahead. Just don't pay for any extras because you probably won't get it.

Pros: Wonderful Massages

Cons: False Advertisement

Houston Visitor Highly Impressed!

Presently a resident of Houston, I scheduled an appointment at this spa while on vacation in Atlanta. I highly recommend this spa based upon the exceptional service, ambience/atmosphere and professional, friendly customer service. Tomiko eased me to sleep and relieved muscle tension during my 60-minute deep tissue massage. And, I appreciated Jamie's friendly demeanor while she made me feel welcome & comfortable soon as I entered through the doors. The next I am in Atlanta, I will be sure to visit Spa on Paces again. Job well done ladies!

Step Into An Oasis of Peace and Calming Atmosphere

by andrewthomasg

Wow! I have to admit, not being a "Spa Guy" - I wasn't upset, but wasn't overjoyed when I found out my wife and I were booked for a couples massage as a gift. I was sure it'd be fun, but did that mean it would be great? I didn't think so to begin, as I'd been through many massages at spas and other places in the past - I'd even been a sports massage guy in college for a 2 yeat stint - and that led me to the firm belief that many spas and therapists were, sadly, overrated.

But now, well folks, you're talking to a Spa convert - at least a Spa on Paces convert. When we walked in at 11 am on Sunday morning, we were met with a friendly smile, escorted upstairs to fill out some paperwork, and while doing so, we were offered drinks and fruits. Nice start to the day to be sure. Then the fun really began.

Our massage team came out and introduced themselves and then took us to the couples room, where two tables are set up side by side, candles are lit, and a small water fountain makes nice background ambiance. My wife and I readied ourselves, and then were treated to 90 minutes of blissful delight. Both our therapists were amazing - asking questions when needed, but mostly intuitively gauging how much pressure, how long, etc.

I've been massaged many times before, as I said, but never like this. Having my wife there with me, was also very cool. I'd recommend a massage at the Spa on Paces, solo or couple, as I have now had both. I am now a Spa Guy - thanks Spa on Paces!

Pros: awesome staff, amazing atmosphere

What an amazing journey & experience

by joyriderusa

I've checked out tons of websites and researched on many spas and the moment I came upon Spa On Paces' website I knew it was the one. I came from out of town in Augusta and took 2 of my other friends with me. We all schduled ourselves Rejuvenation Day packages and the experiences we had were simply amazing. It was the most relaxing and enjoyable 4-hour pampering journey I've ever had. I started out with a massage by Jamie, then a facial by Rosina, then a soothing and comforting manicure/pedicure session by Aionee, all these to end it all with a delicious lunch and a glass of wine to complete the package.

The only regret I have is that I didn't have time for more services done as I wanted to get my makeup applied by Sam.

I was humbled by the experience and will be sure to come back again. Great Job!

Pros: great friendly & professional staff. great services. great pricings.

Cons: none

A soothing and comforting experience

by desariofan

I am a male and I like to shop around the spas and check out the services they provide and I stumbled upon Spa On Paces few weeks back as I was getting my hair cut next door at Zapiens. I wanted to have my eyebrows groomed and a relaxing/pampering facial done. They recommended a threading for my eyebrows and the end result was tremendous. I immediately was converted to the use of threading for eyebrows because the threading doesn't hurt as much and after 2 weeks my eyebrows were still in shape. The threading obviously lasts longer. I had the therapist show me how exactly threading works on my leg hair and it was quite interesting! I then had my facials done in what they called an ultimate facial. Just a great, enjoyable, and satisfying experience over all. I highly recommend this spa for all.

Pros: Relaxing atmophere & professional staff on site.

Cons: None at this moment

The lowdown on The Spa on Paces

by kaatiya

The Spa on Paces is a delight. I was looking for a top-quality spa, without the attitude you get at most Buckhead spas. I have finally found it in The Spa on Paces. From the moment you walk in, you are made to feel like a queen. My sister and I were whisked upstairs to a posh waiting room where we were offered water and magazines. When my glass was empty, a kind lady rushed over to fill it. The manicures, pedicures and facials are top-notch. Bona for facials, manicure or pedicure (A+), Lina for manicures or pedicures. AND the wonderful, talented Kat for facials and other body care.

For the best spa in Atlanta, minus the pretentious snobbery, visit this hidden jewel!

I sincerely feel the previous comments were from the competitiors of Spa on Paces. This is one of the most beautiful day spas in Atlanta and I have never experienced such quality and personalized service. This day spa is a hidden secret and is definately a "top spa."

Pros: Private, Personalized, Professional
