I love this place! Great for a date night or just hanging out with friends. The food and music are always good. Some of the wait staff could use better training but all in all a great place to go!

My party of #9 were seated near the band and we loved the music. It was a little loud but, a great seat. The venu is just the right size. Our waiter was nice and explained to us the "fine print" on the menu.
The "hidden charges" are not told to you and are not called for! We even looked on our parking tickets to find a "tip charge" after we paid on the way in. It seems like they take for granted that you are a "cheap" person when you pull up to the door. The food was bland and not worth the asking price. I have had better food for half the price. I would pay the $5.00 for the music again and skip the food. The food has got to get better for me to go back. It is just not worth it at the end of the day.

The drinks were strong and the music was so great. The minute I walked in I felt at home. The bartender made me laugh and the crowd was eclectic. A perfect date place, I highly recommend it! The women were everywhere, so it might be tough to meet the 'one' there...:)

Sambuca is my spot!! You just never know what celebrity you are going to see on any given night.... I won't name drop but, I did see one of the ladies form The Atlanta Housewives up in there. This will be my ahng out form now until. It is a little pricey but, well worth it....

Just came from that God forsaken place. Do not go, stay away. They charge for everything, it's ridiculous. I have never been hit for a charge for a band. They had a service charge for a party of 15 of us with the gratuity on top of that. This reminded me of one of the restaurants in Atlantis in the Bahamas, you get nickeled and dimed for everything.

The waiter was very condescending and the food was so bland. I ordered a shrimp plate and it was very disappointing. My wife and I paid $115 total and I think McDonald's would have been better. Trust me, do not eat here.

I came to Atlanta for a week-end getaway with my hubby to escape from "Motherhood" Don't get me wrong... I love being a mom however, I need to get away and remember that I am in love with a sweet and lovely man of my dreams!
Sambuca was just the place we needed for a date night! Not only was is beautiful inside, The staff made me fell like a rock star! I loved the fact that the live music was so cool but not to loud that I could talk to my husband and not have to scream. The food and drinks had a fun twist to the norm and I enjoyed all of it down to the dessert that was perfect to share. I live in Nashville and have gone to the one in the Gulch and loved that one to! So I was not surprised to have such a good time at this one in Atlanta ! But like all good restaurants in any city it is always a good idea to call ahead and make reservations at least 48 in advance.I did for our Saturday night dinner and that might be why we had a killer table with a beautiful view of the stage and we were seated as soon as we came in. Keep up the good work Sambuca.

I took my daughter for getting her great report card. I wish I knew what I know now. When I made reservations 6 hours in advance they only had one time slot available. We were informed that we needed to purchase at least 1 entree per person and there was a $2.50 charge per person for the music. When we arrived we had to pay for the valet upfront (!), had to wait in the hall way for 5 minutes while no one was in the restaurant... The reception was not very friendly and welcoming. Service was ok, but hard selling. No water or bread, unless you want to pay extra. The food was very average. Olive Graden would have been better, except for the good music and the wonderful crowd. When paying the bill, they recommended 18% on the receipt.. (like they do in South Beach and actually add in on!). Like I can't figure it our myself.....All and all not a good experience they won't see me there anymore for a while. Hope my daughter will forgive me......

Where else can you take a date that has great food, live music and kicken' scene? I had no idea they had concerts every Thursday night! I knew there was live music every night but these mini concerts feature some headliners. I took my date to Sambuca and let me tell you this couldn't have been a better date night. We weren't prepared to dance but the music was just too inviting. The food was perfect. We started with the Bucca Beignts and moved on to the Blackened Tilapia ?touffe and Chicken Fried Ribeye. Half way through the meal we switched entrees, yummie! I will for sure take my next date here. For the price the evening was complete.

Talk about over rated!! On Saturday 1/23/10 my girlfriend and I met some friends at Sambuca??s. I??ve been on two other occasion just for music and drinks but never for dinner and if had eaten the food the other two times I would have never went back.

Let me start with the good points, the music was nice. Now that I??ve gotten that out of the way let talk about what went wrong. It took maybe 15 minuets before anyone in the Waite staff visited our table. The waiter came to take our drink order which included plain h20 along with the alcohol, he brings the alcohol but we have to wait another 20 minutes for the water. The restaurant isn??t that big so I??m wondering why did it take 20 minutes to bring water. Instead of an entre I ordered a house salad, a bowl of gumbo, a side of praline crusted sweet potatoes and a small plate of sea bass skewers. The salad was good no complaints but how can you mess up a salad, the bowl of gumbo had microwave rings all around the rim, and tasted like they poured a pound of salt in it, if you have high blood pressure stay away. If you?re looking for a dish that has absolutely no flavor, no seasoning and no presentation order the praline crusted sweet potatoes they sucked.

I could go on but I think you get the idea. If you want to eat at a place with nice atmosphere, good music and lousy over priced food then Sambuca??s might be the place for you.

I thought Sambuca was a very good enviroment. On Dec 27th 2008 my hubby and I went there for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and we had a very good time. The jazz band that performed that night was called "Papa Soul" and they were amazing, they sang Happy anniversary to those who were celebrating theirs or their birthdays, also the food was delicious and so was the drinks, at first we had to wait to be seated, but it wasn't a long drawn out wait, I did recommend others to go and they said that they had a very good time as well going to the one in Houston, which I plan to go again but in the city of Houston where I now reside again.

NOTHING!
A friend and I went to your restaurant/jazz club on Friday, Sep 4, 09 for my 59th birthday. We made reservations for 6 pm. We arrived at 6 pm. were seated right away given the menus. We waited for 40 minutes, we got no water. Finally (2) waiters came to the table, no apology, and no water. By the way the restaurant was NOT BUSY. Why the delay? We order our meal; it took 50 minutes to get our meal. The roasted chicken tasted old and very dry. Finally half way through the meal we asked for water, we did get the water pretty fast. But, OMG, I had heard some many good things about SAM BUCA.

We were really disappointed.

Please let me know what the problem was that night, I sure this does not happen often, if so you guys need to take a class in customer service.

SO SAD????.

I am a retired chef so I am hard on restaurants, but I feel I am fair. Any establishment can have a bad moment. It can be corrected by HOW the management reacts. Jayme the General Manager of Samuca, reacted properly. To digress, I sent a copy of my first review to the GM of Sambuca's. Within an hour I had received a reply apologizing and explaining the volume problem. The letter was professional and it invited me to reconsider. So I renewed the reservations and I am glad I did.
Basic Facts: Two show 7:30 and 9:30 with choice of $15 seats or VIP $25 seats. We took the $25 ones but I think the $15 would still be good, at least on weeknights. Very good waitress and nice menu choices. My wife's seafood risotto had perfectly cooked shrimp & scallops. The risotto was over cooked but tasty. My MR petite fillet with fried lobster was rare but the quality of the steak overcame any desire to send it back. The lobster was great with it and the fresh asparagus side was very good.
What made the evening memorable was the Southern Gentlemen, a true, talented group. Their music, their performance and their persona were stand-up applaud style. They had a guest violinist, Michael Ward, who took the performance even higher. He played jazz to bring tears to my eyes.
If you can afford $60 and above per person and want an outstanding evening, then run, don't walk to get to Sambuca's. (Call ahead to make sure that they have the style of jazz you want.) I will return!

Pros: Food, Music 5 stars

Cons: Pricey for some

Took my family there for my mothers birthday and the place was just terrible. Tacky on the inside, the food was total junk, and the drinks were the most watered down I've had literally in my entire life. Even after telling the waitress about the watered-down drinks, she made no effort to replace them and the service was terribly slow. To top it all off, this place is overpriced.

If you're wondering about where to go for a fun night out...don't wonder anymore about Sambuca. This place is a flop that really does not fulfill its potential, and it will leave you feeling cheated out of a night of fun.

I was there for the New Years Eve bash. It was overpricedt the food was awful and the service was horrible. When the check was given to us the tip was presented as though it HAD to be included. When actually it was optional. ( I would have tipped but just not as much as he expected) My bill alone was $167 which included a $28 tip. The bust boy waited on us more than the waiter. The next day I called to complain about how the ticket was presented. The manager promised to call me back but never did. For a table of 4 the waiter made over $100 on tips alone. The bill for all 4 of us was over $500 which was sooooo much not worth it. This evening was a huge disappointment. I will never return unless I'm sitting at the bar NOT eating and just listening to the music for FREE. I would not recommend Sambuca.

I had never been before even though I had heard about it. My company had our Christmas party there and it was one of the best we have had! We had a great view of the band, the food was great and the music was really good. The band covered all kinds of songs. Later in the evening the band got a little louder and conversation with anyone except for the person right next to me was a little difficult but then we just all got up and went on the dance floor. I will definitely be back to see the other bands they have.

Pros: Ambience, Food, Live Music

.

Very disappointed. My wife and I have been here several times and tonight will probably be our last.
Prices are upscale, decor is upscale, food is okay but service is declining and for a club that proclaims jazz, we saw a band with the keyboard player wearing no shoes in faded jeans and we both felt overdressed.
The club use to flaunt class and now caters to people who want to pay inflated prices for less service and in these economic hard times I believe that will not include me.

Fun evening at Sambuca. Decent food for a jazz club and excellent entertainment. You'll want to request seating facing the stage. If not, you could be around the corner where you can hear but you can't see much. Reservations are important.

This is the first time I have ever wanted to voice my opinion so badly. I moved here from Dallas and was a regular at the uptown location loving everything about the establishment. Thinking that this location would be as nice or maybe nicer being in Buckhead. I have never been so dissappointed and embarrassed. I spent the evening apologizing. Our stay was less than an hour. First we were greeted with the valet(expected), then "can we help you?", the cover charge is $15 per set tonight if you want to stay". My answer was "if we can have a drink or 2 we can decide in a few." We went in for a drink and appetizers at the bar since we had not previously purchased tickets/table for the shows. We learned later that there was a radio station that comes on Thursdays. The bartender who was also the only server in the only area took a while to come take our order, but not before stopping table to socialize. He was very helpful once he made it over and explained the atmosphere or attitude of the restaurant. This restaurant really needs a professional staff make over and soon. I was not impressed with the staff, service, food or drinks. A waste of money!! It is a long way from being a "Jazzed-up supper club and posh Buckhead hot spot." I seriously doubt if I go back to this place again. I will wait until I go home for visits to Dallas.

Walked into a darken room, the family & I were seated immediately for another birthday celebration (fab 50 is soon becoming shrewd 60). The restaurant itself is beautiful & very eclectic. We went the last weekend in June, the singer was excellent. We had so much fun, the singer kept the audience involved. We ordered starters; crabby cakes;shrimp tempura & calamari fritti; all were excellent. Entrees ordered were shrimp tempura;ny strip;pork chop;hamburger; chicken toscana & parmesan encrusted chicken(my favorite & it was my birthday). The cheesecake was shared for dessert but by the time we got dessert; who cared. Drinks flowed; music was first class and food excellent. We had a grand old time and will return again, maybe we will go back for a good blues night. I think because of the atmosphere, this would be a great place for a nice even romantic date; there were seats that were very intimate & cozy. I really enjoyed the experience, I would recommend to anyone wanting a restaurant that was cozy, intimate with good music, good food. Here is my tip for you, study the menu before you go because if you seated upstairs, it ,may be too dark to read.

Sambuca, which was once a great place to hear live music and eat good food has turned for the worst. The weekend music is horrific unless you feel like attending a wedding. Music during the week is reasonable but you will be eating alone because the food is horrible. I would pass on this restaurant if you care where you spend your money.

I first went to Sambuca Jazz Cafe a few years ago while living in Atlanta, for a night out with a couple girlfriends. They had an amazing live jazz band playing, and I don't know who the featured singer was, but she was great. I think the ticket price of food and drinks might be slightly higher than some other spots, but I'd say it's worth it for a great night, with good musik and a nice atmosphere. We sat in the back the first time i went, where there are plush red-velvet covered booths, and i must say, if it were a date, it would have been ultra romantic. I would definately recommend this spot to any guy trying to make a good first impression on a new lady. There used to be a dance floor here i think, but perhaps it's not that way anymore... if not, that's a shame.

I knew of another Sambuca Jazz Cafe that actually had a dance floor to go along with the live jazz music. Being a swing dancer, I was excited about going to Sambuca and maybe getting to dance with my date. Unfortunately, it was only after I arrived that I found out this location didn't have a dance floor. We got seated at a table and ate an expensive meal (that honestly was good, but not worth the price), listened to the live jazz (which was excellent), and left without satisfying some dancing urges. Oh well. Sambuca has a great atmosphere, but be prepared to shell out some dough.

I went to Sambuca yesterday and the food and the entertainment were great but I expected that. I hadnt been there in a while but I knew it would be good. The extra bonus was the smokin' hot managers!!!! One in each flavor!!!!!!! Go for the food and the live music stay for the eye candy with the keys!

While the place seemed impressive at first, but we were soon disappointed. We went in for an after-dinner drink and to listen to some live music. We sat at a table in the bar area. The bartender who was also the only server in the only area took about 10 minutes to come take our order, but not before stopping at another table to socialize. Our table was dirty. The restaurant was big but the ventilation was horrible. The whole place smelled like fish. The music was great, but I doubt I'd go back to this place again.

We had a wonderful time on Friday night. We heard Ron James perform and he had all these talented people with him. I called up to the restaurant and found out he willbe back again with them in May and I am excited. It will be great. I recommend going.

I went there about 3 weeks ago for my mothers birthday and Phil Perry performed with Bob Baldwin. On top of that Joey Sommerville was there. All that talent in one room. It was so much fun. The food was great. I loved my Salmon and the fried cheescake. We will be back again.

The restaurant looks nice and can accomodate various size groups. The music is amazing but from management down the customer service is horrible. So if you are willing to deal with horrible service, attitude, rudeness and bland food then this is the spot for you. But if you are looking for more than just a good band then find another location because this is no it.

If you like jazz as you eat, check out Sambuca. This is the place for couples to laugh, eat and enjoy one another's company. This is a true "hot spot" in Atlanta. The food is good and the environment is soothing!

Well I must say it was very enjoyable. I attended the Ken Ford performance and it was NICE! The food however sucked! I ordered the lobster enchiladas ... they weren't worth the 20 something dollars listed. I actually had a better meal after at Mcdonalds:( The drinks however were really great. I started with a hurricane and ended with a few mojitos (very refreshing). I would have to say the ambiance was nice, the wait staff was very attentive, but the taste of the food needs to be taken up about 10 notches. Word of advice, check out online who's peforming before going. Also don't get offended when the bartender reminds you at the time you're handed your tab to tip :(

I am sad to see many people with bad reviews of this place. I have NOTHING to complain about! The wait ... okay but most should have the sense to make a reservation ahead of time... the wait is LONG b/c it is a great place! I actually did not experience any of that though... everything was SUPER! I would suggest this to anyone that loves a great time and great jazz!

Went here for a celebration dinner with my boyfriend. The service was very courteous, doing the traditional things such as asking my boyfriend if he could put the napkin on my lap, etc. We went a little early so the musical entertainment wasn't quite ready, but overall the experience was a very positive one. Even the food was good (I had the Shrimp Capellini), which is something I didn't expect.

If you are looking for great ambience, nice jazz and good food--Sambuca should definitely be on your list of "Must Trys" in Atlanta. I have been visiting Sambuca regularly for many years and it is one of my favorite places in Buckhead. I recently visited the restaurant with an Out of Town friend and he absolutely LOVED his entire experience. Although my experiences have been primarily wonderful over the years, I have noticed a number of negative reviews and I would offer a few suggestions to newcomers that I hope are helpful. First, I have found that is very useful to make a reservation in advance, as the wait can sometimes be lengthy. I also make a point to call or check the website (has detailed info on bands) to find out who will be performing on a particular night. Honestly, some groups are much better than others, so Always check first. The menu is also posted online and I have found that my guests and I usually do well by going with basics like the New York Strip, Atlantic Salmon or Sea Bass. Sambuca is NOT a fine dining restaurant and the pricing is primarily for the entertainment/atmosphere and is a little high--But worth it. Final FYI, Fridays and Saturdays have cover charges--unless you are having dinner; Parking is Valet only, but is complimentary; Sit away from the stage, but within viewing distance if you want to hear your party; and Enjoy!

I am new to Atlanta and wanted to try a restaurant that had been recommende by both locals and visitors, so opted for Sambuca with a friend. I was pleasantly surprised on arriving to find out the valet service was complimentary and happily glided to the bar for a delicious Apple-tini. We were seated shortly after our first drink and proceeded to order both the petite and full-sized steaks (our waiter proudly informed us that all beef is Angus certified - yum!). Our whole meal was delicious and complemented by the fab jazz music. I plan on becoming a regular.

After much debate reading the recent mixed reviews of the restaurant on this site, I finally decided to try it out for my boyfriend's birthday. The dining experience was amazing. The wait staff was not unattentive or slow as many would describe. I found them to be extremely courteous as they allowed us time to talk and enjoy the experience without being interrupted every few minutes. The food is incredible in both taste and presentation. To top it off, the band was magnificent. Sambuca's is definitely an experience you should try at least once.

Do you have a babysitter? Is the boyfriend/husband glued to the couch watching football? Then gather up some of your girlfriends and head out to Sambuca. The atmosphere was great! The music soothing. The drinks strong and the food tasty. A great place for the girls to get together to relax, relate, release.

As with many of the restaurants fighting to stay alive in the over-priced real estate of Buckhead, it seems as if Sambuca no longer cares whether its patrons are happy or not. Maybe it's because just about everyone who goes to Atlanta these days is from out-of-town, which includes the "suburbs of Atlanta" - some of them 40 miles or more away!! Once you've driven your family or real out-of-STATE friends to Atlanta, what are you gonna do?

After waiting 45 minutes to be seated, our waiter must of have lost his way to the table. It was another 15 minutes before he showed up (maybe he had to drive to the restaurant from my town but couldn't afford GPS!). Then he seemed more interested in pretending that I looked like Angela Bassett than taking our orders. It took so long from the time we were seated to the time we were finally released on parole, that I barely remember what anyone had. I know that I didn't have anything because, for some reason, everyone in our party's order was put in, except for mine!! Would that have happened to Angela Bassett?! By that time, I wasn't about to order again and tack an additional 30 minutes on my friends' sentences! You would think, to make up his gaffe, that he would at least offered the table free dessert or picked up the minimal bar tab. Nope! He acted like all was right with the world. You know, like when you order a burrito with no beans from Taco Bell and you point out that your order is wrong. Then, everyone, including the manager, looks at you like YOU'RE the one with the problem because you are allergic to beans! Well, after waiting 25 to life for the privilege of paying for this disaster, I made sure that he would not be able to afford a GPS (or a map!) that night with his tips!!! Better steal one!!

Hey, Angela Bassett - no fries for you!!!

I had the opportunity to dine there last week on a Thursday night. The food and service was great and the music was as well. The menu really offered a wide variety of choices and the overall atmosphere was great. I was with a friend and we needed to have a conversation and the level of the music was just right to allow us to do that without having to scream. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgable and our experience would definitely have us come back. I was also very impressed with the web site that was both user friendly and up to date !!

The jazz music at this place is always good. The service wasn't as bad as it has been on other occassions. I ordered tuna semi done and it arrived at my table well done. It had a rubbery feel to it. The wife ordered the flat steak with veggies well done. The wrong steak dinner was delievered to her. The waitress had a good attitude and return both items to the kitchen. We got both dinners in good time and it turn out to be a great night. I enjoy sambuca for its jazz music, ambience and the wine.

I went to Sambuca for the first time the other night. It was incredible! There is not another restaurant in Atlanta like it...They had Maria Howell playing...She was from the Color Purple...She sings everything from Jazz, to the Blues, etc....She had us up dancing....Our server Roger was excellent...He has been there almost 6 years!! He talked me into a Wedding Cake Martini which tastes just like Wedding punch!! My fiance tried the Redbull Martini and loved it...I ordered the Tuna which was served raw...It melted in my mouth!! My fiance had the Filet and it had a walnut butter topping....But..the best part was the Chocolate Desert!! It was called Pots de Creme!! It was like chocolate heaven in my mouth....I felt special as Maria played our requested song for us....The Chef even came out to thank us for being there...

We had just moved here from Chicago and our experience was great....We will be back again!

I chose this place because I had a couple of friends in town from California. To my disappointment the wait to be seated was 25 minutes, the food was mediocre and our waitress was wretched. We never received any type of rolls or bread with our dinner. We asked for fresh grated parmesean cheese, of which they did not have. This is not a fine dining restaurant at all. It needs to be re-classed as a half attempt spot for some ok jazz.

I took my fiance' here on Sunday and the service was terrible. We waited 45 minutes to be seated in a half full restaurant. The food was OK at best! I spent just over a hundred dollars for two people and left feeling very disappointed! To top it all off the waitress felt it necessary to write her tip amount on our check! Never again! 9.1 my foot!

When i make a reservation, they say we can stay max 2 hours due to entertainmet which is understandable. We ordered after we received our drink (about 10 mins), and we received our entre one hour and 30 mins later. I took my friends there for a special occation and every one was upset b/c of slow and unreasonable bad services. It was the worst FINE DINNING expeirence. It is a joke for a 4 star dining. The entire crew should be retrained or replaced. I have to say we did not even receive proper greeting when we step out the car and walk in the restraunt.
In average, only 1% of angry customer will take action. I have never gotten so upset to bother about writing a review. It was that bad.
