my family and i took a long weekend vacation to the blueridge mtns and stayed in the "harley house". we loved the stay so much that we can't wait to go again next year. when we went into town to visit the local shops and do some site seeing, my boys kept asking to go back to the cabin so they could do some hiking and site seeing of their own "in their own backyard". they loved the hot tub, the ping pong table, and the "cable tv". the kitchen was fully stocked as was the laundry items. looking forward to going back again soon.

Avenair Mountain Cabin Rental does not even deserve the one star I was required to enter. We found out less than 24 hours before our predetermined check-in date that the cabin was inaccessible due to inclement weather. We only found this out because we called them, the agency did not even bother to contact us. At first, Mr. Avenair told us we would need a four-wheel drive equipped vehicle to access the cabin. When I called back and inquired whether we would be able to access the cabin if we acquired said vehicle, he told me the cabin still had occupants stuck inside because of the weather conditions. He then refuses to refund the deposit even though it was impossible for us to fulfill our end of the contract. It took me 2 weeks to receive my deposit minus the $30 cancellation fee and it was not even guaranteed. Mr. Avenair was beyond the most rude, condescending, and unhelpful service agent I have encountered. He strung us along the line and was ready to keep the deposit, which would have been unjust enrichment on the agent's behalf. He gave us so much trouble there is no point in chasing after a mere $30. Even the deposit wasn't significant, but it's the principle of his bad business practice that drove me up the wall. Along with this review, I am going to consult the Better Business Bureau. If you have to rent a cabin, find another agency with better customer service. I work in customer service and would never treat a customer the way he treated us. On a side note, Mrs. Avenair is much more pleasant and is who we spoke to when finalizing our plans initially.

Unfortunately I must give all ones to a property that I was unable to see, but I do feel it was earned in this case.

My wife and I made reservations in late October to spend a long New Years weekend in the mountains. We were supposed to check in Thursday, 12/30, and check out on Sunday 1/2. Late Wednesday afternoon, 12/29, an Avenair staff member called to say that the cabin my group was to stay in was unreachable, and had been for a few days, and that it would not be reachable the next day. I asked why I was being informed less than 24 hours before I was to check in, and the response was "I have been calling people since Christmas". Apparently, a simple email to inform me that my cabin may be inaccessible, which would have also given me a chance to look for alternate arrangements on a holiday weekend, was too complicated.

After all of this I received a refund, minus a CANCELLATION FEE. Not only were my New Years plans ruined by a complete lack of concern, I was then charged for it. What a ripoff.

We would highly recommend Avenair Mountain Cabin Rental. My family and I have rented twice from them and are in the process of booking our 3rd mountain getaway and will only rent through Avenair. They are so friendly and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. We love Avenair Mountain Cabin Rental.

Very unpleasant cabin trip. We arrived to find that the water was undrinkable and unusable. It tasted of broken pipes and dirt. The dishwasher did not work; the DSL did not work (and had not for some time after being reported to the Management according to the guestbook). To add insult to injury, we could not clean all of the dishes (again for a broken dishwasher) and were charged an extra $150.00. When we disputed the charge, we were sent a very condescending and rude email. Stay away from these people! There are plenty of other great cabin rental companies in the area.

Harley House cabin has become our favorite Thanksgiving retreat. Everything you could possibly need or want & more. The decor is exceptional. So much love & care has gone into this cabin you feel so at home. The upstairs balcony became my favorite place to sit & read a good book & enjoy the view from so high up. We love that it is pet friendly with the huge wrap around deck we could sit in the rocking chairs & let the dogs enjoy the outside. We will be coming back for years to come. Thank you for opening your cabin to us. It is a pleasure to stay where everything is perfect.

If you're wondering which of the many cabin rental agencies to use for your visit to the Blue Ridge area, Avenair is absolutely top notch. Their cabin selection is quite diverse, and you can expect a cabin that is warmly decorated and exceptionally clean, for a reasonable price. The management and office staff are always pleasant, even when we evacuated to Blue Ridge during Hurricane Francis and the entire region was totally booked. If you're coming to Blue Ridge from the South, the office is very convenient for picking up your cabin key and getting directions. And last but not least, Avenair's website is very informative, especially the 360-degree photos which are available for most of the cabins. We stay at Angel's Whisper, which is on a creek, accepts dogs, and has a great downstairs for children to play.
