I will never make the mistake of going to this clinic again - spent $400 and still have a very sick kitty and NO diagnosis. I was told that if I was a good owner, I would spend all the money possible on all the tests they wanted to run to find out what was wrong with him. We live paycheck to paycheck and even though my cat is my child and I love him beyond reason, I simply do not have the money to have ultrasounds and extensive tests done. This was the most uncaring vet I have ever encountered - would not recommend them to anyone unless you have unlimited funds to give them.

I have used this Vets office since 1998 before I became a Cat lover. I always thought they were decent and continued to use them. I called them today because my inside cat has been ill since Monday night, she will not eat or drink, staying behind the sofa and I was very worried about her. I called to ask their advice and of course they said "SHE NEEDS TO BE SEEN" I explained to them that I am now on disability myself and would not get paid until the 1st. and could they hold my check until next Friday? They said they could not give me any advice and they would not hold my check. I was not asking them to do anything for free but I don't think my cat can last for another 9 days. when I got off the phone with them I was in tears and called them back to tell them that they were in it for the money and not the pets! I understand they have a business to run and have their "policy's" but my baby needed help today and all they said was "I'm Sorry". I will never use them again! It is about the all mighty dollar with them with no regards for the animal itself, or the owner....

We have been clients of EPAH for years and years. And have been involved in the sport of purebred dogs for nearly 30 years, so we have a bit of background with which to compare quality of service at vet clinics.

I read with a bit of disgust some of the reviews on this site, those that were complaining about the attitude and service received at EPAH. Over the years, there have been several vets come and go and some front office staff changes. That is the nature of the industry. I have NEVER had a bad experience at this clinic. Over the years, we have had to put down several valued dogs, dealt with traumatic illnesses, needed emergency care, and just routine visits. There were individuals that we dealt with that I didn't particularly care for, but the health of my animals and the care they received over shadowed any personalities.

If one of my animals required surgery, I promise you that NOBODY would touch them except Dr. Ricky Poe.

Dirty, disorganized & rude- dr towles may have a heart for some animals others she saves only to forget and abandon- her level of heart and care for people is almost non existent - she is selfish and overly expensive. I am sure she has fans but if you aren't in that group of people who can do something for her- forget about her having any real consideration or compassion for you! Your animals deserve better and so do you! Stay away - RUN!

Had a sick cat JOE, of course it was the weekend, went to Lithia Springs animal hospital and was given an estimate $1,028!!! (overnight care, bloodwork, exam etc etc). Decined that and was then offered "Conservative Treatment" left with a sick cat, antibiotics, a very lukewarm exam and $192 credit card charge. No knowledge about what was wrong just told to go to a vet on Monday.
Called a few friends and neighbors and heard great things about EPAH. I had taken Joe there once for a bite wound and they were great. At the Emergency vet over the weekend I had actually put their name down as Joe's vet because that is the only vet he had ever gone to. (I use Mobile clinics for Vaccinations and neuter/spay)
I turn on the computer to find the number and stumble on to the reviews...hmmm... a few bad ones...my gut is telling me to go anyway and all of the sudden my phone rings and it is them! They have the paperwork that JOE went to ER over the weekend and they are checking on him! Since I have already been reamed for $192 I am concerned about money and asking a lot of questions over the phone, does he really need to come in? How much will it cost? What do I get for that amount? How much will I know about JOE'S ailment when I leave there? Etc..I got an answer to every question I asked even when they had to ask a vet and put me on hold and come back with an answer. I felt I was in good hands. They were busy but worked me in.
Not a long wait, we saw the assistant who treated JOE wonderfully and answered my many rambling questions to the best of her ability. Joe then saw the wonderful DR WEGENHART.
She gave him such a lengthy GREAT exam I was positive nothing was missed. She talked to me at length and answered all my many more questions. I left there feeling like I had all my answers. I got an office visit, an exam and 2 different kinds of blood tests for $105. I was never pressured to do anymore, I was assured of everything I needed assurance for. I actually felt tlike the vet would have spent as much time as necessary with me. The bill was very fair, the vet (DR WEGENHART) was awesome. They have called each day for two days to check on Joe and I know he had the best care he could have. I guess bottom line is somebody is always disgruntled somewhere and unfortunately the disgruntled guy found this forum to air his nonsense. I will ALWAYS take all three of my cats to EPAH when need be.

My dog ingested a bottle of pain pills and I rushed her to East Paulding Animal Hospital. Unfortunately, all of the veterinarians were at lunch. A receptionist said she tried to contact the vets but no one answered. I was livid. A staffer did direct me to a nearby animal hospital where my dog was immediately taken care of. I no longer do business with East Paulding Animal Hospital and I've urged all of my friends and family to do the same.

I have to admit that they saved my dog from dying with parvo but i do believ they are all about the money and when something is wrong they just take a guess instead of knowing I don't like the staff or the docs because they cut you off when you ask question they arent thorough and honestly i dont think they really studied in school. Granted this is the place to go if you want to fork out a ton of money and see them every other week for the rest of your dogs life. They are like a bad mechanic, i almost think they dont tell you what wrong w/ your pet or they screw them up so you have to come back.

We've been patients since '03. They saved one of my pups from dying from Parvo. They were amazing when my dog recently had to be put down. They saw us in the office with 15 min to spare, yet have all the time we needed. I never have a problem getting same day appts. They are very knowledgeable and compassionate and competitively priced.

I have been taking my cat here since I got her in 09. She hates it, but I like that there is more than one doctor and the staff is really nice. Everyone who works here knows what they are talking about. They tell me what I need and what can wait, being a college student it saves me money. Sometimes there is a wait, but not too long. My cat has had all her vaccines and surgeries here with no complication. The prices are less expensive compared to others vets I have been to in the past. I have recommended this vet to friends and family.

I have been taking my pets here for about 3 years and have no complaints. They are always attentive and I have never felt rushed. I turn in to a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to my pets, and they are always patient and willing to see them, even when it's 10 minutes to closing time. They have fit us in at the last minute on more than one occasion. I have always found their prices to be reasonable.

I have used East Paulding Animal Hospital since they were on the corner of Dallas Highway and what was Dragestripe Rd.(They have moved to the new location now)As For the other reviews that were bad sometimes pets die and there is nothing that can be done. I have always know East Paulding to care about me and my pets. They have always been professional. They were so good to me when my kitten died, she was very sick and they told me up front it did not look good. They even sent me a sympathy card after she died. I take all of my animals here and recommend them highly.

The doctors are friendly and incompetent. Do not let them perform surgery on your pet! Go to a clinic that knows what they are doing and it's not this one. If there are any complications due to their surgery, run, do not walk to another expert vet who can undue their horrible mistakes before your beloved pet is dead. If something doesn't seem right, trust your gut, do not trust these doctors. Again run as fast as you can with your pet and get qualified help.

If anyone would like to see the boarding area they will gladly escort you back and give you a short tour of the facility. Also, they will answer any questions you have about feeding, blankets, walking, etc. All you have to do is ask!

I have been taking my multiple pets (dogs, cats, bunnies, gerbils) to this vet for the past 6 years and have always been treated very kindly. They have been treated us with respect when when have lost pets and as stated below, even sent us a card expressing their condolances. The prices are better than PetMeds.com and they have always been willing to work with me on money issues and do not push you have things done that are costly (unless they feel they would truly be beneficial). I have always gotten an appt when I called (just today I got an appt in an hour). I recommend this place to everyone who asks me about a vet in the area.

I had just recently moved to the paulding county area when my cat became ill. I called them and upon finding out that she was not eating, they scheduled an appointment for us first thing the next morning. They were quite busy, but the doctor took the time to understand what was going on. She was very knowledgeable and considerate. She provided me with an accurate diagnosis, treatment, and estimate of costs, and even offered to work things out with payment. My cat was operated on the same day, and by the next morning she was back home with me and doing great. They let me see her before and after her surgery and they even called me two days after I brought her home to check on her.It was nice to be treated like my cat is a part of my family (which she is).I recommend them.

My babies have been going to this place for 5 years. I have always had a good experience with them. Their prices are very reasonable and the staff are great. Yes, I've had a wait sometimes, but like the previous writer stated, it was because of an emergency with another pet that needed immediate assistance. The doctors spend time time with us "parents" answering questions and addressing concerns and seem happy to do that. The front desk staff are all very knowledgable and happy to answer questions when I call. What impressed me most are the other customers in the waiting room when I'm there with my "babies". All have been very complimentary when talking about this place while we're waiting to be seen. That says alot!

I have used East Paulding Animal Hospital for about 9 years. We had a total of 12 pets up until recently I was honored to be with one of my babies when she left us, just as when she came into my life. The front desk staff is great, when chaos ensues, they always try their best and apologize for any delay.
If ever there is a delay with my appointments - (and I have many!), I never complain as I know that whatever the reason, it is because the Doctors are taking care of someone else's pet - may be life threatening or life ending, and it is what I would want for any of my pets.
I love the multi animal discount, and yes the parking is limited sometimes, and you may be on hold a few minutes at times when you call, but it is all worth it.
When we recently lost one of our babies, they escorted us into a room through the side door, were professional and respectful at this very sad time. Two days later we received a card expressing their sadness too. They coordinate cremations well if desired.

Our first experience with this vet was to put down and cremate a long time friend. We had a 19 yr old cat that we had had for 18 yrs and we were told this would be the best vet that handles cremations as well. The experience was wonderful.. They were so kind and sympathetic. They got us in a room so we did not have to wait out in front in our grief, and also gave us proper time to say our good byes. After the final time, We received a nice sympathy card signed from the whole staff and we were treated as if we have been a customer for years when it was only our first visit. Now we got a new puppy and she needs to go in for shots and a diareah issue. When I called , as usual very friendly and attentive to the needs of our pet. Regarding the persons visit from 6/2008. I am not sure what happened other then the Drs were probably dealing with a major emergency in the back. I have worked for a vet, and it is standard that if the issues is not life threatening that the animal will be seen the next in a situation explained. I can tell you if her puppy was in a life threatening situation this vet would not turn them away... But the Dr has to make the choice of life and death. Surgeries are also done later in the day at times. But again, the other posters issue may not have been and issue of dire need that could not have waited until morning. I would suggest this Vet- the staff is great, office is clean, and they do care about you and your pet.

I thought that I had found a great vet when I took my puppy a few times prior to this horrific experience. My puppy started acting very strangely, she started to bite me and her paws. She had already had an issue with her paws when she was born, so I was very concerned. My puppy was getting wilder and acting more strangely by the minute. This was not normal behavior for my puppy! I rushed her to my vet and I knew I had to because it was almost closing time. I reached the hospital with a minute to spare. The front doors were locked and they told me to go to the back door. I told them what the problem was and the office reluctantly let me in. They then went to see if a vet could see me. The woman returned and told me that they would not see me because it was closing time. She then said that they could schedule me 2 days later. I was and am still infuriated because they could not see my puppy right then. I will not take my dog back to this vet because of this incident! I hope that you will do the same and not take your pet to this vet. They do not believe their mission-to help animals when needed!!!

I have visited just about every veterinarian's office in Paulding County and I am so thankful that I took my baby here, this office SAVED MY DOGS LIFE! I have been taking my two dogs and two cats to this animal hospital ever since, for over 5 years. I have never had an issue with anyone being rude, they have all been very patient and understanding with my babies and their needs. I make sure I go over shots that my pets need and don't need, so that I do not rack up a large bill. I highly recommend East Paulding Animal Hospital.

I love the vets here! Every one has been great to my dogs! I have used these guys for 5 years and have no complaints Tonya has cared for my dogs and is very good at explaining everything that is happening eat every stage. I have also boarded here for a few days in a pinch. The only down fall is that I have never seen where boarding is or that there is any outdoor accomadations for play time while boarding.

We've used this vet for over 2 years and have been very pleased. The Dr's and staff are very courteous and willing to spend time with your pet to diagnose the problem. They even have a multiple pet discount!

PROS: Great Vet; cares about your pet
CONS: Limited parking

I had to take my dog her because he had a problem aand I couldn't figure out what it was. When I got to the East Paulding Animal Hospital they knew exactly what the problem was. They fixed him up perfectly. The next day my dog was fine. It didn't even really cost me.

This clinic is only concerned with money. I was basically told that by not agreeing to have every diagnostic test imaginable run on my cat that I was not a caring pet owner. My cat had diarrhea and instead of examining him for something

I recently had my cat diagnosed with cancer at EPAH. It was obvious she was losing weight and being 14 years old we decided to have her put to sleep. It seemed like it took quite a while for the staff to get me into a room the first visit especially when we had an appointment. Id say it was 15-20 minutes in the waiting room and the same in the back room until the vet came to see us and start with an examination. On the other hand I felt my cat was treated with respect and a caring attitude. A few weeks later as her condition became worse I took her down to EPAH and had her put to sleep. While these things are hard to go thru I look back and can not think of anything EPAH could have done better including sending my family a card signed by all the employees that work there. Its easy to be critical when the ultimate outcome is losing a pet that has become one of the family regardless of service rendered.

Pros: Convenient, good prices

Cons: Very busy, long appointments

I have been taking my dogs to East Paulding since 2003. I drive 30-40 minutes to them. I don't understand the negative reviews except that maybe people didn't get the answers they wanted. Bad experiences happen at even the best of places!
They saved my puppy several yrs ago when he had Parvo. They have done several surgeries, teeth cleanings, and basic illness diagnosis. Recently my 14 yr Lab had to be put down. I was so impressed by their compassion at that time. Both the tech and Dr. Wegenhart got down on the floor with my dog and I. They processed all payments from the room, so I didn't have to pay while crying in front of everyone. They also gave me all the time I needed to sit with my dog before and after she passed. They have also expanded their parking lot, which is a tremendous help!! Finally their cost in comparison with other vets is lower.
Dr. Fornwalt and Dr. Wegenhart are my favorites! They have never steered us wrong!

I was referred to this practice when we obtained our kitten back in July. When I went I was a little weary because I had read the reviews on here about the negative things. I don't know why they would write such nasty things. From the moment I arrived they were very attentive towards me and especially towards my baby kitten. We ended up having her neutered there as well and she came home acting like nothing had happened. I now have a new baby puppy and I am taking him there as well today as a matter of fact. As far as pricing goes they are the cheapest I have found in that area. For a regular office exam it's $35.00 other places wanted $80.00 and up. I think they a reasonable and I think they are very personable there and until they prove it otherwise I will keep my posting here as a good review-those other bad reviews must have come from people who misunderstood something or just couldn't grasp that their pet was dying and no matter ""who"" gave them the news unfortunately that person was in line for their crude remarks in my opinion.

Pros: Everything

Cons: none that I have seen

We gave them all of 30min notice that our dog needed his shots yesterday. Got an appointment right away. Took Zeke down there and was greeted immediately, they even trimmed his claws without us asking. The Vet got down on the ground with him and reassured him as she did her thing. She took her time speaking with us and answered my questions which I appreciated. This is the first time Zeke hasn't gone crazy to leave the Vet's office ( he just scratched at the door rather than launching his body at it)-LOL . It's good to see my 'ole Zeke get such good treatment from people who genuinely care

This vet is so amazing. I took my kitten there the day after i found her and they helped me with everything. They answered all my questions and gave me a bunch of free kitten kits for my new kitten. I feel sorry for people that have not a good experience here, but it makes me mad that you would come on here and write something of that extreme. You have to give a place more than one try to make sure its the best place to go. After all, pets are family not just creatures we have to take care of. Thats why this is the best vet to go to because you are ensured that your animal will live a long healthy life!

Cons: Holding time on phone too long

I had to write this review after reading the one previous. This animal hospital has been taking care of my 7 pets since they opened, and I love them. We have been through many ailments, and they always personally take care of my animals and me. They call me after a visit to check on my pet's status, and they have even sent me flowers after the death of a beloved pet...from kidney disease.\r
\r
I hate that someone else has had a bad experience, but I trust them with my pets' (my only children) lives!\r

If your pet is ill and you would like to see your pet again, run. This vet is OK for very routine issues. Vaccinations etc. For any surgery or anything complicated they are grossly inept. Especially if there are any complications. Go to a clinic that knows what they're doing and it's not this one. If they do operate on your beloved pet and something doesn't seem right, trust your gut before it's too late and you pet is gone forever. Run to a competent doctor or the pet emergency clinic and save your pet. This vets office can't handle anything but the routine and they don't know they're in over their head until it's too late and they are very reluctant to share the truth with you. You will find out all too late. Run, run for you pets life. Get out of there.

I've used this practice for all my furry babies for 10 years. I had to put one of my old kitties down last week and they spent lots of time with us. The vet was with us for everything and offered to let us stay as long as we needed even though they were crazy busy! I've always been amazed that the office staff remembers each and every animal and treats them like their own. And Dr. Fornwalt and the others are excellent vets, very up to date on the latest veterinary treatments and info. I can't recommend highly enough.

Pros: Thumbs up all the way! Great staff, great vets, awesome service!

Cons: That they don't treat humans! Seriously, if they had a separate cat waitin room they'd be nirvana!

We had been going to this vet for five years for all our cats and dogs needs. Front office help is adequate, though fall short on personal attention. The eldest staff member is the exception. Don't expect a personal and lasting relationship between you, your pet and the doctors because as soon as you walk out the door, they will have forgotten your name. Never once in the numerous times I brought my pets in, did a single staff member or doctor remember our names. They keep you waiting in the examining rooms for far too long and once the doctor comes in, he/she is biting at the bit to move on to another patient \r
\r
Even with the impersonal care, I still used their services due to convenience. Then my beloved boxer became ill. She died five weeks after the first symptoms had been reported and misdiagnosed. After several more visits, endless medications and over two thousand dollars, we took her in for a final desperate visit. Our Dr. was not available, so we were seen by the owner, who was very kind and caring. He told us that our dogs symptoms matched those of an inoperable brain tumor and recommended that we take her home and make her as comfortable as possible \r
\r
The incident left a bad taste in my mouth. Our Vet. never studied common boxer ailments, nor consulted with a colleague regarding her symptoms. It was as if her pride got in the way of seeking a second opinion - she never even remembered our dogs name... She tried one medication after another and seemed to discount every symptom we relayed to her. She put our family and dog through hell in those final trying weeks. When I think about how all of this could have been avoided IF she would only have asked her fellow doctor/partner. to examine the dog, it makes me both angry and sad. To add insult to injury, I sold my motorcycle to continue paying her overpriced medical fees \r
\r
After her passing, they're sent me a post card reminding me of needed shots.

Pros: convenience and general competence for basic cat and dog care.

Cons: Impersonal service. Poor interpersonal skills. Too busy -- doctors act harried. Expensive.

We have been taking our Pet family to East Paulding Animal hospital since 1994. We have seen the practice grow from one Veternarian to several veternarians. The doctors have always been kind and caring toward our pets and sensitive to us. We have lost two kitty's due to old age (19 and 22), we have one with Diabetes, one with Feline aids thank goodness our dogs are in good health ages 14, 4 and two.
