Salon Red

There are times when i dont't have time to make an appt with a hair stylist. So i ended up going to salon red which was convenient & walk ins were a breeze. I started with an terrific head massage and their sinks were comfortable! I usually let a hair stylist work their magic and let them know what i needed. My color ended up rockin and the feel of the salon was terrific! Everyone was smiling and having a great time! Each one of the stylist is quite amazin and very good at what they do. I moved here from las vegas so my haircuts and style end up from $150-$200 instead here in the south it was not expensive at all! It was a great and fair deal. You should feel amazin after a cut, style and color! A diamond in the rough made into a diamond! Yes i would recommend salon red! For this great experience: "PRICELESS"

I passed by Salon Red while I was in Decatur last week so I decide to stop in. There was no wait and my stylist was very friendly. Unfortunately the haircut I got was terrible. I specifically asked for my hair to flip out in the back and instead she tapered it and used a razor to shave the back of my neck since the hair was cut so short. Then to make matters worse, the bangs that I said need to go behind my ear are up to my eyebrows, over 3 inches from my ear. I am easy to please and have never complained about a haircut before, even Supercut did a better job and for a lot less money. But for $45 I'd expect my stylist to at least listen to my desires and not use my hair to try out a new style or technique. One last thing, I have seen "Aveda Concept store" mentioned but not one Aveda product were used on my hair that day.

Since they advertise that they welcome walk-ins, I arrived at Salon Red at 10:00 this morning, when they open for business. The store was empty except for the receptionist who told me no stylist would be available until 12 noon. He said there was a company meeting, so no one was working this morning. Turning away potential customers for 2 hours seems a poor way to run a retail business. They wasted my time. I have a bad impression of this business and the way they view the customer's time and inconvenience.

I arrived at 3:05, or five minutes after my scheduled appointment. They have a fifteen minute rule--fifteen minutes late you lose the apt. I find this rule just fine. I was there with ten minutes to spare, however, yet they canceled my appointment. I teach and have my watch synchronized with time on-line. I was certainly not fifteen minutes late. Moreover, instead of being friendly about it the receptionist had real attitude. When I complained that this was not right, he said that their computer clock is always fast. I think that what was really going on was that they had overbooked. Their kids' section has been great for our three-year old, but I had no idea their regular staff were so obnoxious. This place is for anal types who must be there ten minutes early. Others should go elsewhere (or see if one can get to the friendly stylists through the kids' section instead).

PROS: friendly stylists (if you get past the reception)
CONS: obnoxious reception

I just love downtown Decatur- it is such a fun place to hang out. That is one reason I have been very pleased with my visits to Salon Red. Located on the square in downtown Decatur, I have been to Salon Red for hair cuts and highlights. Although it is not my all-time favorite salon, the hair dressers are friendly and give you what you ask for. It is a bit on the funky side, but everyone is friendly. The best? They have the most comfy sink to rinse out your hair after coloring! I also went here with a bridal party to get hair and makeup done for a wedding.

If you are one of those people who do not schedule or plan haircuts in advance but ratehr just decide "it is time" Then this is the place for you. This fabulous salon takes walk-ins for most of their services. Do not be fooled. however, this is not a "great clips or cost cutter" type of store. The stylists are super and they can suggest a really nice cut as well if you know "it is time" but do not know what you want. I have never left unsatisfied. They also have great salon products at reasonable prices.
The price of the haircut is also well worth the money

Salon Red is a friendly local salon with stylists who know how to do great hair. The salon is also an Aveda Concept store, so they carry and use the great Aveda haircare line. The decor is welcoming and stylish, and the whole atmosphere is friendly and scented with that delicious clean hair smell. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you need something complicated or time-consuming (color, straightening), call several days ahead to reserve a slot. If you just need a trim or something quick, you can usually be in and out reasonably quick - though with all the delightful aromas and friendly people, why would you want to?
