Pros: great selection of books that seems to change out often. Book signings and get-togethers with potlucks. Friendly, helpful staff and they are on Facebook. A reading group (check FB for the current selection).

Cons: the exchange

I had brought in several books for trade and a young girl did all the paperwork. Got store credit. Next time I went in, they informed me the store credit sheet was not filled out properly (filled out by their staff) and so I had no store credit. If you go QUESTION them and be sure the person behind the counter knows what they are doing, don't assume they do know how to do the job.

The Book Exchange on Canton Road in Marietta has been in business for what seems like forever. When the new owners took over, it made the place even friendlier. You could easily spend a day or more looking through the stock for treasures. They also have author events. Mary Kay Andrews has been here signing her book, "Hissy Fit." To me, the store could use a little more light in some areas. And the exchange policy is not the best. But if you want used books and you have the time to browse, it's a great place to spend some time.

This store has been in business for a very long time, and for good reason. They give fair trades, cash back to sellers- and have a good selection at good prices for buyers. A little older and dusty, but dig deep and you'll find a deal!

PROS: selection, pricing
CONS: older

My first visit to the Book Exchange was enough to hook me. The selection is great, very broad and comprehensive. The owner and staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I could spend hours in there just browsing. Their exchange system seems fair and I always leave with plenty of new, used books.

I have been going to the Book Exchange for over 20 years. They have a great selection and some interesting things, I do think that their book exchange is a little over-rated. You trade in your books for 1/2 credit, then you buy there books with your credit, plus a bunch of "extras". I don't get it, you could go to the thrift store and spend less money and donate your books for a tax deduction. It was a very appealing place to me as a child though. I would walk there and look for hours in the cheap book section.

PROS: Great selection, decent prices
CONS: Poor trade in policy.

With 30 years of practice, the Book Exchange knows how to run a business! Not only can you trade and buy books, there are book signings and book readings by famous authors. I've always found the staff to be very knowledgable and friendly - able and willing to answer any question I might have. On the second Monday of every month, there is a book club of sorts, where folks gather and talk about books. Of course, there are stacks of books everywhere and, if by chance you can't find what you're looking for, they will be very happy to put your request on file and let you know when it comes in.
