I had to make several visits and it took 6 weeks for Adams Optics to get my glasses made right. The lenses were ground improperly, the optometrist never offered to adjust the frames, and one lens wasn't even properly place inside the frame.

Also, $99 isn't such a deal when the exact same frame can be bought for $39 elsewhere, as I discovered in my case.

I wanted to help out a local business, but my experiences with these guys made me look elsewhere for a properly made pair of glasses.

I have been to many glasses stores and met Optometrists, but Adams Optic(Athens downtown) is the worst of all! The customer service is terrible and the optometrist is the strangest guy I've ever met. The first appointment was great, everyone was nice and everything went smooth. Optometrist asked me to send him my previous contact lenses prescription to his email, but I dropped it off to the store because I was near by. Then he called me later and said I shouldn't have done that, and told me to call the store and ask them to fax it to him. I did not get why he called me while he can call the store himself rather than calling me and making me do it.

Then I showed up on time for my next follow up appointment, but then they told me that I missed my appointment... That did not make sense because they told me that my second appointment will be the same day and time next week, which is what I did. So confused... Moreover, I waited forever for my contact lenses. They said they were going to call me for it, but they never called back....!!! I called 2 weeks later... and it seemed like they had completely forgotten about me.

The owner, receptionist, and optometrist are not communicating well and no one knows what's going on!!!! They are always confused every time I'm there! I'm never going back there!!! Contact lenses were so expensive too!!

This place is excellent. The man at the front desk was so helpful in aiding me select my glasses. He had good taste and helped me choose something that really suited me. The doctor was amazing and thorough and prescribed me lenses better than the ones I came in to replace. I would recommend this place to anyone for the great service and selection.

The Dr. doesn't know what he is doing. I don't recommend the place at all. After I told Dr. that the measure was not correct because I couldn't see well, he got upset and mistreated me, so basically only the first time I arrived he was very nice but after that everything was bad. (this is in downtown Adams optic).

Excellent experience at Adams Optics! They provided great customer service at an unbelievable price. The product was excellent and they had it ready in less than 24 hours. I hate paying a fortune for glasses and because of Adams Optics, I didn't have to.

I've used Adams for 7 years. There are very reasonably priced and have provided good service. Their Optometrist was exceptional. I've always gone to their downtown store.

After spending close to 200.00 on glasses, they were like looking thru a fishbowl. This will be the 4th trip to the store ( they didn't call to tell me the glasses were ready, and they weren't). My advice, go elsewhere.

We have two family members in glasses. The first experience I had was with my young daughter who is hard to fit. The service at the Atl Hwy location (now closed) was poor and the associates were unfriendly. The frame selection was limited and not of high quality...I suppose that's why I only paid $100 for her glasses.

My next experience was at the new location in Watkinsville. Not much has changed. When I went in for an adjustment, the woman proceeded to bend the glasses with her hands rather than using the machine stating, "it doesn't work that well." Hmmm. I've had another pair of their glasses for four months and the lenses are now protruding from the frames. I'll need to make another trip to have them fixed.

Quality: poor
Customer Service: Are these people really qualified?
Summary: you get what you pay for

Adams Optics has recently closed their store on the Atlanta Highway across from the mall. Unfortunately, you now have to go to the downtown store. Their selection of frames is not the best. Lots of the same (duplicates), and not quality frames. Many of the frames I picked up to look at were bent and some were actually missing the pins and fell apart in my hands. No designer frames and the customer service stinks!! It's impossible to get any of the salespeople to help you with frames. There are frames behind the counter which are of better quality (from what I could see after 3 visits). But good luck trying to get someone to help you. They used to be the best place in town to go for glasses - not anymore!!I will however say that they made a big mistake closing the store across from the mall on the Atlanta Highway. They had a better selection of frames, and they were always very helpful and knowledgeable. There was always someone available to assist you with selecting frames. In my opinion they should have re-thought closing the store by the mall and just moved it to a better location. And my suggestion would be to get a better selection and quality of frames - and some knowledgeable and experienced sales help in their downtown store.Sorry - but now I do business elsewhere.

My husband and I used to live in Athens years ago and still stop through to stay on our way to the mountains just to soak up the small but cosmopolitan atmostphere. On a journey several years ago, we stopped into Adams Optics to look at their frames for my husband. Even living in a bigger city we hadn't seen the wonderful selection of frames and could not possibly have matched the personal, warm, and professional service. They even invited us to bring in our road-weary dog to the store! The glasses were ready in an hour as promised and we were on our way with two pairs of glasses that people haven't stopped commenting on. Now, we needed a replacement and it was only a matter of a phonecall and 3 days later they had arrived. What a great business and the prices are excellent!

I went to Adams because of a recommendation from a friend and because their prices were good. About 10 visits and 6 weeks later, I finally left with my glasses and contact lenses. There were some mix-ups with the lense provider, and I know that they were doing the best they could, but it was still irritating. The staff was very friendly, but don't always believe them when they say "I'll call you when they get in," because I often had to call them.

PROS: friendly staff, doctor seems good
CONS: customer service a little on the ditzy side
