The Smoker's Den is a nice little place for the smoker who appreciates anything but a premium cigar. The cigarette selection is impressive and relatively inexpensive, including even the elusive Lucky Strike an unfiltered Camels. A whole assortment of cheap "cigars" such as Black & Mild etc. is available, along with quirky smoking accessories, salvia, pipe tobacco, hookah products, and hookah tables. There is even an unusually large chess board for customers to use.

The service has been agreeable during all of my visits (I am in Athens about 2-3 days of each month). Tanya and "Junior" are a neat pair of people who offer friendly, helpful service and a robust Southern flair. They permit smoking of any kind in the building, and they are rather sociable.

The biggest drawback--and a significant one for me--was the inferior selection of cigars, and I mean inferior in many senses of the word. The sliding door to the walk-in humidor does not close all the way and has been broken as such for at least a year. The hydrometers inside indicate that the humidity stays around 50%, which is far less than adequate for storing healthy cigars. The selection is strange and inconsistent, with a few boxes of the likes of A. Fuente, CAO, Gran Habano, and Punch mixed with miscellaneous cheap/counterfeit/severely damaged cigars. The prices make no sense, are generally too high, and reflect a complete lack of expertise on cigars. There is no air filtration system in the building, so cigar smoke can quickly and heavily pollute the air indoors.

Big picture: Buy your cigarettes here, especially if you like the honest taste of a Lucky Strike!
