I have been a client at South Athens since I moved to the area 3 years ago. Both Dr Mosher and Dr Nemetz have always been friendly and professional, spending as much time as needed to give my cat a level of care I had never received at any other veterinarian I had been to previously. When my cat developed kidney failure last year, they more than met my expectations with the level of attention, expertise, and empathy that made me feel that she was receiving the best care to manage these health problems. In addition, the vet techs and support staff are knowledgeable and caring beyond what I would have ever expected. Overall, I would say this is one of the highest levels of care available at any veteranarian and you can feel reassured your animal companion will get the best care available at South Athens; smart, caring, and qualified people in every aspect.

Since I was a little girl, I can remember trips to South Athens with our family's menagerie of animals. I've grown up hearing nothing but wonderful things about Dr. Mark Mosher and Dr. Tom Nemetz. Later in life when I finally had a dog of my own, I continued the family tradition by choosing South Athens Animal Clinic and Dr. Mosher as Indie's vet. Luckily she has never had a serious illness, but the care she received through all of her puppy vaccines to her spay has been first class all the way.
Dr. Mosher's support staff are the most compassionate, thorough and helpful people from the front desk to the kennel staff.
Just last year, one of my dogs traumatically tore her Canine Cruciate Ligament and needed surgery to return to normal. There was no question as to where I would go for the surgery. Dr. Keith Stout was hired on specifically for surgeries in the early 2000's and has performed hundreds of knee surgeries alone. Dr. Stout performed an extracapsular ligament surgery on Dega's knee and after 4 months of cage rest, 4 months of leash walking and rehab, Dega has complete use of her leg again. In fact, I believe she is better than before.
I trust all three doctors at South Athens Animal Clinic implicitly with any issue, illness or question regarding my animals. They have been practicing top-notch veterinary medicine for almost 30 years and I hope they continue for another 30. Athens (and the world) needs more vets like Dr. Mark D Mosher, Dr. Tom Nemetz, and Dr. Keith Stout.

From Steve & Terri Baker and family (Roxy, Bailey, Annie & Lizzie), 10/24/2012:
"Recently we received a letter from the Vet School at UGA that a donation was made to their building fund by you in memory of our dog Josie that had passed away in August. That was about the nicest thing in the world! We are overwhelmed with gratefulness to have such two caring veterinarians for all of our animals!
Dr. Mosher and Dr. Nemetz love their patients as much as their owners do and it shows. Both doctors and staff at South Athens are the absolute best! From the front desk to the technicians, we are always greeted with a smile and a hello when we walk in. Everyone is always concerned about the health and welfare and well-being of our 4-legged babies.
We want everyone to know that we love our vets and their support staff and feel so fortunate to have you all caring for our animals!
Josie is certinly missed by all of our family, but the
donation in her name comforts us!
The Baker Family"

Drs. Mark D. Mosher and Tom Nemetz have been caring for our many dogs and cats for almost 20 years. During this time I have found them and their technical staff to be professional, knowledgeable and friendly toward us and our pets. They continue to provide us with excellent service and advice for the many health issues, injuries, and wellness needs of our animal family members. The facilities are clean, convenient, and welcoming. I highly recommend this clinic for all the health needs of your cherished family pets.

I have known Dr. Mosher for many years and trust him implicitly. He recently diagnosed one of my cats with a deadly blood parasite. And as my two cats are now my only "babies" I was worried sick. But, again he was precise and immediate and my cat is making a full recovery. His kindness and empathy is unsurpassed and I highly recommend him and his entire clinic for service and caring. P.S. They also are GREAT with dogs.

The last time I went to this clinic was 7 years ago and will never return. 2 weeks before I had to put my dog down due to pnumonia from myastenia gravis, I explained to Dr. Mosher that she was constantly getting up and having to set back down. He sold me dog food for overweight dogs. Two weeks later, I took my Labrador back in to Dr. Mosher as she had been coughing all night. They x-rayed her for pnuemonia and didn't see anything. Later that night after being sent to the vet school, they identified her illness with her symptoms and an xray. She had severe pneumonia from myastenia gravis and I had to euthanize her. Perhaps I could have understand missing the myastenia gravis, but how do you miss severe pneumonia? Myastenia gravis is treatable and I'll always wonder if she could have gone on a few more years if Dr. Mosher could have identified the disease two weeks before her death.

Dr. Mosher has provided excellent care to several pets my friends have rescued over the years. While taking one of these to an appointment as a favor to a friend, I was highly impressed by the dedication and professionalism of the staff. Another of the many great vet resources in the Athens area.
