Editorial by

The Scene
Mediterranean Grill has the humble look of a fast-food joint: gumball machines, laminated tables, a prominent soda machine and lots of orange, red and yellow accents. There's no table service. You order at the counter, take a seat and wait until your number is called to pick up your food. But that's where the similarities end. The Turkish/Arabic chef and owner doesn't allow any canned or frozen food in his restaurant--everything is made fresh, from scratch.

The Food
Savor the thrill of the grill--and just about everything else. Beef kabobs are filet mignon and chicken kebobs are breast meat--both are tender and delicious. Don't miss the Combination Feast, with kufta kabobs, ground sirloin seasoned with herbs and spices. Smoky baba ganouj (eggplant dip) is addictive, as is fetoush aalad, a garden salad tossed with toasted pita chips. Tabouli could use a squeeze more lemon and olive oil.

Reviews for Mediterranean Grill

Ratings_icons Mediterranean Grill is a great neighborhood place to eat.

Lindsay M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,442

Very vegetarian friendly for those wanting something else besides chicken or beef. I normally order the Veggie Plate or the Hummus when I go. Portions are very large for the amount they charge.

Ratings_icons good falafel, good prices

Susan L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 937

I am quite a fan of Mediterranean Grill, and don't go there nearly as often as I would like to. The prices are good, the preparation is quick, and the food is generally very good. I think their falafel is some of the best I have had in metro Atlanta.

One con - the atmosphere. This is almost a Mediterranean diner and not a grill. You order at the counter, pick up at the counter, and eat in a noisy dining area with lots of college students. So don't have a first date here. But if you want good, tasty, affordable Mediterranean food, this is a good option.

Ratings_icons Falafel heaven

Maya G. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 27

We went here after hearing the falafel's virtues praised by many, and it didn't disappoint. You won't get fries here with your falafel, like you will at many other places, but you don't need them.

Ratings_icons Excellent food, great prices, wonderful staff

mikedeboura

My wife used Mediterranean Grill to cater a party of 150 people. The food was incredibly delicious. The lamb, the veggies, the hummus, tabouli, shish kabobs, everything! They were right on time, very polite.
I would hire them again in a heartbeat and I recommend them to anyone who loves Mediterranean food. Oh, and it's a great choice if you have vegetarian or vegan friends as there are many choices for them.

Ratings_icons Best Medierranean food in Atlanta

dorfa

I'm from the middle-east. I know my humus. I know my babaganush. I know my tehini. I know my falafel. This place is THE BEST!!! The salds are fresh, the falafel in=s crunchy on the outside nd fresh on the inside - just like it should be. The service is always very friendly. BTW, they just opened another location in midtown on Monroe Dr.
I tried many places in Israel, Palestine, and Egypt. I tried several places in Atlanta. Mediterranean Grill is the best in Atlanta and lines up with the best in the Middle-East.

Ratings_icons BEST RESTAURANT IN ATLANTA HANDS DOWN!!

justblazechicity

I am from Michigan and i was looking all over for a mediterranean place. I found the perfect place which is the Mediterranean Grill. The business lunch is amazing, hummus, falafel, pita, potatoes, salad, basically everything on the menu is cooked and served to perfection. The food is so delicious and fresh, and the manager treats us like family!! I recommend this place for anyone who loves food PERIOD

Pros: Food,Service,Atmosphere, Basically everything

Cons: Nothing at All

Ratings_icons Good food at a great price

I've only had mediterranean food at two other places (both in oregon), so i definitely no expert, but Mediterranean Grill is a great find for quick, cheap eats. For $6, you can get the Business Lunch Combination Plate (served til 3pm M-F, i believe), which gives you a refillable soda, rice, salad, pita, and a heaping portion of meat (shish & kufta kabobs, gyro slices). definitely great for the carnivore. my (herbivore) girlfriend got the falafel plate and she thought it was good too. all in all, med grill is a great place for a cheap, no frills lunch. i would definitely eat there again. apparently they also have a location on Monroe (by Piedmont Park) now also

Pros: value, good portion, business lunch combo plate

Cons: decor

Ratings_icons Great find.

This was my first experience with Mediterranean food, and I was very pleased. I wanted to try something different for my birthday. So I made the drive from Sandy Springs to Decatur with fingers crossed. I called in my order shortly after lunch was over and was still given the lunch price. Very nice. Because I wasn't familiar with the type of food I ordered the Combination Feast so I would have a sample of different things and be better able to order at another time. However everything was delicious. My order was ready shortly after I arrived. The chef was very nice and polite. I will definitely be back again.

Pros: Very quick and friendly service. Food was great.

Cons: none

Ratings_icons It's hard not to like this place

raekatjae

Food has been good and consistant for so many years it is hard not to like. I like the potatoes that come with the gyros. Depending on your mood there are many options for small or large plates of food. Service is nice, its not fast, becuase I think they are cooking to order. Worth the wait!

Pros: Great food. Casual dining.

Cons: Can get crowded at lunch.

Ratings_icons Great hummus, friendly service, gyro meat not so much

saulk

We were looking forward to a great meal, at a reasonable price based on most of the other reviews. We actually went to the newest location at Monroe Drive in Midtown (which as of December 2006 does not have it's own listing). The restaurant is certainly appealing in appearance and staff.

Lately my girlfriend April has been searching for the best gyro. One of the main requirements is that the meat be cut directly from the rotisserie of lamb. The listing for Mediterranean Grill indicated that the ingredients were all fresh. Well the meat may have been fresh, but it was just missing something...flavor. Yes, I am sorry to say, the meat was tender, warm, but it just lacked flavor.

The hummus was delicious, as was the Greek salad. We would probably return to try other items on the menu.

Pros: Hummus, Greek salad

Cons: Gyro meet

Ratings_icons ok sandwiches

simman

do not understand the raves.this is ok quality for the prices, but not top notch authentic meditteranean like I prefer.Went after reading the other reviews and what a letdown. Maybe it is for students on a budget, but found the quality to be lackign and most dishes greasy. way too much grease on the shwarma, and badly spiced. hard, falafel.guess the lunch buffet crowd likes the lunch, bnut I was looking for quality. would not return. better choices around

Pros: price

Cons: food, parking

Ratings_icons Great stuff!

gyroguru36

This place is awesome! Definitely some of the best gyros in town are served here, and they're always nice about giving me some extra tahina sauce for my falafel. Plus, as an Emory student, it was really convenient for me to just walk up the road to eat there (before I finally got my car down here senior year). Totally recommended for everyone!!

Pros: Emory discounts!, friendly service, great food

Cons: closes at only 9:30!, nothing else really

Ratings_icons Delicious & authentic

carolinaanita

We are repeat diners at this neighborhood "hole in the wall". The food is excellent. We have never ordered anything that was not absolutely delicious!!!! The staff is warm and friendly. The parking lot is often busy and we sometimes have to circle around attempting to get a parking space depending on what time of day it is but it is worth the trouble.

Pros: inexpensive, fresh, delicious
