I saw this doctor for a back injury. I had heard good things. Got there and saw PA Jeff Chambers. He spent no time with me. He never answered any of my questions. I told him I was allergic to Lortab and sure enough, within 5 mins I was being scooted out the door with a prescription for LORTAB! He continued to prescribe me medications I told him I didn't feel comfortable taking. All made me sick. One was even known to give horrible migraines and diarrhea and yet he still gave it to me. I left there one day after many tests with a report stating I had 5 different diagnoses combined and all contradicting the other! Physicians to this day are still baffled by that report. I was in tears thinking worst case scenario. They even gave me literature on spondylothesis and I don't even have it!

I was finally referred up to Dr. Tally. The man is horrible, arrogant and rude. He spent no real time assessing anything. Never even asked a question really. Never heard about what pain I was having. Finally in utter confusion, I asked what exactly was wrong with my back. He said nothing and spent the next few minutes having a fit on me and denying his office had confused me or even given me any literature. He even wanted me to go get the literature and return it to him!

From the word 'medpay' they ran the bill up all they could. They wanted me to have injections in my back (the maximum number of them) before I even tried physical therapy. They didn't even tell me what the shots were or what they would do. Before I even made it home, my phone was ringing off the hook with a pushy receptionist ready to schedule all my shots for me!

To add insult to injury, Dr. Tally then took the liberty of saying some really horrible things in my medical records such as I was lying about my pain, he thinks I just need to get off my butt and go to therapy and implying that I refused therapy. I in fact did go to physical therapy but not there. I went twice as often and twice as long as he recommended and I love it. Its helped tremendously. No thanks to him. And he basically implied that he was only willing to give me one shot out of pity pretty much because I begged for it! I never heard of them prior to that, am terrified of needles and didnt feel a need to jump to shots before less invasive procedures were tried.

Bottom line, this place has been expanding lately. They have become the McDonalds of their field. Its all about the money. Each doctor has a specialty. You see a doctor based on the body part you need medical attention for. While they used to have a good reputation, that doesnt seem to be the case anymore. You just have to hope you get one of the original doctors there who is pretty good which isn't likely to happen.

I have had both of my hip replacements by Dr. Mahoney. He did a fantastic job on both and I was able to resume my active lifestyle with limited restrictions. In addition Dr. Mahoney has a great bedside manner and is very emphathetic in relation to the patients needs. The rehabilation also was great.
In fact although I live in Columbus, Ga.. I will probably have any other orthopedic issues resovled by Dr. Mahoney. In closing P.A. Joe Hale is also great.

I've had 3 surgeries there and did my physical therapy next door. They are really good doctors but they charged 24% interest on their bills!!!! I changed doctors and I tell everyone not to go there for that reason.

While Athens Orthopedic didn't necessarily pinpoint the problem exactly, they did take the time to listen to my symptoms and they did recommend a good physical therapist.

My hubby is an avid soccer player, we've been to seen these guys a few times, even had some surgery one time. Always easy to get an appointment, very little wait time and very friendly staff. I was also impressed the care that we received after each procedure, including a call home.

PROS: staff
CONS:
