My name is Tom Pittard and my son Tyler has attended Sunbrook for over two years. I have NEVER written a review before on this site but two things have encouraged me to do so:

1. My son is getting ready to graduate from Pre K in late May

The school is clean and the director and owner are very pleasant. Every time I'm greeted with a hello, good-morning, etc. The teachers are found to be good as well. At first my daughter cried all the time, but with everything, esp with kids there is an adjustment. It's been two weeks and she's doing fine now. She walks in the toddler room in the morning and greeted by the same teacher. Most times in the afternoon there maybe different teachers, but that's what you're going to get sometime...it is a business with employees and we all call out or get sick from time to time, but for the most part they have tried to keep the afternoon person consistent. Overall I am happy, I know she is learning, and it shows through her actions. I know they are participating in projects (art, song, dance) b/c she comes home with that as well. For price, quality, safety, and cleanliness, I would recommend the daycare. I will continue to update if anything changes with my experience.

I had to take my 16-month-old son for 4 weeks over there. I thought I will drop him off for couple hours on the first day. When I called later to find out how he was, was told that he was doing great and loving it in there, so I let my guard down and he stayed there for about 4 hours. Picked him up and found out that he was crying the whole time and fell asleep exhausted from crying.
Any time I called to ask how my son was doing, I would always get ??he is doing great?, which was not true because when I came to pick him up, the teachers would tell me that he would break out and cry often during the day.
Second week into going there he would cry as soon as I strapped him into the car seat.
There were 2 permanent teachers and they were both were very nice, but there were times that they both were gone at the same time and there would be 2 completely different people and it does not help to small children to feel secure and comfortable.
It was very hard for both of us, especially for my son; he was used to being at home with my mom and having 2 adults per 12-16 toddlers is just not enough.
All children, had runny noses; mine after being there for 2 weeks also had it under his nose all the time too.
If I knew what I know now, I would not have taken my son to this place, but the reviews were mostly good and I thought I will try.
They are not equipped to have online access to the see you child during the day.

I just want to say that this has been a fabulous experience for my son, he started in the first infant room and is 3 years old and still enjoying is Pre 3 K class.

The staff/directors/owner are professional, courteous, and friendly.

This has been a wonderful experience for me as a parent and for my son! Thanks!

We have two girls at Sunbrook Trickum and have been very pleased. Our oldest has been there since they opened and made the transition from the jr. toddler rooms up to pre-k. She was at a different daycare for the first year of her life and she never had the same teacher for more than a month. The old school was dark and outdated. Sunbrook is very bright and always very clean. Most of the same teachers have been there since they opened. Both of our girls look forward to going every day. Sound like some of the other parents who have complained on here need to just keep their kids in a bubble and take them to work with them. Sunbrook is by far the best daycare in the area.

Looking for a daycare for our baby daughter was a difficult experience for us until we found Sunbrook/Trickum! The teachers give her the same hugs and love and care that she gets at home! We are given detailed information on her day every afternoon by the teacher and they let us know how much she ate at each feeding, how often she was changed and when she napped. We are able to take that report home with us to help guide us through the evening.
We see the SAME teachers EVERY day. The director, asst director and owner are always there. It give us a real secure feeling to know the school is being run correctly. I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a quality experience for their child and needs a school that will do the extras for you and your child so you can feel safe.

We have toured many daycares and have been in two before Sunbrook Academy at Trickum, and we have found our home.
We are greeted every morning by the director and every afternoon by the owner. Our son runs to his teacher and is excited to get to school. It has been such a relief for us to know our child is safe and loved during the day and this allowed us to continue our careers.
Sunbrook truly is our home away from home.

This is one of the safest daycares I have seen. It is obvious that the staff takes their responsibility of caring for my three-year old daughter very seriously. I have been to many other daycares that aren't as clean or safe as Sunbrook. The management continually treats our family with the utmost respect; always putting the health, happiness and fun of my daughter first!

Our daycare experience at Sunbrook was SUPER. Our Son is at little River Elementary and is the top performer in his Kindergarten class. We are so happy with the education he received at Sunbrook. The staff and management were always friendly and available, even the cook was part of our daycare experience. Our son has allergy issues and the cook was very accommodating to his needs. If you are looking for a Daycare home this is the place to be.

I have a daughter that has been at Sunbrook Academy of Trickum for the past 2 years. I have been so pleased with the care and educational experience we have received from the owner and teachers of this school that I felt I had to write and tell about it. The school is 2 years old but looks as if it opened yesterday. It is extremely clean and well maintained. The teachers are outstanding and the owner is always available if I wish to discuss my child's day. I wish this school had been here when my older daughter was this age. She did not get the same loving and exciting environment that our younger daughter is receiving from Sunbrook Academy. Thank you owners and teachers of Sunbrook for your wisdom, dedication and support over the past 2 years. You have made our child's first years unforgettable!

We love Sunbrook! We have had feeding issues with our infant son and the staff at Sunbrook have been super to work with. The director set up meetings with the staff to review our issues. Sunbrook has done every thing we have asked of them and more. My husband and I were able to continue our careers due to the peace we found
with our child at this daycare. We love the care and love he gets.
We go home with a Sunshine report every day that lets us know how much he ate and all his other activities. I would suggest this center to anyone that is looking for a safe loving enviroment.

There are not enough words to thank the wonderful staff and management team for taking such good care of my daughter. She is now in elementary school and she is at the top of her class. The staff really showed they cared about each child and the curriculum was excellent. We really miss all of them as it felt like a big family while we were there. We stop by once in a while to say hi and my daughter always says that she wishes she could still go to Sunbrook. If you are looking for the best care for your child, this is it.

After reading all these responses you'd think it would be better for each of you to stay home with your children, as your seeking perfection. I can tell you we had our son in a prior school up to age 6 months and felt like we were in heaven when we transitioned him to Sunbrook. The owner of the location is TRULY concerned about each and everyone of his kids that attend. We have always received calls for even the smallest things, he takes a genuine interest in the development of both our boys, and we could absolutely not find a better establishment for our children, nor would we want to. Our son has outdeveloped all the kids his age in our neighborhood at the same age and he loves to go to sunbrook. I would also say that ALL kids get scratched, bit, and pushed down at this age. This is not an outcome of staff or teachers, its an outcome of kids that age. So again, its probably best you guys home school Sunbrook is the absolute best in the area!

And as for children being "neglected", thats absolutely incorrect. Theres obviously some bitterness for some other reason. There is not one child there being neglected.

It seems like every other week, my child had a note of being out of pampers and wipes. After having this happen on numerous times, I addressed this problem with the owner. He was short with me and said that he didn't know what could've happened to the pampers. I informed him that I had no problems buying pampers but it was strange how my child was always out of pampers. He told me that no one could wear her pampers and that he didn't think anyone took them. I explained that I brought 100 pampers, and from the daily write up they provided, she were only using 4 pampers per day and that they her pampers were size 22 to 37 pounds and that one of the staff members told me that since my child was out of pampers that she was using one of the other little boys pampers. I also stated to him that the pamper they were using (the other child's pampers) were a size 4, same as my daughter's pampers, so I don't understand why he thought no one else could wear her pampers. Then I mentioned that my child should not have been out of 100 pampers in only 3 weeks, when they only used 4 per day x 5 days a week = 60 pampers total. What happened to the other 40? I further explained that this problem had been happening since she'd been there and that was why I brought in 100 (an odd number) so that I could figure out what was going on with the pampers. As working professional parents, we should have peace of mind that our children are cared for when at any daycare facility.

I've also witnessed a staff member jerk hard on one of the kids arms and yell at him, "didn't I tell you to come here." I would not recommend this place at all. All of the kids had dirty snotty noses just as the other parent stated below. The staff would only clean the noses when they knew it was time for the parents to pick their child up. My child was always out of pampers because they were using his pampers on other kids and I'm sure the other kids pampers were being used the same way.

The staff also allowed the kids to go out and play in the Mulch. On 4 different occassions when I went to pick up my child, her hair was filled with Mulch. The teacher told me that the kids love to play in the mulch and they couldn't stop them from throwing the Mulch. I informed the staff that it wasn't safe to throw wood chips as it could cause damage to their eyes and to please try to keep the kids away from that area of the playground. Well, the next day, the same teacher that I'd asked to keep the children away from the Mulch, especially mine, was removing wood chips from my daughter's hair. When asked what she was doing, she told me that she was trying to pick the mulch out before I came and that she thought she'd removed all of it. I told her once again that the Mulch wasn't safe and she said well sometimes we don't have a choice but to take the kids to that side of the playground . I removed my child from this school. There was no telling what else was going on there. I placed my child in Creme De La Creme, close to my job. Thus far, we're happy.

The kids noses were always dirty. My daughter nose would be running. The mucous would be dried up on her face, it was hard and crusty under her nose and around her nostrils, appearing as though it had been messed up all day. I, my husband, and my mother addressed this to the staff each time we'd pick up our child early for a doctor's appointment, etc. When addressed to the director she told me that she didn't know we were coming early. She made this statement each time we mentioned how dirty and nasty our child's nose was. I informed the director that the purpose of showing up unexpectedly was to make certain that our child was being properly taken care of.

Sunbrook Academy is not a good choice for any child. My daughter is 2 years old and came home with scratches on her body every other day. Neither the staff nor the director informed me about the scratches. My child was pushed down on several occasions by other older 2 year olds. I witnessed two of these incidents, once I went to pick up my daughter, she was standing off to herself crying / screaming. I asked the staff what was wrong with her. The staff said nothing, however one of the older 2 year olds (2 1/2 year old kids) shouted that a certain little boy had pushed her down. On a different occasions, a different little boy ran into my daughter as if he was playing football and pushed her down. When this was addressed to the staff, they pretended as though they didn't see anything and nothing was done about it. The final draw was when another 2 year old girl tried to beat up my daughter over some play dough. My daughter was playing with the play dough, the other girl wanted the play dough and tried taking it from my daughter. My daughter didn't give the child the play dough so she scratched my child in the eye and left a deep scratch approximately 1 1/2 inch under eye. The staff did nothing except call me to say that she had a little boo boo. I asked how they plan to address the issue with the parents but received no real answer. The director stated that "they're 2 years old, what can you do." They didn't document any of the incidents that happened with my child. The parents of the little girl, didn't make any effort to apologize about what had happened when it fact their child could have caused more damage to my daughter's eye. The child was able to remain at daycare when the incident happened. The director did not try to take corrective actions as far as removing that child from class by talking to her about what she'd done to inform her that her actions were wrong. I asked the director how they planned to handle the situation to try and prevent such incidents from reoccurring to my daughter and other smaller 2 year olds but again her response was "they're 2, what can you do and if you're not happy then, hey." It seems they have all of the 2 years in one room, when in fact, anyone familiar with kids knows that most 2 1/2 years old are bored and will act out when bored, and should be separated from smaller 2 year olds from older 2 year olds. My daughter is fairly petite, she was born 3 months early (preemie). The director insisted on moving my daughter to the 2 year old room to make space in the younger rooms. They are in the business to fill seats to make money.
