All of my pregnancy's have not been difficult! My first child born in 2007 started out with the midwives, but I ended up under Dr. Wiist's care at 23 weeks, he was my Doctor until I reached about 37 weeks. His bedside manner is awesome, I never felt rushed and I always felt like he cared about me, my treatment & my concerns. I had a 2nd pregnancy that turned out to be a blighted ovum, I was with the midwives and was treated appropriately with sensitivity and empathy. Dr. Kim preformed my D&C at the outpatient surgery center at Gwinnett Medical and was great at comforting me and explaining everything. I was then blessed with a twin pregnancy in 2006, I was planning to start out with the midwives again, but due to the complications with my first pregnancy & the fact that there was 2 babies, it was best that I was under the care of Dr. Wiist. I was with him for the several months, then started alternating to meet the other Drs incased one of them delivered me. I ended up needing a C-Section due to a flipped baby.... Dr. Doris did not have great bedside manner in the OFFICE, but was wonderful at the hospital! Answered all my questions so that I could understand, was very patient and caring. Also, I must mention the one thing I really liked about Dr. Herrin... he was the only Dr that ever asked ME how I was doing... instead of just focusing on the babies. It was nice because carrying 2 was very trying at times. I still see them today, I love Vikki, she is kind, funny and makes a not so much fun appointment... better!

This review is for Maternal Gynerations years 2008-2010.
I saw the midwives at MG throughout my pregnancy in 2007-2008. I love Stephanie. I had to go in 3 times for terbutiline shots as I kept going into early labor. I was pregnant with twin girls. I loved seeing the midwives! All 3 emergency trips to the hospital and all calls were returned immediately. The girls were delivered by emergency c-section at 34 weeks. Dr. Doris delivered. I had no complaints other than the post partum room was not good. I blame that on the hospital, not MG.
This pregnancy I am with DR. Hood. A previous poster sid she was able to use the midwives after a bad experience at Northside. To my knowledge as a few other posters, this is false. The midwives will NOT see you if you have had a c-section. I like Dr. Hood a lot. I am now 2o weeks. I have always had my phone calls returned within 5-40min. depending on the severity of call. It does seem like a mad house occasionally, but I have always felt very cared for. Our Downs Syndrome test specialist who did our screening was amazing! I loved her. her name is Robin also. I would love to try a water birth. Dr. Hood is completely supportive for a VBAC and I will ask him about water birth on Feb 10th, my next appt. Ladies, when looking for a OB DR, keep in mind that Gwinnett is a BUSY county and Gwinnett Medical, a busy hospital. Athens regional delivered a boy for me 5 years ago. GREAT experience but a much smaller town. Overall I am pleased with MG and will deliver there again should baby number 8 be in our future:)

I've been seeing my regular GYN at Maternal Gynerations for 4 years and never had any issues. When i found out i was pregnant i also found out that my GYN didn't do the baby delivery so i got stuck with the midwives which i wasn't too comfortable with my first few visits. I've had twins before and this was my 2nd pregnancy and it was off to a rocky start to begin with. I was sick all of the time but was then hospitalized for a few days at 23 weeks with severe pains (mind you i have a pretty high pain tolerance) but they couldn't find anything wrong. After weeks of still being in pain my husband began researching my symptoms and alas we thought we found what was wrong and took our newfound information to disucss with our midwife June (mind you i had seen Jonne and Kim as well). Wow i've never seen such a dismissive medical professional and she wasn't the only one. After that i was switched to Dr. Doris (mind you Dr. Hearin was the one who treated me in the hospital) but it seemed at this point no one wanted to deal with us and it always felt like we were going through a McDonald's drive thru service. Hoping that Dr. Doris would be better - wishful thinking - we never received answers to our questions - he always referred to "the books" instead of his experiences and instead of talking with us he'd always talk at us. I desperately wanted to change practices altogether but i was extremely sick and just hoped that it would get better. Looking back and reading some reviews i should have switched because i did speak with friends and co-workers who delivered weeks before me or a couple of months and the experiences and practices of their medical professionals was much more what i had in mind. I had my twins in NYC and i would think the treatment here would be better but that was not the case. After i deliver i do not plan on returning to this practice and am hopeful to find a GYN who will treat me as a human being and not as fast food! Wait times are horrible and calling there is a joke! Our last visit we were in the waiting area 30min. and another 55 min. in the room in the back waiting for the dr. and we were with him about 4min. As someone in the service business this place needs to re-evaluate. Having a baby while enduring a difficult pregnancy is terrifying when it comes time to delivery because you don't trust the people who's care you are in. It's sad to say i'm prepared for the worst and praying for divine intervention!

I have 3 kids they were all born at different hospitals and had different OB groups attending as well. Although I liked my other docs, Dr Wiist is one of my favorites. He is so gentle natured and is very caring. I have been seeing him for many years for yearly GYN appointments, but went through a miscarriage, successful pregnancy, and delivery with him within the last 2 years. It was a great experience and we appreciate them a ton. I will agree that the wait time when you call can be a very lengthy, and the wait time to actually be seen can be a long time, but this is what happens in busy doctors offices.Obviously alot of people like going to this practice. A lot of times an OB/GYN office does run behind due to the nature of the business, working with women, and the amount of patients that they see. The one thing that they could possibly work on, would be there phone system and the people answering it. However, that does not keep me from returning.

I have been a maternal gynerations patient for just over 4 years and have had some bad and some good experiences. Wait time when I call is quite long. I started out in seeing a doctor when I first found out that I was pregnant (and not trying-newly married though). He scolded me for not trying harder to prevent pregnancy, so I switched to the midwives... wow!! What a difference! They are so wonderful! That pregnancy ended in an emergency c-section after almost 4 hours of pushing a stuck baby. My second pregnancy the midwife told me that I had to be a Dr. patient because of the previous section, however I could attempt a VBAC, and Dr. Wiist worked with me and I had a wonderful pregnancy! Dr. Wiist had also delivered my first child. I unfortunately had a grumpy Dr. to deliver the baby VBAC (Dr. Wiist was not on call that night). It was overall a great delivery though. We are now trying for child number three.

Think twice if you ever have to see Midwife Stephanie. My ultrasound did not show a heartbeat at 7 weeks and she was so quick to tell me to have a DNC. She even wanted to schedule one the following day without exhausting any other possible confirmations that my pregancy was not in danger. I had to call the next day and request bloodwork done and was told by her that patients have to request this. She's supposed to be the medical professional why should I have to make suggestions.
With such a delicate situation, I felt no compassion from her and will never visit this office again!

i am currently using maternal gynerations for my first child. it is one of the worst experiences for me. everytime i call there, i am on hold for at least 15 minutes before someone will even answer the phone. i called to change an appointment, and someone did not perform the neccessary procedures properly and they billed me $25 for not showing up. on top of that, my doctor, dr. herrin, acts like he has an attitude every time he sees me. is not friendly and spends less than 5 minutes in the office with me. my latest call to them, i was on hold for 49 minutes before i hung up. no one ever came to the phone. i am terribly disappointed in their service. they are way to busy for simple people like me!!!

I used Jonne J. Sveum at Maternal Gynerations 9 years ago to deliver my son, Chase. I also use Kristy for my annual check-ups. Let me say that Jonne is an angel disquised as a woman.
I had a terrible experience with my first son's delivery 15 years ago using a practice out of Northside hospital... induced labor for 19 hours with no epidural and then had an emergency c-section. What a nightmare!
For my next child, I knew I didn't want another male obstetrican.
I luckily found Jonne. She encouraged me to do vaginal delivery after my previous c-section even though I was scared. She assured me it would be fine, and it was!!! She was there for me through the entire pregnancy and labor. She truly cares. She is so gentle and so kind. And she is very sensitive to your needs and feelings. She happily ordered an epidural when I was dialated to only 3 so I didn't have to suffer needlessly like my first pregnancy. She wants you and your baby to be HAPPY and healthy and nothing else. She gives you uncomparable care, and I always felt like I was her only patient.
Using Jonne, I didn't suffer from many of the problems I did with my previous pregnancy. I owe it all to her. I never developed hypertension like the first pregnancy. I believe it was because I didn't gain so much weight, only 20 lbs. (my first preg. I gained 60!). Jonne reviews your food intake and ENCOURAGES to eat right and excercise. She never scolds you and she just steers you back in the right direction. She is an amazing person...
I give Jonne the highest possible recommendation and if you live in Gwinnett, I've found there's really no one better.

I've used this group for my yearly check-up for about seven years, so when I got pregnant, I called them immediately. I usually use one of the doctors, but I decided to go with the midwives for my delivery. I liked the idea of them being at the hospital all the time instead of just checking in and then appearing for the delivery.

I was assigned a midwife to be my "main" practioner. Every other visit, however, I saw one of the other midwives so I could meet all of them. My midwife happened to be the one on call the day I went into labor and she spent quite a bit of time in my room even though it was the middle of the night. She delivered my baby with no problems and also took care of my stitches. I won't hesitate to use the same group if I get pregnant again.

My son was delivered by Dr. Hood - and I feel I was pushed into a repeat c-section unnecessarily.. but I am happy with my care overall.

With my most recent pregancy, I saw a different doctor, whom one of the midwives had said would probably consider a VBA2c. He told me immediately he wouldn't, and he and I had a pretty major personality clash, so I requested to change to a different doctor for the remainder of my pregnancy since I was going to have to go th, e c-section route. I was told it's impossible to change doctors within their practice once pregnancy is established, you're stuck with whomever you see on the first apt. I really felt uncomfortable with the thought of the dr I didn't get along with cutting me open, and stated that and was told to just deal with it. My GTT test results were drawn an hour late, despite my reminding them and my apts were running later and later.. it wasn't uncommon to not be called back until 30-45 minutes late, and then sit in the room for 30 full minutes before anyone came in. For all these reasons, I changed doctors at 35 weeks.

From what I understand, the midwives are wonderful, but won't take high risk patients (which you become in their eyes after having a c-section), so I didn't have any real experiences with them. I wasn't impressed with the one I saw at a well checkup.

The Doctors, Midwives and staff are great. I have been very pleased with the prenatal care that is given and the amount of time the Doctors spend with you during the visits. I didn't feel like they were rushing like at other Doctors. They make sure to answer any questions that you may be having.
