WOW! What a great place and tons of fun. My friends and I had a great time. One we will never forget. The drinks we affordable and the bartenders were great to look at especially the little Sean Penn look-alike. Thanks for showing a North Dakotan a great time.

This place is great for college students, and anyone over 30 would definitely feel out of place. The live music is only good when you're too drunk to pay attention, and the drinks are only mediocre, but overall, the company is fun.

This place was a favorite of my fraternity brothers. So, if you want to go hang out with a bunch of Tech frat guys, this is your place. It is your typical scene, nothing special.

Don't get me wrong, I love this place. Still wish this bar the best. My girlfriend and I have been coming here for over 8 years. We have two happily married friends who met here. would still be coming here, and love hanging with the staff outside this venue, but it has forgooten what made Moondogs the destination spot. Just hate it when places sell out. It has more of a corporate feel now. Have been in the industry, and this was always a place for me and my coworkers to go and chill. Girlfriend and I were regulars, and friends with the staff and still are close with them. From the heavy smoke, to the hard core rap music (really, they play hard core rap here now), and the new poker format this place has lost its relaxed late night atmosphere. Long time favorite Turner, has moved on and been replaced as the pit boss for poker. And man has it suffered. What used to be a fun group of players is now replaced by hooligans and loiters. Had a great time with the few faces I recognized but could tell they were frustrated with the seedy element now at the tables. An elderly woman, who the table recognized as a regular bother, kept miss dealing and spilled her drink all over my lap and the cards multiple times. Huge pain to us and the table. Still hang with the old regulars, who now frequent irby ave., and they moved on from what was once a great spot to chill and play cards. What happened to a dress code here? Was once unable to enter with my hat on side ways. Now I find at my table hoods, and sun glasses. Really? It is free poker. We are here to mingle and have a good time. Love the extra poker chip idea they have installed. Miss the old regular players who no longer want to deal with the scum bags that occupy the tables now. Understand their frustration. the smoke level is intolerable here. Quit smoking 4 yrs ago but you would never know that by the odor I keep after leaving this place. My girlfriend and I are now in our late twenties and what used to be a fun spirited dance floor is now filled with gansta rap and she and her friends hate it now. Would rather deal with the crowd at Red Door, 5P then get dragged on to this meat party. Who listens to this ridiculous crap. Not college students, or the regulars. Have a bunch of wanta bs on the stage standing around eyeing all the girls. Cant even get to the bar with these loiters hanging around not even dancing. What is this Bar Atlanta? Worked out so well for that place. Prefer my girl to stay off the dance side and not get rubbed up on by these shady individuals. Miss this place and the staff, but lack of dress code, aided by the frequent riff raff leave me to continue to miss this place. It pains me to give it only three stars, but also it pains me even more with the forgotten chill factor and hangout this was. Table 3 no longer.
Pros: Memories
Cons: Smoke. Smokiest bar ever! Gangst Rap! Really?

My girls and I had a ladies night out last night and Moondogs gave us a night to remember. The bartenders Mac and Andy treated us so well it was like we had known them for years. It isn't every night out that a bartender is nice, funny, and can make a mean drink. Between the two of them we tried out about four different red bull bombs that were better than any jager bomb I'd ever had. Once we were ready we went over to the dance floor and had so much fun our faces hurt from smiling. Can't wait for the next girls night out!
Pros: big drinks, awesome service
Cons: waited too long in bathroom line

I am from a small town in Virginia and compared to our local hangout Moondogs just blew us away! My friend moved to Atlanta about a year ago and is about to get married so all of her friends met in Buckhead to shop and have a Bachelorette party we could never forget! Moondogs is massive! It has two sides we were hanging out at . One was a big main bar where they had a juke box and the other was a dance floor with stage, lights, and even a pole in the corner! We partied and danced like we havn't in years and it was a night we won't forget! Can't wait to come back and visit.
Pros: Music, Dance Floor, Great Shots, Great Bartenders
Cons: ugly looks from jealous girls

These guys run a sweet no limit poker game! Every Tuesday and Thursday they have game running, and if you get there early enough, before the game starts like around 8, you get extra chips for buying drinks that you get to use in the game. Also, if you buy drinks not only do you get free chips but also get free chicken wings. So, let me put this together for you, the poker tournement is free to play, if you're drinking you get extra poker chips and free chicken wings! If you play well and get a little lucky you win Cash for first second and third place, $50, $30, and $20 in cash, not bar cash! The staff is firendly and they pour some big drinks. I'm new to the area and am so glad I found this place! Thanks and I will be back for more!
Pros: free chance at cash in poker game
Cons: paid for parking

Sooooo easy to chill and meet people! My friends and I hang out here every weekend, Dance party is off the hook!
Pros: Dancing & Drinks
Cons: I always have a blast!
Posted 10/05/09
I know it's not real poker....but the tournaments here are great!!!! It's free to play but you can still win $$ if you come in the top three! Andy runs a good show and that Kelbe... Mmmm mmn!!
Pros: Excellent staff!
Cons: ?

This place has rocked for years in the Atlanta scene. Been in the service industry for sometime, and this place delivers the goods. Living in California for the last 2 yrs. and every time I come back I get recognized by the staff and they know my drink. Very few places can keep such great people together. My fiance and I,who I met here, have told friends in LA about Moondogs, and every time they come in town, they had a blast. Besides having a MMA fight on, smoke, and Nickleback playing this place is very consistent. My girls love it, and don't have to deal with the typical goons of East Andrews and posers of Buckhead. You know who you are with your hats on side ways, and Affliction shirts. Grow up, or stay the outside the perimeter. If Moondogs played their cards right and had a stricter dress codes this would be the elite bar scene of Atlanta. From celebrities to famous athletes you never know who you may run into. This bar is a survivor. Buckhead can try and change and pretend, but Moondogs will always remain. Cheers to Moondogs for keeping it real.
Pros: Service, price, space, fantastic staff
Cons: Smoke, Nickleback, and dress codes

Full belly, left satisfied from Chops. Went stumbling up the stairs to Moondogs with my buds and colleges!!! Opened a tab and drank. Had to call my wife and told her about this great bar we had been missing out on. She hung up on me. So I continued to drink and party. Met some great folks, and saw some beautiful ladies... please don't tell my wife. Relaxing, and cutting up with the staff. The big Irish bartender was a blur. Fastest bartender I have seen in all my Forty-plus years. Who knows. Tall ice-cold drink was excellent. Bought him a shot and was surprised he did one with us, so we did another. No fear. That was good. Extensive library of music on the jukebox. Played some Petty, Stones, and Foo. Blared that music and kept on rocking. Would have stayed all night if they didn't ask me to leave. Will be back for poker on Tuesday to check it out, and bring my wife so she can drive me home. But she may end up leaving with the bartender. Luck of the Irish!!!
Pros: Found a place where everyone knows your name!!!
Cons: Was asked to leave!!! BOOOOO!!!

Ive been here a couple times within the past couple years and even though the location and building seem cool this place is not a fun . Im a very easy going fella and must say everytime I have gone here with a couple friends which include a couple hot girls, dudes have tried to start fights out of nowhere. The kids starting these hankie pankie fights as I would call it look like they just stepped out of math class at your old high school. The bouncer one of the times was actually very cool and said after kicking the two sissy boys out that he was really surprised they tried to start a fight with such a big guy as myself, I laughed and said "well, what do ya expect, their just wannabe punks", he laughed and said man your right! He said he was glad to see that I threw one of em across three tables, apparently that kid needed his clock cleaned! Well, hope this helps in your decision but honestly I would go elsewhere say like Fados or and of the East Andrews establishments for a more mature professional crowd. Good luck!
Pros: Good location, cool setup
Cons: Immature high school/college kids, not a professional crowd

Great service!!
Pros: Bartenders,Dancefloor....BIG DRINKS!
Cons: Crowded

I've been been in town for about a year now and luckily through a friend found out about Moondogs. It's a great bar, and l love some poker. Moondogs has the best Texas Holde'm Tournaments in town. It's free to play, if you're drinking you get extra chips for play and get free appetizers, and they pay out cash for 1st, 2cnd, and 3rd place every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The bar tenders are fast and friendly and the value of the drink is excellent. Instead of throw away plastic cups their drinks are served in pint glasses. If you're a beer drinker the pitcher prices are awesome and the variety is pretty good too. I've met a couple hot ladies on the hoppin dance floor where they play all the new hip hop and the oldie but goodies. If you havn't been to this place check it out. You are bound to a great time! Thanks Moondogs!!
Michael
ps, Check out the goldfish cheeseburgers outside the bar, soooo good.
Pros: poker, drink value, great service, hot bartenders, fun dance floor
Cons: a little smokey

I've been to a lot of places in my travels and I'm here to say that this place is the "REAL DEAL"! How great it it to go somewhere that provides such outstanding value and service. Another great thing is that it's not chock full of pretenders and posers like you find @ other places. The staff here couldn't be nicer, especially the Doormen! Always a good crowd with lots to do....2 thumbs up !!
Pros: Great dancing,Pool tables and drinks!
Cons: Crowded
Posted 02/04/09
This might be the most illegit fake 'bar' in Atlanta. They are obviously scamming people just to make money. If you are from the Buckhead area and want to hang out with fun, business like people as myself, AVOID THIS PLACE. It's more of a immature, first time drinker high school party. Everyone seemed to be underage; so, if statutory forced intercourse is on your agenda, indulge, Moondogs will not let you down!!
Pros: Underage Welcome, Bouncers probably losers in high school, any ID acceptable
Cons: Bouncers finally in limelight, so highly conceited
Posted 01/30/09
I went there yesterday, 8 of August, and had really fun time... I cannot forget it forever...cuz...I met a really nice people... and had , unknown shots, vodka shots and ciggarette with awesome beauty.....

From Chicago, and was transfered down here for the summer. Happened to come across this bar from suggestions from a golfing buddy. Went up on a Tuesday and discovered it was a relaxed, comfortable place. They even put on the Cubs game for me. Pool tables were quite nice, and the bar was well kept. Was introduced to the knowledgeable, fun staff that poured me a great drink or three. But who is counting? Played some cards had some bad hands and a good time and felt right at home. Went up that same weekend and the same barkeep already had my drink in hand ready to go. Really enjoyed myself. Met some new faces and friends. Good stuff here in the Atlanta area. Would suggest and recommend this place highly. My home away from home.
Pros: Great drinks and attractive people
Cons: no beer nuts

Moondogs has grown up, and i can not be happier!!! This place has evolved from a college bar into the staple of Buckhead night life. I am now in my late twenties and can honestly say this is the place to be seen in Buckhead. Relaxed atmosphere and great service put Moondogs at the top of my friends and colleges list of bars. Unlike the rest of Buckhead this place has not sold out. From the over zealous, pretentious bores or bars that have taken the city by storm it is great to see this place standing strong. From the great service to the great music this is the place to go. Look for Dallas, Mac and Charlie, they are the heart and soul of this bar. They are well honored and great to look at bartenders. My girls and I have had an ever lasting crush on them. So head up the stairs and grab a drink or a game of pool and mingle with friends and make new ones. Only down side is the smoke.
Pros: the prices and the familiar staff
Cons: smoking

You can't beat it the deal,It's the BEST IN ATLANTA! and We always come
back on the weekend for the dance party scene. Sooo nice to hang out in
a place thats run right! Cheers!
Pros: Always Fun!

I definitely agree with other reviewer's comments on the cleanliness of this place- the floors are sticky, there's toilet paper all over the place in the bathroom, etc. However, it's a very fun place for the demographic that frequents it. It's frat guy central, though there never seem to be quite as many girls in there as guys (a bonus for girls!) They play very dance-able music, the drinks -if you don't have someone offering to buy them- are reasonably priced and relatively strong. There's no cover, and the staff are pleasant as well - over all it's just a very fun, relaxed atmosphere for young college-aged people. Only other drawbacks I can think of : It is extremely smokey; you will definitely encounter at least one incredibly drunk girl being dragged around pathetically by her friends; one of the 2 women's restrooms is actually one room with 2 toilets but no wall in between (kind of strange if your in there with someone you don't know very well!) and the men's room is VERY open- you can see guys standing there peeing as you wait for the women's to open up, and they also have zero toilets in the building for the guys, just a giant metal trough.
Pros: relaxed, fun crowd, no cover
Cons: dirty, smokey, bathrooms leave something to be desired

Love this place. Located right upstairs from Hole in the Wall, Moondogs has a great variety of music, fun people looking to have a great time just like you, and awesome drinks. Good service. Even though its located in buckhead you will feel like its your own special neighborhood place that you've been going to for years. No dress code that I am aware of but the gentlemen should double check. It gets pretty hot from the body heat so ladies dont waste too much time on the hair it will be flat in 5minutes. I recommend a updo thats cute but doesnt require too much fuss. Go out and have a great time!!!
Pros: cost, service, drinks, music, atmosphere, people, FUN!!!
Posted 03/13/08
This is always one of my favorite bars to go to. Always things happening there, plus there is so much room there to move around. Very good prices and if you want to play pool there you can, if you want to dance you can, and if you want to sit down and relax, you can.
Pros: Alot of room and great atmosphere
Posted 11/29/07
Great times for me and my girlfriends. The bartenders are fast and fun to look at. great live music on Thursdays. Best Poker in town. Crowd is a major plus now. Not just a college bar, the best bar in Atlanta. Young and old alike this is the place to be. Great place to mingle and meet new people. Great to be seen. Easy to be a regular, I know all my girlfriends and I have been loving it since we celebrated our 21st there, and every birthday since. Keep it rockin Moondogs.
Pros: Thumbs up, way up
Cons: Smoking

If you attend Georgia Tech, Georgia State, or Emory, you will fit right in at this bar. On Thursday-Saturday nights, the local colleges have this bar packed wall to wall, mostly greek. The bartenders are quick and trained well. I, personally, am a fan of the Long Island Iced Tea, and they make a mean one of those. Pool tables in two rooms separate adjacent rooms allow for you to get away from the noisy bar and have some "one on one" time with your friends. Booths are also located in the rooms so it's not just standing room only. Tables are located next to bar for larger parties to sit down and enjoy a pitcher as well. If you aren't 21, don't even bother trying to get into this bar. The bouncers are extremely strict and are known for confiscating fake ids. Moral - wait until you are legal to party.
Pros: good if you are in the college crowd
Cons: not very personal - gets very packed
Posted 09/17/07
I have been a long time customer of Moondogs for a few years. I just can't help but feel right at home the moment I walk through the door. The bartenders are top notch! I highly recommend this bar to fellow Atlantans as well as out of towners. GREAT BAR!!!!!
Pros: This is just a Great Bar!!
Cons: non
Posted 09/12/07
These guys must have the biggest drinks in town. They run a great poker tounament every Tuesday and Thursday and if you play well and get a little lucky you can win CASH! Friendly staff and good value on drinks I will be back!
Pros: fastest bartenders best drinks
Cons: same as all other high volume college bars
Posted 09/12/07
I have been a regular at moondogs for about five years.I really cant say enough about how fantastic this bar is. I consider it like a second home, the owners and bartenders are very approachable and kind. There are always plenty of hot ladies to meet and fun people to hang out with.I would not rather be at any other bar in Atlanta! I will continue to come here on a regular basis and I advise all others to do the same!
Pros: Good prices on drinks , great atmosphere, great ownership and bartenders
Cons: Mac tries to make out with me all of the time!!!!!!
Posted 09/05/07
This is my absolute favorite bar in Atlanta. Always a happening place to be, especially on the weekends. Bartenders are friendly and speedy and usually remember you the next time you come in which always makes me want to return to bar. Great atmosphere, great bartenders, great music, and good looking women, I mean what more can you ask for?
Pros: Bartenders, Music, Poker, Pool tables, Darts, and the Women!!!!!!!
Cons: Your mom

Really great people! ...........My favorite bar by far! Nice big drinks and
Dallas and Turner rock ! We love the new pool tables, You'll be seeing us
every weekend! Why go anywhere else!
Pros: New pool tables,Dance floor ,No cover,Value for the dollar!
Cons: Crowded
Posted 09/04/07
This place is always packed with people, in a good way. The drinks flow dangerously close to freely, and the game is usually on. This is a great place to kick back, shoot a couple games of pool and just take in the craziness of nightlife...on a WEEKDAY!
Posted 03/12/07
Sure, it's a frat bar. If you want to go and get picked up by guys who would have one night stands with anything that has hole then this is the place for you. I think the drinks are affodable for these sorry guys to have a chance to buy girls drinks to get them drunk and all for a a "fun" night. But that's not what the problem is here nor what I am here to warn you about. Beware to get punched in the face by crazy ex-girlfriend of the the frat guy hitting on you. Just not worth it when there are hundreds of other places in Atlanta that are just as fun and just a bit more mature.... I dont know about you but I go out to bars at night because I am over hanging out at house parties with guys and girls that can't handle their alcohol. Have fun!
Posted 01/09/07
This is a popular bar for college kids. Its definitely a frat bar. So if that's what you like, its a great place to be. The drinks are affordable. You can either dance, hang at the bar, or play a game of pool. Plus, there's no cover! It's a fun place.
Pros: No cover, cheap drinks, multiple things to do
Cons: Lots of smoke
Posted 11/18/06
This place was a blast. I went for my friend's 21st birthday and it was full - but not so many ppl you couldn't move. They had great music, lots of people were dancing. The bartender was good, decent drink prices. We just had a great time drinking, dancing, and hanging out w/all our friends.
Posted 10/19/06
Great drink prices, fast friendly service, 4 different bars in one location! Need I say more?
MOONDOGS has the very best bartenders and a great crowd. We just spent the weekend in Atlanta and spent most of our time at MOONDOGS its like our home away from home! MOONDOGS gives such an opportunity for variety, in one room you can catch up on the scores for the ongoing games with several plasma tv's all showing a different game, in the groove lounge you can sit and chill for a bit till your ready to move to the next room where you can dance to the newest booty music!
If you haven't been you must go check out MOONDOGS!
Pros: Fast Friendly Service!
Cons: none
Posted 09/25/06
my friends and I always end up here on a friday night and we love it. from the atmosphere to the cheap drinks and friendly bartenders you can't go wrong. it's a good mix of a college bar and a dance club. and when it closes you stumble down to hole in the wall.
Pros: great service, cheap drinks
Posted 03/04/06
If you're from out of state and the bartenders remember you AND your drink, you've just found the greatest place to party the night away. I've met tons of friendly and fun people there that I'll never forget. The service is very quick, the bartenders are all hot, and the crowd is sure to make you have a good time. Definitely a spot to check out if your in Buckhead. I've never missed a trip to Moondogs while in the state of Georgia. Absolutely a home away from home.
Pros: Variety of people, The jute box, Fast/friendly service
Cons: Parking, Small bathrooms

Big fan of moondogs all over the country but this one stands out... Several different bars, each with their own specials and friendly staff. If you're looking to meet people in their early twenties this is the place to go.
Pros: Value, Women, Dancing/Spectating

I love Moondogs. It's a total dive in the coolest possible sense of the word. They play rockin' 80s tunes and the crowd is completely rad! Great drinks, great service, great crowd. You gotta come check it out.
Pros: Great Crowd!, Drink deals, Service
Cons: , Raucus at times

Always a good time. The music is great and the dance floor always full. A little of "the old flavor Buckhead" still shines.
Posted 02/13/04
The best Long Island Ice Teas in town. Hot women, cool people, fast service.
Posted 09/21/03
Strategically placed between Athens and Hole in the Wall. Great place to grab a good book, a hot cup of coffee and 10 or 11 Jager Bombs.
Posted 05/28/03
I like moondogs personally, It's usually the bar that we end up at after we have been out on the town. Great place to finish the night out with.

I am from out of town and I hit up Buckhead when I was in ATL. I had a blast at moondogs and met a lovely girl of whom I am still with. This bar I recomend coming with friends if you are from out of town becasue it tends to be a large Frat hang out, but if you know people it can be a blast. Everyone I talk to who has visited ATL has been to Moondogies!
Pros: hot girls, nice atmosphere, lots of people
Cons: too many frat guys, Buckhead parking, small bathroom
Posted 10/29/02
Moondogs is no frills, but if you want a bar with pool, darts and quick service. You will get what you are looking for. The crowd is energetic and relaxed. The only problem with Moondogs is the crowd is very young.
Pros: Inexpensive, Pool, Darts
Posted 10/02/02
The atmosphere is laid back and you can feel at ease here. The drinks are great and the mood isn't too frenzied.
Posted 08/22/02
This is the greatest bar Atlanta has to offer. Plenty of parking, cheap drinks, hot young ladies, and friendly bartenders - what more do you need? You can't beat the $4 pitchers of Natty Light. What a fine pilsner product. If you strike out at The Dog, just stumble down to Hole in the Wall, and if you have a pulse, you WILL hook up.
