Glad this place is going out of business. Kathi was nice until she got your business then she was horrible. Went in for a bridesmaid dress and 1. she told me the dress would be clingy and to order a couple sizes up which I did and of course it was extra to do that. I went in to get the swatch and pay for my dress in full and it was a young lady in there. Kathi tells me she is closing to take care of her "elderly mother" but releases a release that its because of the economy. Then my dress is MIA so I call the manufacturer and they tell me they have my dress it was sent back because Kathi did not pay as they always send COD. She gets my dress and says I have a balance which I disputed and she got rude. A portion of my home flooded so I did not have a receipt so I said ok well let me talk to the girl and see where my money she refused. I said ok well what is her name so I can make a police report she wouldnt even return my phone calls or emails. The bride has been calling her, my mom who and niece who were there and know I paid her has been willing to give a statement to the police and anyone else and she is running scared. She is a ripoff and she knows it because if she knew there was a balance then why not return my phone calls? She then emailed the bride, who she has never met and said the dress fit perfectly and I have a balance which how would she know how the dress fits because she would never come downstairs to face me. My mom was in the dressing room with me and I never stepped outside the dressing room in the dress. Kathi is a big liar and scam artist and I hope everyone she has ever ripped off comes back for her.

Bought my wedding dress at Gingerbread House Bridal, and have had a great rapport with both Kathy (owner) and Jennifer. They took the time to give me their elicited opinions when I asked, and I considered them both friends. Enter the seamstress: I was assured by the shop that she was the best (can't remember her name, starts with an "M") and that I would be thrilled with her work. I needed very little done to the gown- just a bustle and the shoulders taken up a bit. When the gown came back, it was as if nothing had been done to the shoulder straps; they were still falling off, and the dress was gaping at the chest). I asked if the seamstress could take the shoulder straps up more, and she was called. To her credit, she came right over and pinned my straps to take them up. She said she feared that if we took them up too much, the arm holes would cut into my underarms. We agreed on a happy medium, and I left. A week later and just days before my wedding, I came to pick up my dress and was not even offered to try it on since alterations had been made. At my request, I was allowed to try it on and discovered that the arm holes were so tight, it felt like it was cutting off my circulation. This was NOT how it felt when the seamstress pinned it. I was told by Jennifer that there was really "nothing that we can do," and I left. After careful thought- and much frustration that the alterations were not what we agreed on- I called Cathy (owner); she agreed to let me bring the dress back in to see what could be done, but told me that I didn't like the straps falling off, and I don't like it this way either, with the arm holes cutting into me. Basically, it was one or the other. Can you imagine?? The day before my wedding, I went back to the shop with my dress to meet the seamstress. She told me that she'd tried to warn me that this would happen if she took the straps up (as if I would so, "No, go ahead and make it cut into my underarms; I know more about alterations than you..."). She said she would just take out what she had done before. I asked her why she couldn't take it up the amount she had when she pinned it, and she told me that things will always feel different when they're pinned and when the job is actually completed. If she recognizes this, should she not allow for that? After she told me that I would have to pay for her sloppy work, I took my gown and left. It's a shame: I'd had a great experience with Gingerbread House Bridal until this point, when there was an issue. Watch out!

Both Mary-Christian and Kathy were very professional and understanding towards my first ever day of wedding dress shopping. If you are as nervous as I was in hoping to find the "perfect" dress then this is the place to go. You will in fact find the exact opposite at Bella Mia so make sure Gingerbread Bridal is the first place you go. They will set the standard for how service is supposed to be and are incredibly patient because I had to go back multiple times before I actually made my final decision.

Shopping for wedding dresses was a real pain until we stumbled upon the Gingerbread House Bridal shop. The staff is knowledgable about everything wedding related, and had great advice to give me about anything from my dress to venues. They're experts on etiquette and made sure I would not make a faux pas. Once I had described what I was looking for they pulled several perfect gowns. Imagine, someone listening to you! I even tried a few that I would never choose myself but looked amazing on. Once I ordered my dress they were in constant contact about shipping, and every time something arrived they called. They even stayed on top of my bridesmaid and tux ordering to make sure everyone's measurements were in on time. Thanks, ladies at the Gingerbread House for an AMAZING wedding experience! It is the ONLY place to go in Savannah.

The good, Mary Christain was a great help. She knows the business of Weddings and at the same time has an incredible sincere friendly personality , which was the GOOD in the shopping experience.
The Bad, the store Manager was ALL business, Can give the customer a good deal on a dress, however, it feels like : give me your money, now please leave! Unless you are handing her money, don't waste her time kind of feeling. That's BAD.
The UGLY, when it comes to needing Alterations. The lady that came in on Friday to do the fitting, first we were rushed through it, and worse than the way we were treated: the items on the Bridal dress that were to be fixed WERE NOT DONE, and for the really UGLY part of it, we were WAY WAY WAY OVER CHARGED for alterations!!! Just ugly experience at that point. Thank goodness for Mary Christain in the store, The GOOD in the experience.

The gingerbread House down town has been around forever. Everyone in my high school went there for their prom dresses. They also have very beautiful wedding dresses. Prices are reasonable for formal wear and staff is always helpful.
