PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW: DISREGARD LAST REVIEW
by Monique C.
Jimmy and his employees are VERY competent and furthermore Jimmy is a very fair, trustworthy, honest and personable person. You cannot please everyone and the last review proves that (by the way what condition and how old was the car in question?). Anyway, I have been bringing my cars to Jimmy since 2000 and have NEVER had a problem. My most recent GREAT experience was just this past weekend. My 1999 Honda was sitting for six months, due to Ed Voyles Honda telling me I needed a new transmission ($3000), I decided to have it towed to Jimmy for him to check it just incase and to see if I could get a better price. After checking the car Jimmy said all I needed was a CV axle not a transmission, a $260 total job. Now if that is not competent I don't know what is. I am driving my Honda today. I really hate that one review could Jimmys good reputation and I will not let that happen. Don't take my word for it, the next time you need a repair try him I'm absolutely sure you will not be disappointed.

My husband took his car in because it wouldnt start. $330 later, they said it was a bad ignition switch. the very same day, for the exact same problem, the car broke down. we had to walk home and my husband had to miss work to get it fixed, again. this time it was just a piece of plastic that had fallen in the gear shift. that was it! $330 bucks to remove a piece of plastic!! they removed the plastic and the car works fine now. They gave us no refund on the ignition switch. they said they did their diagnostic, which was turning the key harder!! (that 'diagnostic' was $90), and that started the car so it had to be the ignition switch. that is ridiculous! sometimes the car would start that way for us, too. they also left a hose unattached under the hood. my husband pointed it out and asked if it wasnt supposed to attach to anything. the mechanic so 'no'. but then my husband pointed out a spot and said, 'what about there?' and the mechanic said, "oh ya, i guess it goes there." and re-attached it. im sure we would have been coming in again. Very incompetent.

Mechanics work on commission!!!
by brandon w.
Took my truck into Cobb Galleria Automative two weeks ago for a complete inspection. They charged me $380 for an oil change, transmission flush, clean the rear brakes, and balance & rotate tires. I had initially expressed concern that the truck had an extreme vibration to which they simply rotated the tires and called it a day. This is not my regular vehicle so it was a week later that I finally hit the interstate heading to the beach. Got just past Newnan and the temperature gauge shot up to HOT. Was fortunate enough to quickly exit and find a service station where I sat for 6 hours getting a new fan clutch and radiator. Also found the water pump leaking along with transmission fluid and engine oil. The service station in Newnan got us put back together and I was more determined at this point to continue the drive. About an hour down the road the whole bottom literally fell out - transmission and drive shaft.
Long story short my truck sits in Auburn and I made it back to Atlanta where I call Cobb Automotive as soon as I get the cause of the problem from the Auburn service station. Jimmy, from Cobb Auto, hears me out and offers this as his stance..."well, i sure do wish we had caught the problem so you could have spent your money here and saved you some headache. My mechanics would have sold you what was needed since they WORK ON COMMISSION. A lot of times they'll write stuff up for a vehicle that's not needed...i take that back, write stuff up that's marginal. I then have to go back and make sure the vehicle really needs the work done."
My issue turned out to be a U-joint which was causing the truck to vibrate like it was and basically created a domino affect. I've now been told this should have been caught by any mechanic, and if you ask me especially one that rewards there mechanics for coming up with innovative ways to sell parts/labor. So, not only are they incompetent, but given the current state of the mechanics finances they may also sell you a bill of goods. I'm no mechanic, and probably couldn't even change oil, but I've learned a lot from this experience...YOU CAN'T TRUST COBB GALLERIA AUTOMOTIVE IF THEIR "MECHANICS ARE PAID COMMISSION" FOR WORKING ON YOUR VEHICLE!

I've come to appreciate the service and straight-shooting advice given by the gentlemen at Cobb Galleria Automotive. The service is quick and efficient, and the waiting room is much more pleasant than most chain oil change places. They've given me good advice, and I'll continue to patronize them.
