Your search is over!
by Schan I.
The same vet that saved our German Shepherd from parvo approximately 15 years ago is still there and caring for our 2 boxers! Our girls are also boarded at their Pampered Pets facility connected by a hallway. The girls that run Pampered Pets are there because they love the pets and wouldn't be anywhere else...you can just tell! I LOVE having all of my pets needs taken care of under one roof! Dr. Riddick couldn't be more personable and vested in her clients either! I just can't say enough good things about this place! Give them a shot, you will very quickly see that the emphasis is on your pet!

The Greatest Place for Your Pet!
by Kristne M.
I don't know what I'd do without Benning Animal Hospital! If you want a safe, fun and and happy environment for your pet, this is where you want to be. My puppy goes almost every day and is spoiled rotten. I recommend them to everyone.

Military Family loves BAH
by DJ W.
Benning Animal Hospital was recommended by our neighbor when we moved to Columbus in 2007. Since then, our 10 year old Labrador Retriever has received the best possible care from doctors and staff that seem to love her almost as much as we do.
When she developed a skin irritation from a topical flea & tick prevention medicine last summer, Doctors Harris and Riddick researched the problem and worked with Oakley almost daily for 6 months. We believe that their excellent care and ability to provide laser therapy kept our precious girl from having permanent hair loss and scarring.
Pampered Pets Boarding is Oakley's home-away-from-home. The staff gives her a loving and safe place to visit when we need to leave her for a few hours or a few days. We know that she loves her time there because she is happy and excited to see the staff whenever we take her there. When we have to leave her overnight, she has a private room and we are allowed to bring her own bed, blanket, toys and treats.
In a few weeks, we are being transferred to the Atlanta area but we will not be looking for another Vet. It will be well worth the drive to continue to bring Oakley to Benning Animal Hospital for her annual exams and for boarding.

Dr. Riddick is amazing
by Peggi W.
Our chihuahua 'Itty-Bit' had a double hernia that needed surgery. Dr. Riddick was so sweet with her, she knew right away what all needed to be done, she explained every part of the procedure ahead of time, and she even gave her something to calm her down and let us stay and love her until she was comfortable (to make seperation easier) before surgery. When we left our baby right before the surgery, she was comfortable and at ease, which made it much easier on our family. When we picked her up the next morning, she was happy to see us, and she didn't act distressed over the situation. She has never been boarded, so this was a very tense time for us, but Dr. Riddick calmed our anxieties as much as Itty-Bit's. Her care and concern go beyond the pet. A couple of months later we were back with our other chihuahua 'Tigger' with some unusual knots on her stomach that Dr. Riddick said had the appearance of a particular type of mammory tumor, but before we could even get concerned about the possibility of tumors, she said "I just want to get a better look at this, is it ok if I take a little fluid out of them and look at it under the microscope before we do anything else?" Before she jumped into an expensive surgery, she drew fluid, looked at it herself, and sent it to a lab to double check her own findings, and they were not tumors. There was nothing to worry about, and she calmed my nerves before I even had a chance to get upset. She gave me the option to remove the knots if I wanted to, but it wasn't necessary, just cosmetic. She loves her 'people' clients, as well as, her 'pet' clients. Anyone who meets Dr. Riddick can tell how much she loves animals. It is quite obvious that veterinarian medicine is not her job, it is her life.

I Love Dr. Riddick She is Wonderful!
by Ruth R.
If you are looking for a great veterinarian (Auburn Grad) you will find Dr. Riddick to be highly skilled and one who cares about the pets and their owners. I visited the 24 hour Emergency Center where she worked several times and she provided both boarding for my little dog "Baron" as well as medical services at the Clay-Chalkville Veterinary Center. We were all sorry to have her move to Georgia to practice at the Benning Animal Hospital. My dauchshund received the best service I believe possible from Dr. Riddick. Georgia is lucky to have such a skilled veterinarian.

Hi!
I'm one of the new owners of Benning Animal Hospital, as profiled on NBC's 'Rise and Shine' last week. Dr. Keri Riddick is new to our staff from birmingham, where she is recognized for her expertise in emergency medicine, small animal practice, and exotics such as pot-bellied pigs and goats.
I'd like to respond to a couple of the posts here with our new changes to the clinic. Even though Benning Animal hospital has been a part of Columbus since 1950, we are becoming better all the time!
Alma and Amy- Dr. Reed, now known as Dr Harris, is still with us and will be for at least 5 more years (retirement). We don't provide livestock or "large animal" services other than large dogs or pot-bellied pigs, but focus on small animals, pocket pets, and exotics such as reptiles. Your comments are right on regarding livestock, which is why we no longer practice in that area. Dr. Riddick, our new vet, has been highly praised for her emergency work, and we hope you'll give her a chance! We have changed pricing to provide more affordable healthcare, but still quality services for our clients and their animal companions.
Kelly - Thank you for the review. If you really liked Dr. Harris as you post suggests, could you change your rating from 1 * to 4 or 5?
If you have any other concerns, I'd love to speak with you at 706-689-6240.
-Don Riddick

I HAVE 3 DOGS AND 1 CAT AND I HAVE LOOKED FOR A VET WHERE MY ANIMALS ARE HAPPY AND FEEL RIGHT AT HOME, THIS IS THE PLACE. DR HARRIS AND DR LEFRANC AND THEIR STAFF ARE WONDERFUL. THEY WORK LONG HOURS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY PET IN THAT HOSPITAL IS TAKING CARE OF. THEY ARE ALWAYS SO HAPPY TO SEE THEIR CLIENTS AND THEIR PETS. THE VET TECHS ARE ALWAYS BABY TALKING THE PETS AND THE ANIMALS LOVE IT. THE KENNEL STAFF MAKE THE ANIMALS FEEL RIGHT AT HOME. THEY ARE ALL AROUND GREAT PEOPLE. THE CARE THEY GIVE IS WORLD CLASS. IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE FINDING A VET GIVE THIS HOSPITAL A TRY, YOU WILL CONTINUE TO GO BACK FOR MANY YEARS TO COME.

Good For Larger Animals

This is a good place to recieve care for large animals and livestock. Dr. Reed is kind and caring, but her staff is lacking in this area. Although they are proficient in treatment knowledge, there is a lack of communication between the back and the front personel. I wouldn't reccomend using this vet in an emergency situation, and the prices can run on the high side.

Non-emergency treatment

I used this vet for many years, and under normal circumstances they are pretty good. But one time during an emergency, I could not get them to help, even after about eight years of taking my pets to them. I have since changed vets, but if it is not an emergency situation then you can take your pets to them. They specialize in large animals.
