I hesitate to write a negative review as, being a small business owner myself, I am sensitive to the impact of public opinion. I am writing this with the hope that the owners will read it and consider my concern.

I have been to Nazzaro's twice, the first time about two months ago, just me and my guest, and last night with a large party of 11. My first experience was disappointing, especially considering the build up the server gave my selection. But, I am unfailingly optimistic and am usually willing to give a second chance.

I purposely chose a simple dish this time (Chicken Marsala) assuming that, since it required basic ingredients and preparation, I would be happy with the execution and it would be full of flavor. Unfortunately, my assumption wasn't correct.

The chicken was completely flavorless. It tasted to me that either the breast had been poached in water or had been steamed. It certainly hadn't been sauteed and had no seasoning whatsoever. The sauce was the only component that provided a modicum of flavor and even here I am being generous.

There was small side of pasta and marinara which tasted as if someone had simply spooned on a dollop of tomato paste straight from the can.

I questioned each of my guests separately about their individual selections and it seems that major complaint was the flavorlessness of the food.

My business affords me the opportunity of a fair amount of international travel and I find myself in Italy several times a year. I am a little unforgiving when it comes to dining in Italian restaurants in the US as I know what it takes to make a good Italian meal.

The secret of really good Italian cooking is its basic simplicity - fresh ingredients and attention to preparation.

Dining on this island is tricky and when you find a good place to eat its best to stick with it.

When expressing a negative opinion I always find it is good form to end with something positive.

The restaurant itself is quaint and does have a nice atmosphere. The hostess was cheery, cute and well, to be honest, completely adorable.

The staff easily accommodated our reservation for a large group and, as this was to be for a birthday party, they sprinkled the tablecloth with colorful confetti.

Nazzaro's has plenty of potential and I hope that, in the future, I am able to write a rave review.

This is nice Italian cuisine, small and privately owned. As a party of 12, we had great service and our food was prompt. Recommended especially if you're looking for a different place to go than the typical Italian restaurant.
