Even though it was a busy time of year for them, they took us in within 2 days and fixed my Neon that same morning. I was expecting to pay a couple of thousand dollars, but they told me that I had a leak in a line and they replaced the line and it was only $75! They could've tried to rip me off but they were straight to the point and completely honest! My car runs great now! We even tried to tip them but they wouldn't accept it. So now we're referring like crazy. :)
Tranmission problems? Call Joe at United. i've done business there 2 times. 1st time he gave an accurate estimate and expert assessment. very happy with the quality of customer service and repair. next time, my transmission was fine, just a much less expensive axle issue and he did not rip me off as so many repair shops unfortunately do. highly recommended.
PROS: honest. expert repairs. fair price. did i mention honest?!
CONS: none
They rebuilt my transmission in 2001 (did a great job - and I checked out A LOT of shops before using them) and last week I took my car to my "regular" shop for an oil leak repair. My "regular" shop messed up my transmission and United fixed their mistake - and didn't even charge me!!!! I will NEVER use anyone else for transmission work. Joe (the owner) is honest, fair and friendly. They're just the best transmission shop in the world!! There is no reason to even consider taking your transmission work any place else.
PROS:
CONS: None
Alan Polson (owner) is a con artist. He will quote you one price as an estimate. Then call you days later with a much higher one. He quoted me $998 just to call 5 days later with $5800. Then informed me when I said absolutely no that he had torn my transmission apart, thrown away the gaskets and now expected me to pay him an additional $400 for the parts he tossed out. Im out of pocket over $1000 and my car is in worse shape than when I took it to him. He also charged my credit card the $998 immediately and is trying to hold my car hostage for an additional sum over $1000 in cash. All for a car he has now ruined!!!
Beware. Check out Ripoff Report. He has done this to multiple people, unfortunately I found out to late. Dont let the same happen to you.
Pros: None. You'll get ripped off
Cons: you will be scammed
This was the worst experience I've ever had. I read reviews on here and that's why i went to united, but they must have written them themselves. Joe was extremely sexist and refused to even talk to me about anything happening with my car, he would ONLY talk to my husband. What year are we living in again!? I was quoted more than double the price of other shops after my car was there over a week. When we decided to pass and take our some where else he lowered the price to what was more acceptable. The repairs took longer than we were told and the customer service was lacking to say the least. It's also very hard to find and the shop is a dirty wreck.
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
First of all, TRANSMISSIONS are expensive, so prepare yourself.
United has been there for YEARS and YEARS, and have consistently given great, dependable service.
If they tell you something, that's the way it is. GREAT FOLKs, GREAT SERVICE, DEPENDABLE.

Cons: Difficult to "drive" in to their store. It's down the street, and behind
