Once a year for 10 years we've eaten at Einstein's for brunch, usually The Veranda Platter. In the last couple of years, though, service has slowed to a crawl.

After we were seated this last time, it took nearly 40 minutes to get what amounts to bacon, scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes. It was good, not great, and didn't warrant the wait.

Not every table was occupied. They hadn't just opened. There were none of the obvious and acceptable excuses.

It isn't just this year, either. It's gotten progressively worse. So for next year, we're shopping for a new Midtown brunch...any suggestions?

Pros: Patio dining

This is one of my newest favorite locations to wine & dine with da fellas. I've visited this location several times over the past months & each time it gets better. Definitely, recommend this location for lunch and/or dinner during the weekday or the weekends.

Pros: Great Staff, Live Music, Patio, Varity of Seating Areas

We live in the neighborhood and always try to come back to Einstein's to give it another chance. The service is conistently poor. The kitchen rarely gets an order correct and the management could care less. I ordered a plain turkey burger and asked for it plain twice. It came out with cheese and onion spread. I sent it back and it came back uncooked and when I cut into it there was a piece of white plastic in the meat. The waiter took it off the bill, but could have cared less. Sorry, but that was the last time we will be in. You just lost ten loyal customers. With so many new attractive patios in the neighborhood Einstein's really needs to get their act together!

This is a great place to come and relax and have a good time. It's very "family" oriented which I like alot as well. You don't find to many places that are still around.

We went in here for a work lunch and the food was out in 10 minutes! The patio was amazing. The fresh air and openness was awesome. Food was so good, I came back on the weekend for brunch (Bloody Mary Bar!). I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Staff was very attentive, from the hosts up to the managers. Best restaurant in Midtown!

The food here is so so. It's not over the top but not bad either--upscale bar food best decribes it. The Saturday and Sunday brunch is good on nice days when the patio is open. It's more about the atmosphere than the food. It's mostly a gay crowd with a lot of table hopping and visiting. If you have a problem with the gay lifestyle you will hate this place. The bar at nights is a good place to start the evening, but it's not a late night place. Service is hot and cold. At times I have found it to be excellent, at other times its horrible. We go here for the patio atmosphere and a drink with friends.

Good food and nice atmosphere. There are two sections--one casual and one more classy. The food is consistent and the service is good. Einsteins' has been around for quite a while and for a reason---it's reliable.

They really keep things moving smoothly here to handle the lunch rush--great place for a business lunch. Salads were nice and fresh; can't speak for the other dishes.

A group of my friends use to go to Einsteins weekly and we will NOT return. The NEW General Manager has NO clue how to run a restaurant. We sat on the patio for brunch on a Saturday and we watch the General Manager walk back and forth and back and forth with OUT talking to any of his guests to see how their experience was..The service was slow and RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! I have heard that business as gone down for Einsteins do to the constrution in the area. I hope that the owners of Einsteins read this review and do something about their staff. Einsteins use to be a GREAT FUN place to dine out and have drinks but with that Manager and staff, they will fail....

Its trendy, and the bar is excellent. The food can be pricey, and not worth it at that. Good late night hangout.

Don't heed the Citysearch warning about not ordering the "serious entrees"! I went here with a big group of friends this past weekend, and we each ordered an entree dish (nobody ordered burgers, sandwiches, etc.). Those who ordered the ribeye loved it - marinated and cooked to perfection; the special of the day (surf & turf) was fantastic as well. Seafood dishes were delicious, including the coconut shrimp and the tequila shrimp. Everything on the menu looks great though, so I wouldn't mind going back to try the burgers. Great wine and beer selection, as well as specialty drinks and martinis. I love the patio, but the construction directly across the street is a bit of a bummer. Service was wonderful and entertaining, ambiance is great as well. Only complaint is that the food was a bit expensive for what it was (entrees range from $14-22). I paid $50 (including tip) for my entree, 2 glasses of wine, and a dessert.

I haven't eaten there in awhile (due to bad experiences in the past), so maybe things have changed...The food is pretty good at this place, but that's only if you get past the extremely pretentious hosts. Your best bet is to go when there is no wait. Contrary to what you are told over the phone, they do NOT honor call-ahead seating or reservations.

I must say in all of my visits to see my Brother, which lives across the street from Einstein's, I have never had a bad experience. The food depending on what you order is terrific. It?s a place you can go and feel as if you are in a European city. The architecture that has transformed this side walk cafe into one of Atlanta?s most beautiful restaurant?s is very uplifting and a place I could sit half of day and absorb the atmosphere. Every time I walk in the door, from the managers on down this is a wonderful dining experience. There?s always much more food on your plate than you can eat and it?s never prepared anything but perfect for me. If you?ve never been to Einstein?s, you have to try it. If you do you?ll make a return visit guaranteed.

This place has a so so Brunch. The menu is over priced. We went today early to get ahead of the crowd at 10 AM and did reservations. They open at 10 AM on Sunday. The place was empty. The reason is that alcohol is not served until after noon. That means you can avoid all the drunks by going before noon. We had a good server but the coffee was not hot or fresh. The orange juice was very pulpy and sour. We did in fact tell the manager when they came to the table to check on our visit. They seem to be interested and apologized. The food came out fast enough which was like ten minutes. It was luke warm but not hot. The biscuits were cold like they had been made the day before so that was not good. I was not impressed. I like the parent company who has several local places in the area but really this place is not great. It is run of the mill and really has lost the edge. The staff seems alright and the hostes was nice. The place is just not energetic and the staff seems stuck in a funk. I really do not care to go here anytime soon. If I have anyone in for the warmer months then maybe go for drinks on the patio but not the food. The patio is still very nice but that is not going to make the food better. Sorry but this place has really died. They need to be pumped up and get the staff on the move to be more on top of fast and hot food and drinks. Waffle House is better than this place and nicer staff that is very fast and hot coffee.

This is a great local hangout. They have a wonderful atmosphere both indoors and outdoors. They have outdoor seating year round. In the winter they use heaters so you are comfortable. The menu is eclectic and they have great hamburgers.

We are from NYC, and yes we love Sunday Brunch. We thought this would be a good spot, for an early Fall Day! Boy, we were wrong. We were rushed to the bar, to wait for a table? There were plenty available on the patio? I guess this is their ploy, to make you buy a drink. The bar area was a complete unorgainzed mess. And the attitude of the bartender, well that's another story. I had to remind the hostess twice, we were still waiting. Finally we were seated. And two waiters were fighting over who is suppose to wait on us. It didn't really matter, because the poor soul knew nothing about the menu. Egg dishes arrived cold. Needless to say, this place is a zoo. Come to find out it's owned by Metrotainment, and they have several other locations. If this is a sampling, no thanks from two New Yorkers!

The restaurant was pretty crowded, but we were seated immediately with our reservations. I wasn't crazy about the 2 person booth by the bar, but it was in an out of the way corner and was "cozy" and not too bad. The times I've been to Einsteins in the past the service has been slow. Tonight was an exception. Our server was very attentive. We got the Artichoke & Parmesan dip with tortilla chips as an appetizer. It was served fresh and warm. My dining companion had the Ribeye, which he described as "good." I had the Pecan Chicken Salad with orange balsamic dressing, which was excellent. It was the best salad I've had in some time. The blend of cranberries, oranges, spring mix, and other ingredients worked well together. There was a very diverse crowd including theater goers and neighbors. It seems like a fun place to hang out on a weeknight.

I don't know why 14th Street Playhouse recommended this restuarant.

I had the parmesan encrusted trout with a veggie risotto. The risotto was a bit sour and clearly old. My partner had the Ribeye with parmesan potatoes and onion rings. The onions and the potatoes had been fried and were way too crispy to enjoy--the only flavor either had was grease.

The service didn't help things. The waiters seemed far too busy to help. I had to ask to have our drinks refilled. And it simply took way too long to get our food. We arrived 2 hours before our show at the Playhouse next door. But the service was so slow that we didn't have time to send our meals back, so we stomached what we could and went on to our show. We even had to wait 15 minutes to get our checks!

If you want to eat before the show, this is NOT the place to go.

Don't let the fancy dishes on the menu distract you. Go for the "Einstein Grill" sandwich for your culinary nirvana. It's easily the best sandwich I've ever had. The brunch is nice but expensive. The bar is a nice place to hang out while you wait for a table. Don't sit outside unless you feel like breathing the exhaust from the traffic.

I had brunch here on Saturday during peak time and was seated quickly and did not wait long for the food. I had the French Toast that was amazing. The muffins that they give while you wait were so yummy! I usually avoid all of the complimentary rolls or muffins at restaurants but these muffins were definately worth it.

I live in the neighborhood and have been for lunch, dinner and brunch, and each time the food was tasteless and the service was largely sub-par.

For my dinner a couple of months ago, I started off with a beer battered shrimp cocktail--the shrimp was only partially thawed when it arrived at my table and the cocktail sauce was a poor mix of A1, ketchup and not very fresh horseraddish. The main course was grilled salmon atop rice and fried wantons. It was mediocre--the wontons were over fried, and the salmon, like the shrimp, was undercooked. I returned it and once I received a salmon that was prepared "correctly," found it to be entirely too spicy. Rather than attempt to catch our server, who seemed more interested in reading on the veranda than in taking care of his guests, I settled on smothering the thing in ketchup. Yep, I actually did this!

As for BRUNCH: I waited an hour and a half for a table, only to be placed in a small table behind the bathrooms. There, I received awful service, again, waiting forever to be greeted and served my first round of drinks. Then, I had a cold omlette and a mimosa that still had OJ pulp caked to the glass from a previous use.

I WILL NOT RETURN.

Overall:
Service-- wretched
Food-- NOT very fresh

Should have left after someone ushered us out door of the inside restaurant so that we could wait for the host who is outside to find us a table either inside or outside. We, of course, expected to wait for a host to seat us but since there is no signage whatsoever to indicate that the host outside was seating people for both indoor and outdoor dining, we were understandably confused. There appeared to be only one person seating people at the lunchtime peak and when another person came out to help he said he would see if he could locate us a table inside. The place was half empty inside. What gives? I just sensed an attitude that didn't seem too customer friendly. Like I said, we should have left then and there. OK, so now to the food. Ordered the calamari. Yes, lightly fried but absolutely tasteless. My cobb salad was about average; some creativity would have been helpful, but my hubby's fish sandwich was nicely done. So there. I think we're going to keep this place in mind as a watering hole. Definately not for food!

I absolutely love this retaurant. I've been for brunch, lunch and dinner numerous times and everytime leave with the same great impression. The restaurant has it's own character and the food and service are always great. So many of the trendy restaurants in the area are way overpriced for the quality of food you get, but at Einstein's everything is pretty resonable and always amazing. Definitely try the sweet potato fries....so good. And you can't beat $6 martini's and mojito's!

It has been some time since I visited Einstein's since I have had several negative experiences. HOWEVER- I had out of town company and decided to give it another try. The service was top notch and the food was great. The "call ahead" seating is a good feature and the decor is fun and interesting.

I used to love the old Einstein's, but now that it's trying to be a little more upscale, the food and atmosphere have actually declined.

The sandwich was of poor quality and didn't even come with a side item. A less than medicore sandwich and a la carte fries was $12. The service was even more disappointing. I did, however, enjoy the atmosphere but not enough to visit this establishment again.

Einsteins has been remodeling for over a year and now half of it seems to be complete. The large stone patio surround the front on Juniper is quite impressive. But not until this weekend did I venture inside the new remodeled section and found an amazing bar and lounge to rival any restaurant in Atlanta. Transclucent light panels, loungy seating around a fire pit, italian lighting, the works. Now is there a happy hour? This could be an alternative to Red Chair or Blakes soon!

I went to Einstein's on the first beautiful day of the year because some friends recommended the patio. The hostess said the wait would be 30 minutes, but it ended up being an hour. I tried to get a glass of water at the bar for 15 minutes, but the manager ignored my request. When we finally sat down, the service was horrible. The food was not hot, and the server was never around. He said he had to go run an errand down the street. Nice for outside, but do NOT expect ANY service.

Go to Einstein's for people-watching and enjoying the outside seating. Don't go for the food. It's usually so-so, pretty much your average bar-food quality fare. Order a beer or an iced tea and you're safe. And the plastic chairs aren't the most comfortable in the world either.

I had the pleasure of visiting Atlanta this summer and found Einstein's to be THE BEST. It's a little piece of quiet relaxation surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a typical Atlanta traffic jam. :)

This restaurant is very reminiscent of my favorite place in Austin, TX (Eastside Cafe). Great menu variety, very welcoming and attentive staff, perfect embience, and an overall wonderful place.

I have recommended that everyone I know visiting Atlanta goes to Einstein's for at least one meal. You Atlantans are lucky to the brink of spoiled...appreciate the finer, smaller places--before they are bulldozed to make the next Starbucks or PF Chang's!

this place is ridiculous. though i do give credit for a friendly staff, it's just a stupid dive with overpriced food. the fact that it has such a high rating scares me. what's considered average around here?
