My wife and I toured the Dole Plantation while on our honeymoon. We went to several places but really enjoyed our time at the Dole Plantation. We attempted the maze without much success. We also took the short but beautiful train ride. You must have the pineapple ice cream before leaving. It is amazing! Be sure to read about our entire honeymoon on our blog at centralbeat com

Pros: Beautiful and family oriented

Cons: The maze gets boring after a while

If you ever have walked into a mall shop specializing in useles junk, such as Sharper Image or the Hello Kitty store or Aaahs, this place is just like that. But, instead of vibrating pillows and Picachu pens and motorized fingers, it's all pineapple. Pineapple t-shirts, pineapple pens, pineapple hot sauce, pineapple reading lamps etc etc. I would still recommend going if nothing else to say you've done it as well as to check out the grounds. The maze is interesting (no, i wont go with the "aMAZE-ing" cliche), the fish in the pond are crazy for food and the store is eccentric. I did like the pineapple slushy though. Plus, its a good stop before continuing on to North Shore.

I have visited the Dole Plantation twice while on Oahu, and would recommend it as a fun day-trip for visitors to the area. You can walk around in a pineapple maze, learn how to cut pineapples properly, browse the large gift shop and walk the lush grounds.

Don't forget to sample a refreshing Dole Whip, their signature creamy frozen soft-serve. Nothing beats it, on a hot day.

Dole whips are basically pineapple flavored frozen yogurt. They are absolutely a must try in Oahu. They usually have coupons for them in traveler's books. I recommend getting the dole whip in a waffle cone. The gift shop has a variety of selection of Dole products and you can usually find cute souvenirs to take home. There is also a gigantic maze that you can run around in for a price. The plantation also allows you to walk around to see pineapples and various other plants as well as placing painted wooden boards with the faces cut out so you can take funny pictures. Dole plantation is a must see!

We visited the Dole Plantation while on a bus tour of Oahu. the plantation tour was interesting. They had a train ride through the pineapple fields while explaining how pinapples go from the field to the store. They had a very crowded gift shop.

We enjoyed taking a ride on the Pineapple Express with our three year old son. It was fun to learn how pineapples grow. Who knew that you cut the top off and plant it to grow one. It was fun to see the different kinds and sizes of pineapple. The Dole Whip was delicious!

When in Oahu, we visited the Dole Plantation. It was really neat to learn about how pineapples grown, but it was almost too commercialized. They have a train ride you can take to find out the history, but before you board they take your picture in front of it that you can purchase after the trip. They also play a CD on board that you can purchase after the ride. We found the train ride to be somewhat boring, my daughter actually fell asleep. You do get to sample the pineapple after it's over...YUM.

The Garden Maze was pretty neat. They even keep track of how much time it takes you to travel through the maze.

PROS: Fun Maze
CONS: too commercialized

Take the train ride for the historic background of Hawaii and the Dole Plantation. See the huge fields of pineapples and other great fruit planted there. Try all the foods they use pineapple with in the gift shop. You can also feed all the coy with the fish food coin machine. Theres also a huge maze to go through. Lots of fun for the kids and family.

Well, I was disappointed here. The world's largest maze was disappointing and if we hadn't had a buy one get one coupon it would have been ridiculously priced! We chose not to pay more money to see their gardens. Gift shop was stuff we could mostly buy elsewhere on the island.

As a huge fan of pineapple, I was extremely disappointed by the fact that the fresh pineapple was horrible! However, the Dole plantation isn't all about eating. For a small fee (ranging from about $4-$7 per activity per person), you can go explore the world's largest maze, take a train ride or walk through the botanical gardens. The grounds are also rich with information about pineapples from around the world, and how pineapples are grown and picked. Afterwards, you can enjoy a nice dairy free pineapple ice cream or choose from a variety of pineapple infused baked goods in the gift store. A good family atmosphere & an experience that is fun for all ages.

The Dole Plantation is located outside of touristy Waikiki and busy Honolulu, and this in itself makes it a cool place to visit! Actually, it does well enough on it's own with it's main star -- the pineapple. The Dole Plantation is part historical, part business (after all, pineapples are being grown here), and part amusement. Admission is free but in order to see the attractions, you'll have to pay. The Pineapple Garden Maze is an average challenge and a lot of fun (but not if you get lost). The Pineapple Express takes you through a portion of the fields and is both educational and entertaining. There is also a Garden but I didn't walk through it. I had heard about the famous Dole Whip and decided to buy it -- how delicious! A perfect ending to the day at the Dole Plantation.

The last time I went I took my 2 year old on the train and through the botanical garden - he loved both! The train is a nice relaxing trip around the grounds, so that you can see where the pineapples are growing. They also have some trees planted and labelled so you know what they are. The train trip takes about 30 minutes or so.

The botanical garden is really cool - banana trees, hibiscus, ti, and many more! The tour takes about 30 minutes or so, but you are able to stay and look around as long as you like. You don't even have to stay with the tour, but they do give a really good narration of everything you are seeing.

This place has the biggest maze in the world. Stay out of it if you do not like bugs because at times, you will feel like you're breathing them in. Try to beat the fastest time and win a t-shirt. They also have great pineapple ice cream. Go on the Pineapple Express ride and see the plantation with little pineapples and a beautiful lake. There is also a garden that has a pond with kois. You can purchase pineapples here to pick up at the airport for a good price. Try not to miss the bus, it only comes once every hour.

Great for kids! We love visiting local farms and factories to learn about local industry, and the Dole plantation is a must. Kids will love the maze, ...
