Wow, there's a lot of bad stuff on here about Coral Fish Hawaii. For those of you whose fish are dying... yes, fish can and do die. But please make sure you are acclimating and quarantining them properly. We buy marine fishes from there for our clients and RARELY EVER have fatalities... other than old age. Most of the fish we buy from there live for YEARS... so, needless to say, we don't have to buy fish very often. They have also begun to sell tank-bred/aqua-cultured saltwater fish. These are fish that have been born and raised solely in tanks, not ones that have been taken off the reefs (except for one initial parent set). No business is perfect, but these guys really do care about their fish and about the reefs. And no, I do not/have not ever worked for them... just a fellow customer looking out for a good company in our community.

I too have been going to Coral Fish Hawaii for a few years now. If you go there you will get to know the staff very well because your fish will die very ofter. I agree with others on their review about 3/5 fish you buy from there will die almost immediatly because of the stress factor. And I am not sure of their catching practices, and as we all know in hawaii the Fish and Game wardens are non existant to regulate the catching and holding of fish. Theri prices are ok, but nothing to brag about. For the amount of fish that will die, they should be cheaper. OK, you have been warned

They are probably the largest wholesale/retail facility of this type on Oahu.
This place is primarily a wholesaler and of recent they have started to concentrate on their retail sales by upgrading warehouse facility and creating a web site etc. They import fish from the Christmas Islands, Philippines, etc. and purchase local. They are then routed to other retailers in quick rotation. I have not had success in keeping the fish alive that I have purchased from them over the years. I believe that this was due to the fish being overly stressed, so they tend not to eat, are prone to have parasite problems from the common water that circulates through all their holding tanks or suspect that they receive fish in a weaken condition due to questionable catch techniques used by some of their suppliers. If you are willing to take a chance, the benefit is that their prices are somewhat fair. Their employees turnover all the time and I have not had the confidence in talking to them that they are experts in tropical fish husbandry. Do yourself a favor and quarantine and medicate if needed. I have been in this hobby for 15 years+.

Pros: Mostly salt and some fresh water fish for sale.

Cons: Stressed fish do not live a long happy life.

I have been going there for years and have not had luck in purchasing parasite clean salt water fish. Until I learned the proper procedure of quarantine and treatment, all the fish I purchased had a high mortality rate. They are primarily a wholesaler, so the fish are placed in their system from shipping boxes and then repackaged and shipped out quickly thereafter. They never get acclimated, so you're buying basically stressed fish in transit that may or may not eat. The prices are fair though so quarantine and treat, if necessary, before placing your fish in your display.

Located in a small warehouse strip mall, this store has a large selection of fishes for your salt water tanks. Pricier than fresh water fish, but understandable due to the care and detail needed to keep salt water fishes happy and alive. Neat to browse in and watch in amazement at the array of fishes that exist in our tropical waters.
