Our adult children stayed for 2 wks and recommended the property. My husband & I stayed for 3 wks, based on their recommendation and loved it . We recommended it to others. We have another trip set for this winter. The property is well maintained, clean & orderly - we spent our time barefoot with no 'black feet'. The counters and showers were immaculate. Supplies are there and, based on length of your stay, can see you thru to departure. Lauloa-at Maalaea is a true gem when it comes to spectacular views (wonderful to have deck doors from both the living room & the master bedroom), ease of parking & an elevator for bringing in groceries, small children in strollers, etc.. The noise of Kihei & the island traffic are lost in the sounds of the night & the ocean. Highly recommend this location.

Pros: The VIEW!!

Had a different experience than the other review. Place was clean, supplies furnished, etc. Beautiful views! Wish we could've stayed longer!

We stayed in unit 211 for 2 weeks in January 2009. The location is great for several reasons not the least of which is the fabulous view of Maalaea bay. We were able to see several pods of whales right from our patio. But we wouldn?t recommend staying in unit 211.

It is obvious the owners of the unit we stayed in have not visited in a long time. All maintenance has been deferred to the point where safety, convenience and comfort have been compromised. Here are some examples:

The sliding glass door to the balcony doesn?t close properly and is impossible to lock. The sliding doors between the living room and the bedroom don?t operate properly and can?t be properly closed. The dishwasher soap dispenser is broken. The window air conditioner leaks all over the patio.

We found the sheets, towels and kitchen equipment to be so worn or inexpensive that they should all be replaced. The single set of sheets are so worn, they have 'pills' on making them uncomfortable. The towels had to be washed twice to get the musty smell out of them. Light bulbs are burned out, the remote control for the DVD player doesn?t work (may need batteries) and the toilet doesn?t even flush properly (you have to hold the handle sometimes.)

Completely unacceptable was the cleanliness of the unit. We made the mistake of walking barefoot on the tile floors the first day we were there, the bottoms of our feet turned black. The grout on the kitchen counters and shower was filthy. The only carpet in the unit, in the living room, is stained.

To add insult to injury, we had to go to the store to buy toilet paper, dishwashing soap, paper towels, clothes washing soap and other supplies that should have been provided.

And if all of that were not bad enough, here is a quote from the owner?s email note confirming full payment: ?Only in the case of emergency or a very urgent matter, contact them..?

The bottom line: The Maalaea area is fine, but avoid unit 211.
