I recently had a flat and the on-post tire center (Firestone at Schofield Barracks) quoted me a price of $160 for a new tire and installation...can you say rip-off? I called Wahiawa Tire Center and they had my tire in stock and quoted me a price of $90, including installation. I was able to go in the same day and they worked on my car within 30 minutes, much less than the wait time at many other places, even if you have an appointment.
They were friendly and fast and I never felt like I was getting talked down to or ripped off. Be warned though, they are first-come, first-served and you have to wait your turn...if you leave, you lose your spot. Also, they are cash only but there are several banks within easy walking distance so it's not hard to go grab some cash if you didn't bring any.
I highly recommend Wahiawa Tire Center! The place looks a little sketchy but it meets the definition of not judging a book by it's cover! If you want a fancy, cushy auto shop with a lux waiting room, this ain't for you...but if you are willing to go the no-frills route, you'll get a great deal on your tires!
Being a military wife I have learned that you trust your gut and you listen to others. If you were to drive past this place, you would pass it with the doors locked. But a lot of Wahiawa is like that. I was told to go there and as nervous as I was to go there alone I did. I had a nail in my tire and on post was ripping me off. I pulled up and this very nice guy stood and looked at my car and at me. I have gotten use to being tried like a girl so it surprised me when he told me then showed me the problem. Then he went out of his way to get me a good deal and to make sure the job was done right the first time. I would go back to him in a heartbeat for more tire repairs. best tip I learned that day was I can't judge by the look so much there are good people in Wahiawa.
