I purchased 4 sets of silver earrings, 2 of the 4 sets turned black. Kamaaina metals are crooking people with selling fake silver. They will not credit or refund the defective metal. I will let everyone know and will never go back there.

BEWARE OF KAMAAINA METALS THEY ARE CROOKED!!!!!!!!!!

Response from this business:

This matter has been addressed and resolved through the BBB in favor of Kama'aina Metals due to substantial proof that the discoloration that Laurie F. insisted proved the items she was sold were fake was actually silver tarnish which actually proved the items to be genuine. Silver tarnishes due to a reaction with the sulfur content in our air. The higher the silver content, the quicker an item tends to tarnish. We offered to re-polish her jewelry and remove the tarnish, we even offered to show her how to do it herself. She insisted that silver shouldn't tarnish, and that the items were fake. We also have a precious metals analyzer which x-rays objects and gives the exact composition breakdown and showed her the results proving that her items were sterling silver. She still refused to relent that the items were in fact sterling silver. It is our company policy that if an item is found to be defective or has damage from the time of purchase or due to a defect, or if the customer was mislead in any way to believe they were purchasing a product other than the one in which they received, KMJ will refund or credit the customer their money. In this case, after careful review, we found that the customer intended to purchase sterling silver earrings, and did in fact purchase sterling silver earrings, and in no way was the product that she purchased defective or misrepresented to her, nor was she mislead in the sale of said items to believe that they would not tarnish, as silver often does. Due to these reasons her refund was denied.

I have never used this company before, and I never will. Their commercial that they aired in OCT11 about MR. T??s cousin, MR LEE was by far the most racist, demeaning and unbelievably ignorant commercials I have ever seen in my life. I am more then willing to go out of my way to tell others to avoid this place.

I am amazed that this outfit can remain in business! From the sound of the other reviews, mine is a typical experience. I was not really greeted at the door, although there were plenty of sullen employees standing around doing nothing. I got a girl named Tony to look at my gold jewelry to purchase, but she didn't really know a lot about what she was doing. They probably should have had somebody helping her since she is high school aged and seems new. They told me she was a manager(?) There is an older woman yelling and scolding workers (what a way to act in public in front of customers). I wasn't offered enough for my jewelry and went elsewhere. There is some competition out there, and a store should not expect to satisfy every person who comes in. But this review is pointed at the shameful customer service of employees and management and lack of business expertise exhibited by owners. I doubt they will last much longer with an average rating of 1 or 2. Don't they know that everybody checks reviews.

Me and my husband went to kamaaina metal in pearl city so sell my ring, and let me tell you the people there are so rude. There wasnt' a smile or a hello, unless you looked like you had money, or japanese. But I waited to be called and we showed the lady my ring and right away she said she wouldnt buy my diamonds, because it was industrial, and she would only pay me for the gold, and she said i would get less than a hundred dollars for it. The one thing that pissed me off the most was that she said my diamonds should under a drill bit, she was rude and very cold just like the rest of them working there. If you want to get rid of jewelry dont go over there cause they will just screw you over.

I decided to sell my grandmothers and mothers Jewelry, which was the hardest thing for me to do, because of its sentimental Value. So when i arrived to Kama'aina Metals I was very upset by the way the receptionist treated me so coldy and didnt even bother to greet or answer my questions. Instead just ignored me and played his electronic game. From there I decided to take a seat and waited for 1hr and half until finally I was able to sell my jewelry.Elizabeth the Manager and the buyer was very rude and impatient. I felt very unwelcome and was appalled at the price they gave me. They low balled me which was unbelieveable. not to mention when her mother came out she started arguing with elizabeth which i found very unprofessional. In the end I left, and will never return to their buisness.

Sandy is the product of one of the worst public educational systems in the U.S.. Ignorant, racist, and stupid is no way to live your life. If you would have excercised your brain when you were younger you wouldnt be selling your crappy jewelry to buy food for your hyperactive son. Read, introduce yourself to other races, get on the internet, but by all means dont be just another pea-brained Kamaaina.

I went here to purchase a specific item as a gift. I received no greetings from the receptionist and was ignored for about 10 min. I was finally able to inquire if they carried the item I was looking for. The salesgirl went to ask and was apparently told to have me wait for Elizabeth. The wait was longer than expected and my kids got bored. The staff kept glaring at us every time my kids made noise. After a while, I asked again if they carried the item and was told to wait my turn. I asked a third time since it was a simple "yes" or "no" question and there was no point in us continuing to wait if they didn't carry it. Elizabeth became very rude and demeaning. When it finally got to our turn, she was extremely arrogant and condescending. She didn't listen to what I was asking and never showed me the items. She made it apparent to everyone in the store that I didn't have enough money to purchase what she had. It was very unprofessional and a horrible experience. I will be making my purchase elsewhere and will never set foot in that store again.

Cons: Bad customer service; unprofessional, not family friendly

So, I have to disagree with everything Knakasone says... im pretty sure that person is associated with the company. I literally bought a ring at a major retailer for a pretty decent price. Not only that, but every website I could find priced the ring at the same price. Over 500 bucks... I went to this place literally 5 minutes after I picked it up, and asked how much it was worth... 55 bucks they said. Don't waste your time with this place. Yeah, they probably have decent priced jewelry for buyers... but just think of the people they screwed just to get the price that low!

We went to the new location in Pearl City and were very pleased with the wonderful service and the experts there. I was helped by a girl named Elizabeth and she answered all my questions very kindly and offered me advise. I was pleased with the amount she paid me because I didn't think my "junk" was worth even half the amount I got! Then I went to look around at the showroom and there were three people there to help me and they were all very friendly and very helpful. The "mom" helped me pick out an amazing set for my daughter and we talked for a while about our families. They may be white but they were born and raised here in Hawaii so they are real Kama'aina. I would deffinately go back for all my gift needs and just to hang around with great people! I would give 10 stars if I could.

The service and pricing of these peoples jewelry is horrible. I visited them and wanted to sell a piece of jewelry and got a ridiculously low quote. The son and wife of the owner are extremely rude and never smiled or were helpful at all. As with the other reviewer, they kept me waiting and were very condisending to me, like I was doing them a favor. What low class people. I would hope you would never go to this place.
AND, to top it all off I left without selling my gold piece and took it too a local pawn shop where I got substantialy MORE money. Just goes to show you what rudness gets you...Nothing!!

I wanted to sell some of my unused jewerly for cash so I thought of Kamaaina Metals. The buyer was already helping someone. I brought my son along not realizing there would be a wait. My son got antsy, so I ask if I could wait outside. We did. A couple of Japanese customers arrived after us. The receptionist (CASANOVA) signal us to come back in. We were about to be help by the buyer when the manager Elizabeth very rudely told us it wasn't our turn. Having waited over half an hour I decide to leave and never do business with Kamaaina Metal. It should be called Haole Metals since all employees and owner are Haole. Unless you look rich and Japanese I won't go there.
