Why do people spend so much time writing mean things about trivial issues? Wow there are some grumpy people out there.
I would absolutely rent from Hula Hogs again. AND I WILL RECOMMEND TO MY FRIENDS!! Kendall (owner) is personable and freindly, he has years of riding behind his belt and understands his clients. Thanks Kendall!!

Just returned from Maui, and it was wonderful as always.
This time we rented a Road King for 3 days from Kendall at Hula Hogs.
The bike was in good shape, and we had no issues.
The big selling point for us was Kendall. We stopped in to check things out, and ended up sitting and chatting with Kendall for over an hour. He was super flexible in setting the whole deal up for us and was accessible even after hours.
We originally were only going to rent 1 day, but opted for 3. There are 3 nice routes on Maui, the west side, Haleakala (bring warm clothes), and the Road to Hana.

We'll definitely rent from Hula Hogs again.

This is on the Hula Hogs. We rented a very poor Road King for a day and returned it in 3 hrs do to the poor and unsafe condition. Poor breaks and just a junk bike. My first thought of the bike was WOW, I paid for this?? but thought, just riding and not showing so go for it. HUGE mistake, Couldnt get it back soon enough, of course the guy KENDELL, renting it was gone with a note (any questions ???) and a ph# so I just left the crap at his door. I am 56yrs old and this is the worst Harley I rode in my life with much experinece. Go to the real harley shop by the airport. Jim

After reading the above review, I still went to Hula Hogs, as some of the other places had shut down and the others were far away or pricy. I did look over the 6 bikes that were out front checking out tires, brakes, etc. Overall the bikes were not brand new Avis fleet quality, but more of a mix of ages but in good shape. I would say the worst was what you would find in a garage in America where you have a person who rides their bike (not just polished up for show). The two fuel injected bikes were in beautiful shape.

Out of the 6 bikes, two were fuel injected, one the brakes were almost there, and one was getting to close on the back tire for me. Other than that the brakes looked good, paint was good, tires good. These bikes are ridden, but not ragged out.

So I rented one of the Road Kings for 6 hours, and rode the heck out of it (did not even stop for lunch) around the west side of Maui, and up Haleakala. The bike ran great, no issues. The owner was the guy out front washing the bikes. He said his wife rides the bikes all the time, and he really tries to keep the bikes in good shape. After all he would have to come get it if it breaks down.

I typically ride a sport tour bike (Honda VFR), so when I headed out, my thought was to ride the west side of Maui, as I ??heard? that was a nice ride. Figured I would get used to the bike before heading up the curves on the mountain. It did not take too long, and I was good to go. However for the fellow tourist who may not have read about the west Maui roads, it is not for the faint of heart. The first part was great all the way up to Honolua ?..the last 10 (felt like 30) or so miles is what the road to Hana used to look like 30 years ago (or at least what I envision from the stories). One lane (I had to stop and squeeze to the side to allow an oncoming car pass) no yellow line, no guard rails, blind corners, falling rocks, and sheer cliffs. I dragged the foot boards on the 180 switchbacks that had a 6% incline. It was a thrilling ride, although I was caught of guard. After that trip the run up to 6500 feet was nothing. Easy ride.

All in all great ride, great experience, and for $117 all said and done for 6 hours of fun and adventure, you can not beat it.

Aloha, I would like you folks to know that Hula Hogs is a vendor that has unsafe products and practices. We were there last week and rented a bike from Hula Hogs and found the bike to be unsafe. When we tried to return the bike, we were given the run around by the guy who rented us the bike, (Kendal). He said he was the "manager" only and any decisions for a refund needed to be made by the owner and he would have to call him. We did finally get our credit card credited for the rental (which was less than 8 hrs on a 3 day rental) after spending time out of our vacation, sitting around waiting for a return call from the "owner". We found out later from other people in the area that the guy we were dealing with WAS the owner of Hula Hogs and was giving us the run around hoping we would go away. Other bikers have told us that his bikes have minimal maintenance and are unsafe. We also found out that he was shut down for business. How can this happen and how many other people are getting ripped off by him? Kendal's business is a sham and should be shut down...again! I would really rethink endorsing or listing him on your website!Mahalo.

You may want to think about this twice, if you are not familiar with Maui roads, drivers, and weather. But if you decide this is the way to go, they are known for good motorcycle rentals.
